16th Annual York Reunion & Second Edition York US30 Heritage Days

York Springs, PA – Although the operations at York US30 Dragway ceased in 1979 at the York Airport in Thomasville some 38 years ago the annual pilgrimage to the York Reunion will continue for the 16th consecutive year at the Second Edition of the York US30 Heritage Days to be presented at the Eastern Museum of Motor Racing (EMMR) and the historic Latimore Valley Fairgrounds on July 7-8th.

One of the most popular drag race drivers to shift a four-speed transmission was none other than Dave Strickler from York, PA driving the world famous Old Reliable Chevrolets out of the Ammon R. Smith Auto Company also located in York.

“Strick” as he was affectionately called by his many fans won many NHRA Championship events which included the Super Stock World Championship driving one of the Ammon R.
Smith sponsored Camaros.

Unfortunately Dave left us at an early age while mowing his lawn, but his legacy and life lives on during the many York Reunions. Friday, July 7 will be “Dave Strickler Day” at
EMMR with his family and fans sharing the many outstanding memories from his illustrious career.

Countless legends of drag racing will be sharing the York US30 Dragway memories at this annual classic. Icons like Arnie “The Farmer” Beswick, Ed Miller, George Cureton, Al Joniec,
“Ohio George” Montgomery, Bob McClurg, Wally Bell, Bob Harrop, and another local favorite on the distaff side, Patti Young while the list goes on.

The action packed two days includes a Friday display by the Ford Fairlane Club and a Glory Days Cruise-In on Saturday from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. along with a very popular
sensory experience when the legendary race cars start up and provide the sounds of nitro drag racing.

Admission is $10.00 per day or a special two-day ticket for $15.00. The event supports the Eastern Museum of Motor Racing.

Activities for the weekend culminate with the presentation of the York Nostalgia Nationals at Beaver Springs Dragway, Beaver Springs, PA on Sunday July 9 where many of the legendary
race cars will be competing for York Nostalgia Nationals laurels.
