May 19, 2002 - The Drag Racing List Goes
Over FIVE MILLION HITS! That's right, gang. Sometime in the late, late
hours of Mother's Day 2002, Draglist.com eclipsed the five million hit mark.
More than five million times since April 1996, a drag racer or fan has
displayed a page at Draglist.com! It's sure been a fun ride.
There are two asterisks to put next to that five million hit number,
however. Asterisk one: for the first four years of our existence, we only tracked
the hits coming through the front page. We've come to find out that many
readers enter through other Draglist.com pages. In fact, just about as many
readers enter the site through the Photo of the Day and Classifieds pages as
do those who enter from the front page! For the first four years, none of
those people were tracked, so despite our OFFICIAL five million page view
number, the actual number is probably way higher than that.
Asterisk two: our incredible growth over the past year!
Draglist.com is on track to receive four to five million page views in 2002
ALONE! Thanks to all our readers. And thanks to our amazing volunteers who
help to record the history of the world fastest men and women. To steal Don
Ewald's phrase, "We do it for love." It's incredibly gratifying to
have all of you share our passion for drag racing. Happy Mother's Day,
indeed! Bill Pratt
