LOTS of new Draglist Links! In fact, we found 400 new links last week and we are working hard to approve them all and get them up there. We've uploaded over 100 of them. Also, we have changed one of our categories: Section 29 is no longer Web Based Services. That title never really took off. Instead, we have renamed that section "Machinists, Mechanics, and Services." We have moved all the links that fall under those categories from their previous locations (as Engine Builders or Speed Shops or Auto Parts) to the new location. In most cases, the original link remained in the former section, too. Whether you consider yourself a grease monkey or an artisan, you now have your own section on Draglist Links (29)!

If you haven't checked out the all-new Drag Racing Lists, do it now! We have totally updated them. We also have added a new list. Read all about it in the 6/08 Drag Racing Story of the Day

June 22, 2000 -- Drag Racing Story of the Day: New England Dodge Dealers Funny Cars Under The Stars. This is a real treat for me. Not just because it's a neat story from one of the Northeast's last great match race tracks, but because it reunites us with Billy Anderson. Billy was a fresh, young teenager when he started submitting match race stories and stats to the old Drag Racing List booklet more than ten years ago. He's still at NED, saving memories for his fellow drag fans and we are thrilled to have him back. James Morgan contributes his usual outstanding photos to round out the story.

June 21, 2000 -- Drag Racing Story of the Day: Pro Mods at Emerald Coast Dragway. Danny White and team up again to bring you more Southern doorslammer action!

June 20, 2000 -- Drag Racing Stories of the Day: IHRA Cordova Final Results and NHRA Columbus Final Results. All the action from this weekend's battles in the Midwest!

June 19, 2000 -- Drag Racing Story of the Day: Tommy Joe and The Straight and Narrow. You asked for it and you got it! Ralph "Gonzo" Crosby has provided us another hilarious tale of the adventures of Tommy Joe Cauldwell and the gang. We'll run down the weekend racing results tomorrow. See ya! bp

June 18, 2000 -- Drag Racing Story of the Day: Charleston R.I. Reunion, Day Two. Bill Ott wraps up the happenings at Day Two of the Charlestown Dragway Reunion.

Plus updated Draglist Links.

June 12, 2000 -- Drag Racing Story of the Day: That Ol' Black Magic. James Morgan with a great photo and memory of one of the best FC racers of the '70s. Updated Draglist Links.

June 11, 2000 -- Drag Racing Story of the Day: MIR Spring FC Classic Titles to Gibson, Plummer, Hayes. Bro Tim Pratt and I did the MIR thing last night. He manned the digital camera; I manned the mike with Lewis Bloom. Our story is the "SOD" for 6/11.

June 7, 2000 -- Drag Racing Story of the Day: Kirt's Automotive Pro Mod Challenge. Danny White and Darren Woodruff combine to bring you all the action from a big money Deep South doorslammer match race. New Draglist Links.

We are still working on the latest round of updates. Time gets a little tight during the week, but we look good for getting them done by tonight.

June 6, 2000 -- Drag Racing CO-Stories of the Day! There was so much drag racing action this past weekend that we had to do TWO stories! NHRA Chicago Route 66 Nationals Results and IHRA Grand Bend Canadian Nationals Results. Congrats to John Force on becoming the all-time NHRA National Event win leader. Check out the Route 66 results for a full listing of all his wins and a brief comparison of the win records of John and former all-time event winner Bob Glidden. IHRA action was amazing at the first National Event in Canada in many moons.

On an incredibly sad note, Jet Dragster driver Jack Dustman was killed in Canada when his parachute failed to open after a pass. The Dustmans are good people who moved up from the circuit alky funny car ranks to jets. Their act was first class all the way, in quality, performance, and preparation. They are always friendly to fans and helpful to fellow racers. This is extremely hard to take, especially on the heels of the loss fellow Jet Dragster racer Bill Gnegy a few weeks ago. Our deepest sympathies to the Dustman family and to all their friends.

Dieter Sturm has invited friends of Jack Dustman to his JETWEBB.COM message board to express their thoughts and words at http://www.jetwebb.com.

June 5, 2000 -- Drag Racing Story of the Day: Tommy Ivo's Heroes. Yes, even drag racing superstars have their own heroes. Tommy describes his and the fun they had racing in the old days.

June 4, 2000 -- Drag Racing Story of the Day: How Jon Asher Got His Start. Drag racing photojournalist extraordinaire Jon Asher tells how he went from salesman to highly paid drag photographer with a combination of moxie and luck.

Danny White has just sent new updated lists. I will have them up by Sunday night. See ya! bp

June 3, 2000 -- Today's Drag Racing Story of the Day: Sleeping In The Garage (A few things you say once, and only once, while attending a drag race with the little lady.) Thanks, Gonzo! New Draglist Links. bp

June 2, 2000 -- Today's Drag Racing Story of the Day comes from our own Danny White, who tells what happens when drag racers take over a simple agricultural contest! New Draglist, too!

June 1, 2000 -- We're back! We had a fantastic camping vacation with our friends Sean and Tonya Speer that took us to the Outer Banks of North Carolina and to Williamsburg, Virginia. Williamsburg was not planned, but after we got hit with a HURRICANE in the Outer Banks, we headed north before tempting our fate! At least one night of our vacation was spent in sleeping bags on the floor of a shelter (pop up trailers don't stay too watertight in hurricanes!) It was one more adventure, however, and the vacation was a nice chance to recharge our batteries. We are ready to go again!

Hope you liked the seven Drag Racing stories of the day we left during our absence. You didn't read them all at once, did you? Oh well, that's OK. Today's Story of the Day comes from NHRA Event Director (and Director of the NHRA Museum) Steve Gibbs. Steve tells what happens when you walk into a room of '70s funny car racers with the heads of both major sanctioning bodies!
