October 18, 2000 -- We were down for
almost 24 hours from 10/16 to 10/17 afternoon. The server at the hosting
service would not reboot. To top it off, they think it was a problem with
one of the Microsoft FrontPage files on draglist.com. I think it's time to
hit the 'net for reviews of other development tools. Right now, I am
looking at a three way tie between HomeSite, Hot Dog Pro, and WebFusion.
Anybody have any experience with any of these?
FrontPage does a lot of things right, but
too many things wrong. It's quirky as hell, but I've just figured it all
out over time... Still, it would be nice not to have to do mental work-arounds.
I mean, there is NO WAY anyone else can just pick up and do the stuff I am
doing in FrontPage. Hopefully, with something else, Denise can fill in a
bit. The search is on!

October 17, 2000 -- We got an update
from Bret Kepner last night regarding Bill Kuhlmann's condition. Bill
awoke for the first time yesterday. Amazingly, he remembers all the events of last
weekend when he suffered a huge fire in his Summit Racing Corvette Nitro Coupe at
Virginia Motorsports Park. It looks to be at least another week of
hospitalization for Bill. The race car is completely destroyed.
Bill's
website (http://www.billkuhlmann.com/)
reports that Summit Racing Equipment will not be back on the side of the
race car for 2001, so Bill's 2001 plans are up in the air. That's
secondary, of course. We are happy to have Bill awake and stable. We will
provide periodic updates on his condition.
