Mel Bryson qualified his gorgeous '34 Willys in the seventh spot of the Pro Supercharged field at the 2001 March Meet with an 8.268. Bryson stepped up in the opening round of eliminations with a 7.91 to defeat Ed Moss' '37 Ford, but his ever-improving 7.84 in the semifinal round was not enough to hold off the 7.05 turned in by eventual runner-up Howard Anderson.
