Charles Carpenter with a huge nitrous backfire at Sacramento Raceway. He was match racing Bob Bunker's "Folsom Flash" on Sept 29, 1990. Bob Bunker, Dave Riolo (both west coasters) and Charles Carpenter are pretty much responsible for starting the "Shoebox Wars." Guys like Vandergriff, Littleton, and others soon followed.

A copy of this photo appeared on another web site recently without credit and it caught me off guard cuz I have never scanned it! The site was featuring a story all about Carpenter so I suspect they got the photo that I sold to him a decade ago!
