This is famed chassis builder and driver Dave Uyehara at the wheel of John Blanchard's "Nitro NASDAQ" front-engined Top Fueler at the California Hot Rod Reunion. Dave started the run and got out of the groove and into guardrail. The blower banged when he pedaled the car and then he shot over into the opposite lane hitting that wall also. The car went through the lights upside down and backwards and caromed back into the wall where it tumbled several times and split in half in front of the motor. Wheels, wings and body parts were flying everywhere and the car finally came to rest on its side with Uyehara pinned inside. He was pretty shaken up, but was released from the hospital later that day with no serious injuries.
