Notes: All American Funny Car number 5. In 1985, the car had a different paint job or lettering. The Arrow got a new body; the chassis was the former Gwynn's Baby Huey. Jackie failed to qualify at the first NHRA Division 4 race at Green Valley and the second NHRA Division 4 race at State Capitol Raceway, as well as the third event at Amarillo. But at the fourth Division 4 race at Alamo Dragway, he qualified #4 in the eight-car field with a 6.87/182.92. He improved to 6.75/193.96 in the first round, to beat alternate James Brown's 7.32, and in the semifinals, his 6.79/197.36 beat Bill Wendt's 6.90. That put him in the final against Dal Denton. Jackie had problems, and his 11.70-72.86 finished runner-up to Dal's 6.69/208. He was the first alternate for the eight-car field at the NHRA Cajun Nationals with a 6.581/207.27. Stidham made it to the finals against Dal Denton a the Alamo WWCS, where he lost. Stidham qualified number four 6.87 182.92; he ran 6.75 193.96, 6.79 197.36, and 11.70 in the finals. On June 7, Stidham faced Paul Albers in a match race at Paris Drag Strip in the only TA/FC race ever held there. On June 14, he was at 1/20 Dragway in Tyler, Texas, for an All-American Funny Car circuit race. Sixteen cars attempted to qualify for the eight-car field on the 1,000-foot track. Jackie's 5.86/185.95 qualified #7. In the first round, an off-pace 6.85/97.40 lost to Harold Lewelling's 5.81/182. The next NHRA Division 4 race was at Houston on June 23. He qualified on the "bump" for the eight-car show with a 6.93/181.81. In the first round, he survived a close one with Larry Reep, where his 6.81/177.86 narrowly beat Reep's 6.80/213. Larry set Top Speed of the meet in trying to catch him. In the semifinals, Stidham's 6.87/194.80 lost to Charlie Byers' 6.66/210. Tod Close (see TAFC entry) and Hap Johnson (owner TAD, TAFC, AAFA) were the crew |

Notes: Darrell qualified #1 at Atlanta for the NHRA Division 2 Opener in March with a 6.61/205.01. Only six cars showed for the eight-car field. He went on to win by beating Wayne Stoeckel with a 6.63/201.34, then getting the "odd-Lot" solo; he clicked it off early. In the final, he was lucky when Bogie Kell fouled away a Low ET of the meet 6.55/209, while Amberson got the victory with a 6.96/200.89. He had lots of problems at the NHRA Gatornationals, and as a result, his best of 10.08 failed to qualify. On April 28, he was at Indianapolis for the NHRA Division 3 Opener. He qualified #3 in the eight-car field with a 6.70/200.44. A first-round 6.75/201.34 beat Mark Thomas, but in the semifinals, his 6.70/211.76 lost to eventual winner Steve Group's 6.51/209. At the second NHRA Division 5 race at Brainerd, Darrell qualified #3, and he beat Murray Bunnell in round one, with a 6.87/178.74. Unfortunately, he broke in the semifinals against eventual winner Vern Moats. Amberson went to Beech Bend for the NHRA Sportsnationals, but his 6.85/202.79 best failed to qualify for the sixteen-car show. The following week (June 8), he was at Bandimere for the third Division 5 race. His 7.04/195.22 qualified #2 behind Moats' strong 6.83/208. He had out-qualified Brad Anderson, who was third with a 7.06/195. It was an unusual twelve-car show. Darrell ran 7.28 over Arnie Olivas in round one, and a second-round 7.17/193.54 stopped Mike Webb, but in the semifinals, Anderson stepped up to 6.88/205 to beat his 7.23/194.38. He was back at Brainerd on June 23 for the Crown Auto US Funny Car Championships. It was an eight-car field, and in the first round, Amberson's 6.78/205.01 beat Chris Pettengill's close 6.79/200, but his chute fell out in the semifinals while racing Moats, and he lost. Darrell ran 6.892/196.50 at ADRL Kansas City International Raceway 8/85. |

Notes: Only four alcohol FCs showed at Cayuga Dragway on May 19 for the second NHRA Division One race. Larry's 7.31/186.91 qualified #3. In the opening round, his 7.04/185.18 lost to eventual winner Bob Newberry's 6.80/212. | At the WWCS at Maple Grove, Dobbs qualified #6 in the 8 car field with a 6.70/205.94. He would draw #2 Qualifier Gary Cellone in round 1 where Dobbs's 6.75/204.54 was no match for the eventual runner up Cellone's 6.40/216.86. | He was the third alternate for the eight-car field at the NHRA Grandnationals with a 6.61/205.76. |

Notes: At the NHRA Budweiser Summernationals in Englishtown, Parker qualified #13 with a 6.662/203.43. Parker would face #5 qualifier Dennis Bedrosian in round 1 but would red light away a 6.636 to give the victory to Bedrosian. | Ed was in New England in the first week of August for the NHRA Division One final. His 6.75/199.33 qualified #7, and in the first round, he was disqualified when he crossed the centerline in his race with eventual winner Dick Bell. Ed bought the body from the Castronovo Bros. Notes: Photo shows Cook at the Green Valley Division 4 race, where he did not qualify. Frank was at State Capitol Raceway in March for the second NHRA Division 4 race. He qualified on the "bump" for the eight-car show with a 6.84/187.50. He shut off with problems in round one, advancing Harold Lewelling. Frank attempted to qualify at the NHRA Cajun Nationals, but a 6.65/213.37 best was good for the fourth alternate for the eight-car field. On June 14 Cook was at 1/20 Dragway in Tyler Texas for an All-American Funny Car Circuit race. Unfortunately, his 6.05/179.28 failed to qualify for the eight-car show on the 1,000 foot track. Cook made it to the Houston WWCS 6/85 race qualifying number six with a 6.75/200.89, but Cook was unable to make the first-round. |

Notes: It was unusual to see Clayton Harris behind the wheel of this alcohol FC after spending years behind the wheel of a TF dragster. And to tell the truth, the car was not very competitive. He was at Warner Robins for the rain-delayed NHRA Division Two race in the first week of April. His 6.91/197.80 was the slowest qualifier on the six cars that showed. He improved to 6.79/207.37 in the first round, but it was not enough, as he lost to Terry Mullins' 6.68/209. He was at DeSoto Memorial in May for the next NHRA Division Two race. His 6.98/193.96 qualified #5 in the eight-car field. That set up a first-round meeting with low qualifier Bogie Kell. Harris' 7.01/192.71 fell to Kell's 6.64/212. He was at Beech Bend early in June for the NHRA Sportsnationals, where his 7.24/191.08 ended up as the seventh alternate for the sixteen-car field. Listed times from The Drag Racing List, December 86/January 87, Volume 1, Number 9 |

Notes: Listed times from The Drag Racing List, December 86/January 87, Volume 1, Number 9. See TA/D, too. The car was Twig Zeigler's and Charles Ware's before becoming the Risky Business. Paul Albers ran Alcohol Dragster too. | Paul failed to qualify for the first NHRA Division 4 Race at Green Valley and the second NHRA Division 4 race at State Capitol Raceway on March 24. He qualified #4 at Amarillo for the third NHRA Division 4 race with a 6.95/197.06. Another 6.95 at 205.46 in the first round, beat James Brown, but in the semifinals his 6.97/198.28 lost to Charlie Byers' 6.90/214. At the fourth Division 4 race at Alamo, Paul qualified #5 with a 6.93/193.13. He got out of shape in the first round, and shut off to a 9.86/86.20 loss to eventual winner Dal Denton's 6.76/206. Paul Albers raced Jackie Stidham in the only TA/FC match race at Paris Drag Strip in 1985 running 6-flat on June 7. Albers ran 5.81 182.18 at I-20 AAFCC race on the 1000 foot track in June. |
