Notes: Tim was in New England in August for the NHRA Division One final. He qualified #6 in the eight-car field, and in the opening round of eliminations, his 6.73/195.65 lost to eventual winner Al Bergler's 6.22/220. NOT a Challenger. Read PLYMOUTH on the rear fender. Notes: I recommend Dwight Guild's YT OCIR video channel showing '80-'83 events, including rear views of Harrison in the HB Gold car's FTQ runs at the May 1982 OCIR meet. I went back to the pits to see who did the monster burnouts and saw '733' taped on the HB car. Those stomp-down burnouts Harrison did that day (and night when he raced the jet after his FTQ) were thunderous. Like the Jam-Air/Litdke car, the motor would wind down completely silent after the burnout as the car slowed down, then idle again. It was a badass sound. - Joe Moore |

Notes: Fullerton had a bad weekend at Gainesville in March for the NHRA Gatornationals. During qualifying, the car went up in flames on a 6.44 pass. That qualified him in the #15 spot. The car was too badly burnt up to compete, so the first alternate, John Force, took his place in the field. He was at Englishtown for the NHRA Division One race, where his off-pace 7.10/152 lost to George Johnson's 6.44/215 in the opening round. Larry competed at New England in August for the NHRA Division One final. It was an eight-car field, and in the opening round, his 6.57/195.22 beat Al Hanna's similar 6.57/208 in the "Eastern Raider." He had trouble in the semifinal and shut down to 8.84 in losing to eventual winner Al Bergler's 6.30/220. Gainesville was Larry's only NHRA national event of 1979. |

Notes: The Souza Brothers showed up at Fremont in January with their Mustang having a newly lengthened nose. Dave made only one pass, a 9.69/148.51. The brothers were back at Fremont for a best of three match race against Ed Carter in June. Dave outran the Nova in their first two races with times of 9.24/151.26 and 9.40/150.00. Even though Souza had already sewed up the match, they decided to race one last round. This time Souza fouled, and Carter ran 9.13 to win. In July, Fremont held an eight-car FC race, and Souza won it. An opening round 9.50/148.20 beat Mark Bloom's ailing 10.52/125. The "Canary" blew a rear end in the semifinal, and Dave ran 9.21/150 to advance. He faced the Tom Sherlock Mustang driven by Larry Barker in the final. Dave's 9.03 got the win over Barker's 9.31. |

Notes: The Jacksons ran an extended (for them) NHRA tour in 1998 with the following results: Phoenix: 6.640/189.55 DNQ. Columbus: 5.953/175.26 DNQ. Bandimere: Qualified 16 at 6.000/225.00, but gave Whit Bazemore an incredible race in round one, – 5.501/269.70 to 5.589/250.90! Memphis: 5.792/186.90 DNQ. Did the team run a 5.285 somewhere this year? | Photo from 1998 Springnationals, Columbus, OH. |
