Notes: 1973 winner Coca-Cola Cavalcade of Stars Series. Set Green Valley Race City Track Record on 3/73 at 6.50/219. Coke event promo poster from US 30 cited 6.55/218 bests. David was at ESTA Drag Strip in mid-June for a four-car show. In his first race, a 6.82/171.42 beat Harland Thompson's 7.11/193 in the "Tom and Jerry" car. On his second run, he beat Pete Hill's 6.87/182 with a 6.61/202.24. Ray went undefeated when he ran 6.65/206.88 to beat Pee Wee Wallace's 6.84/196 in his final race. Shortly after that, he was at Beech Bend for the Coca-Cola Cavalcade race. David was the low qualifier with a 6.64/223.32, and in the first round, he set Low ET with a 6.56 at 221.67 that beat Roger Lindamood. He went up against the "LA Hooker" driven by Dave Condit in the final, and Ray's 6.83/208.81 took the victory over Condit's troubled 8.28/106.

Notes: Segrini was driving Kosty's car from at least March through June 1973. He was at Lakeland on March 4 for the IHRA Winternationals. Al qualified #11, and in the opening round of eliminations, his 7.13/193.53 lost to eventual winner Pat Foster's 6.83/205 in the Barry Setzer Vega. He then went to Gainesville for the NHRA Gatornationals, where his 6.58/225.00 qualified #11. The car lost fire on the line in the first round, advancing Ed McCulloch. Al was at Englishtown in April for an eight-car show. A first-round 6.68/219.51 beat Tom Prock's 7.08/181 in the "Custom Body" car, but he had trouble keeping the front wheels on the ground in the semifinals and lost to eventual winner "Jungle Jim" Liberman. He was really running well at the second NHRA Division 3 race at National Trail. He only qualified #6 in the eight-car field, but his 6.76 in the first round, beat #2 qualifier Dale Emery driving the "Jeg's" Camaro. That time was good enough for Low ET, but he stepped it up even further in the semifinals when he tied the track ET record with a 6.65 at 218.97 (Top Speed) while beating Bill Leavitt. Unfortunately, he had troubles in the final and lost to Russell Long, driving Charlie Proite's Charger. Al was at Connecticut for its 13th annual Memorial Day Championships. He set Low ET at 6.60 and finished runner-up to Leavitt. He failed to qualify at Columbus for the NHRA Springnationals (times not reported). The following weekend (June 17), he was at Bristol for the IHRA Springnationals, where he reached the second round before he lost to Al Hanna in the "Eastern Raider." On July 4, he was at Englishtown for an eight-car show. He won his first-round race but lost to Clare Sanders driving the "Ramchargers" car in the semifinals.

Notes: Qu Voe is a chemical company. | The best for Qu Voe Charger in '73 was 6.56/225 at New York National. We ran the Charger at Miami in early '73 - the second season for that car - and beat Shirl Greer first-round with a 6.68/223. At the time that was the best we had ever run. The car had a Halibrand quick change rear, which was being used by some cars at the time. It had worked okay the previous year with a smaller motor, but it couldn't handle a 484 inches. Second round, we had the Max, and the rear end broke about ten feet off the starting line. Back in Chicago, we replaced the Halibrand with a Bob Stange Dana 60 rear. Ed mounted his chutes on the rear end with a new bracket. Our next race was at Martin, and we ran McCulloch on our first pass. Ed ran 6.61 and lost to a 50-something from Ed. When he dumped the chutes, the bracket broke and the car went off the end of the track. We had to patch up the body and repaint it. What had been a very good looking car, ended up being kind of ugly. But we had some good days the rest of that season. - Paul Stenquist (Rick Howard photo from 1973 Martin, MI.)

Notes: Sullivan was in Connecticut on May 14 for a best-of-three-match race against Bill Lawton. He lost the match as he lost in the first and third races, but he had Top Speed at 171.10. On June 25, Sullivan was at Gary, Indiana, for another match race against Doug Cook, driving the "Stone, Woods and Cook" Mustang. It was not a good day for Bob as he lost all three races. The only bright side was that he was able to set a new track speed record. In their first race, Doug's 8.29/166 beat the Camaro's 8.49/171.75. Bob got the speed record in their second race, where his 8.40/181.81 still lost to Doug's 8.29/167. Although the match was already lost, the two agreed to run the last race. Cook again led Sullivan through the lights with an 8.28/167 over Bob's 8.44/172.73. Bob was at Motor City Dragway on July 22 for a four-car round-robin race. In his first race, he soloed with an 8.47/174.08 when Doug Cook broke in the "Stone, Woods & Cook" Mustang. In his second race, he improved to 8.37/176.81 to beat Paula Murphy. Sullivan's third run was an 8.36/175.43 that beat Arnie Beswick. Photo from the Hot Rod Meet, Riverside Raceway in California.

Notes: Segrini started the season the right way by winning the NHRA Winternationals. Crew chief Bill Schultz tuned the car to a 6.04/244.56 to qualify #8. A 6.24/230.76 beat Tom Ridings' 6.26/233 in the first round, while in round two, his 6.30/233.16 beat Gary Burgin's quicker 6.29/227. In the semifinals, he beat Doc Halladay's off-pace 7.92 with a 6.21/239.36. This put him in the final against Raymond Beadle in the "Blue Max." Beadle was favored due to his times, as he had run 5.97, 6.02, and another 5.97 en route to the final. But in the final, the "Max" slowed to a 6.32/226 that lost to Segrini's 6.26/238.09. Al got to Beadle again at the next NHRA race, the Gatornationals, in March. Al qualified #9 with a 6.11/243.24 that set up a first-round meeting with low qualifier Beadle. In their first-round race, Raymond got out of shape and hit the guardrail. The impact flipped the car onto its roof. He was OK, but while all eyes were on the "Blue Max," Al was motoring to the first-round win with a 6.18/223.32. Unfortunately, he lost to Paul Smith in round two. He failed to qualify for the eight-car show at the Bakersfield March Meet with his 6.40/224.43 falling short of the 6.35 "bump." At Darlington for the IHRA Winternationals, he lost to eventual winner Dale Pulde in the first round. He competed at Atlanta's Spring Funny Car race in April but failed to reach the finals. Al was back at Atlanta on April 25 for the NHRA Southern Nationals, but he was the third alternate with a best of 6.18/231.95 for the eight-car show. He was at Rockingham on May 2 for the IHRA Pro-Am Championships. He qualified #2 with a 5.97 behind Beadle's track record 5.86. Al beat Burgin in the first round, before losing to Kenny Bernstein in the semifinals. At the NHRA Cajun Nationals, Segrini qualified #6 in the eight-car field with a 6.19/237.46. But in round one, the car broke, advancing eventual winner Beadle. He ran really well at the NHRA Springnationals, where his 6.10/243.90 qualified #11. In the first round, he faced Beadle, who qualified with a 5.98. But the "Blue Max" smoked all eight pistons while Segrini advanced with a 6.16/238.09. He beat Dale Pulde in round two, and a 6.27/236.84 got around Bernstein's 6.32/223 in the semifinals. This set up a final-round meeting with Frank Hawley in the "Chi-Town Hustler.” The final wasn't even close, as Segrini slowed to 6.42/217.39 while Hawley got the victory with a 6.07/233. The following week (June 20), he was at Norwalk for the IHRA World Nationals. It was another eight-car field, and his 5.95 qualified #3. Al lost to Pulde in the first round. He also lost in the first round, at the Super Stock Magazine Nationals at Maple Grove. He qualified #6 in the eight-car field with a 6.18/225.00. There Tim Grose beat him. Segrini made the trip to Canada for the NHRA Grandnationals, where he qualified #3 for the eight-car show with a 6.03/235.60. Al's best NHRA times were 5.910 at Brainerd and 245.23 (5.915) at Indy. He scored two runner-ups in addition to the Pomona win. Al jumped into the Joe Pisano car at the 1982 OCIR Manufacturers Meet.

Notes: Photo from Pop Rod 82. Got Miller Sponsorship late in the year, kept gold-orange colors, went to "Warrior" name due to competitor brewery's eagle on its logo. | Pulde started the season at Pomona for the NHRA Winternationals. He qualified #5 with a 6.04/240.64. Both he and opponent Mike Dunn had problems in their first-round race and Mike's 7.48/225 beat Dale's 7.66/110.11. Surprisingly, Pulde failed to qualify for the eight-car field at Famoso for the Bakersfield March Meet. At the NHRA Gatornationals, he again qualified #5, this time with a 6.07/238.09. An off pace 6.43/224.43 lost to Paul Smith's 6.31/233 in the first round. Things went more Dale's way the following week (March 21) at Darlington for the IHRA Winternationals. There, he qualified for the eight-car show and went on to beat John Pott in the final with a 6.26/238.09 (Top Speed). Another win came in April at an eight-car show in Atlanta. There, he set Low ET in the final with a 5.99 to beat Bob Hilton in the "Custom Body" Omni. The next time he was in Atlanta his 6.17/226.13 failed to qualify for the eight-car field at the NHRA Southern Nationals. Rockingham hosted IHRA's second event of the year, the Pro-Am Championships, on May 2. Pulde qualified for the show, but in the first round, against Kenny Bernstein, he had a motor let go on the line. At Bristol, for the IHRA Springnationals, Dale lost in round two. The next stop was at Baton Rouge for the NHRA Cajun Nationals. It was an eight-car field and Pulde's 6.13/237.45 qualified #4. But in the first round, his fuel switch malfunctioned, and he shut off giving Gary Burgin a solo into the semifinal. NHRA's next race was the Springnationals at National Trail. Dale qualified #7 with a 6.07/238.72, and he beat Mike Dunn in the first round, before losing to Al Segrini in the second. The following week (June 20), he was at Norwalk for the IHRA World Nationals. A 6.03 qualified #7 in the eight-car field, and he beat Segrini in the first round, and in the semifinals, his 6.29 stopped Raymond Beadle's 6.31 in the "Blue Max.” This put Dale into the final against Tom Anderson. Dale picked up the win with a 6.04. He didn't have to wait long before he got himself another victory as he went to Maple Grove for the Super Stock Magazine Nationals on June 27 and won that too. There he ran 6.59/212.76 and 6.39/217.39 to stop John Speelman and Tim Grose in the first two rounds (eight-car field), then in the final he faced John Pott driving Larry Coogle's "Sting.” Larry got crossed up and Pulde got another win with a 6.33/205.94. Dale’s best NHRA national event times of the year came at the Indy Nationals, where he qualified #9 at 5.922/245.23, but lost in round one, to Don Prudhomme. He was runner up to Rob Williams at the Division 4 event at Green Valley, TX, 6.36/222 to Dale’s shutting off 6.51/155. Best times were 5.922/245.23 in qualifying at Indy. Dale also went 5.936 and 5.99 at NHRA Fremont.

Notes: Gary attempted to qualify at Pomona for the Winternationals, but a best of 6.411/231.36 failed to make the field. | Pete Jackson injector installed later in '83, Henry Velasco the CC last part of the year. Ran a series of 5.97s/5.99s for early alternate at Indy (ultimately, first alternate at 5.975/245.23), 5.904/238.09 at the '83 Finals with the roof hatch flying off halfway down. (Lost on a holeshot to Denny Savage in round one, (6.188/231.95 to Gary's 6.150/231.95). In January '84, ND reported Densham winning a Sacramento match race win at 6.02/241, with the drive line breaking up, causing injuries. Notes: Also 7.61 at Mission. Kenny Goodell qualified his Challenger #15 at Ontario for the NHRA Supernationals with a 7.261/198.23. He nearly matched that time in the first round, with a 7.291/200.00 win when Don Schumacher broke a rear end. In round two, he slowed to 7.449/196.50 a loss to Larry Arnold's 7.381/196.50.

Notes: Dave was at Tri-City in June for a six-car race. All cars were to make two runs, with the two Low ET cars meeting in the final. In the first race, his 6.84/212.26 lost to Tom Prock's 6.40/221. In his second race, he improved to 6.46/224.43 to defeat Ron Colson in the "Hawaiian." Unfortunately, his time was not good enough to advance to the final. His next stop was at Bristol for the IHRA Springnationals. A 6.29 qualified second to Denny Savage's 6.28. He lost fire in the first round, giving his opponent, Les Cassidy, a solo into round two. In July, he was at Milan Dragway for the IHRA Northern Nationals. Settles' 6.13 qualified #1 for the eight-car field. Another strong run of 6.14/217.91 beat Al Bergler's 6.44/216 in the opening round, but in the semifinals, Tom Anderson's 6.12/229 beat his 6.17/215.32. Qualified 4th at Indy but lost to John Lombardo's big-time step-up run of 6.057 in round one. Stock stroke motor. Photo from IRP (Indy). - MO

Notes: The "Hawaiian" qualified #9 at Seattle for the NHRA Fallnationals, which meant that Colson had to run low qualifier Don Prudhomme in the opening round. Don's 6.23 put Ron's 6.32 on the trailer. The team was really running well at Sacramento for the Governor's Cup Championships. Colson ran a 6.16 on his way to a final-round meeting with Gordie Bonin. In the final, he improved to 6.14/226 to win over Bonin's 6.20. In Ontario for the NHRA World Finals, Ron's 6.18/225.56 qualified #2 behind Prudhomme. An opening round 6.24 beat Bonin, but in the second round, he smoked the tires and shut off to 8.66 in a loss to Ed McCulloch. The best NHRA national event times were the 6.184 at Ontario and 230.17 at Seattle (plus a nice 6.191 at Indy). South Chicago Auto Parts sponsored.

Notes: Meyer tried hard to be the NHRA Funny Car Champion for '77. You have to give him credit, as he had a rough season. Before the NHRA season started, he went to Irwindale for the New Year's Day race. He made it into the final before losing to Jim Dunn. At Pomona for the NHRA Winternationals where he failed to qualify. The same thing happened at the NHRA Gatornationals, where his best of 6.76 was good for the first alternate. A week later (March 20), he was at LaPlace for the NHRA Division 4 Opener, where he took the win. He stopped off at Irwindale for the 64-car Funny Car show but failed to run well enough to reach the finals. On May 15, he was in Houston for the NHRA Division 4 race. A 6.75/203 beat Paul Smith in the first round, but he got out of shape in the semifinals against eventual winner Dale Emery and shut off to an 8.78. Meyer's next stop was at Baton Rouge for the NHRA Cajun Nationals. It was only an eight-car field, and his 6.50/207.85 qualified #5, meaning that he would race low qualifier John Lombardo in the first round. John fouled in their first-round race, and Billy's 6.68/187.50 advanced. In the semifinals, he set Low ET with a 6.41/211.26 to beat Rob Bruins' 6.91/171 in the "Green Elephant." This put him into the finals against Johnny White. Unfortunately, Billy broke, and White got the win with a 6.64/197. At the NHRA Springnationals, Meyer qualified #2 with a 6.11 and lasted until the semifinals, where he broke a valve and slowed to a 7.05 loss to Bob Pickett. He did well at the Byron Manufacturer's Race, where he ran a best of 6.35. In the final, he ended up as runner-up to Don Prudhomme with his 6.44/228 losing to the "Snake's" 6.27/234. Meyer won the NHRA Division 3 race at US 131 Martin, Michigan, in July. A final round 6.22 (Low ET) at 219.31 beat Ron Colson's 6.34/218 in the "Hawaiian." It was then off to Englishtown for the NHRA Summernationals. He came off the trailer on Friday and blew an engine on a 6.46 qualifying attempt. After installing a new engine for Saturday's qualifying, Billy ran 6.17 to qualify the car easily, but he decided to make one more pass Saturday night. It was a 6.41. After qualifying ended, Meyer's 6.17/225.00 held for the #4 spot in the field. In the first round, Al Segrini shut down to a 12.76 while Billy hurt an engine on a 6.78. More thrashing in between rounds. In round two, he again got lucky when Dodger Glenn got out of shape and shut off the "Frantic Ford," and Meyer advanced with a 6.82/170. In the semifinals, he ran Ray Sherman, and Sherman went up in smoke, and a 6.66/193 propelled Billy into the final against Prudhomme. There, Meyer's Camaro broke, and Prudhomme soloed to the victory. He then followed the NHRA tour to Canada for the Grandnationals. It was an eight-car field, and his 6.33/216.34 qualified #4. In the opening round, Meyer's 6.54/205 beat Al Hanna's 6.47/222, but on the run, his engine let go, causing the car to go into a fireball. Meyer got it stopped, and he received second-degree burns on his hands. The Camaro body was destroyed, and the chassis was burnt pretty badly. He then borrowed Johnny White's Mustang to drive at the NHRA Division 4 race in Baton Rouge. He also borrowed Al Bergler's car. It wasn't until Indianapolis before he was back in his own car. There, he qualified in the dreaded #9 spot with a 6.18/227.84. That set up a first-round meeting with low qualifier Prudhomme. Don's 6.14/234 beat Billy's 6.28/218.97. Everything "clicked" for Meyer in Seattle for the NHRA Fallnationals. He qualified #2 with a 6.19/213.27. He made an easy 9.56 pass in the opening round when Mike Miller's Mustang broke on his burnout. He was involved in a tire-smoking battle with Jim Adolph that saw Meyer's 6.56 coming out on top in round two. He won his semifinal race with a 6.90/195 when Gary Cochran crossed the centerline in Jim Terry's Skyhawk. That put him in the final against Dunn. Jim was to slouch as he had run 6.2s in eliminations. In the final, Dunn shut off, and Meyer got his first NHRA National Event win with a 6.53/211.26. Billy is credited with starting the semi-tractor craze to racing (see the trailer in the rear). Featured in Car Craft's Rich Man, Poor Man article. Ran 6.76 at Gainesville, 6.110 at Columbus, 6.17 at Englishtown, 6.33 at Sanair, 6.18 at Indy, and 6.19 at Ontario.

Notes: Stan was at Edgewater in May for the NHRA Division 3 race. He set Low ET in qualifying #1 with a 6.21/211.76 but got crossed up in the opening round and lost to Chuck Finders. At the NHRA Springnationals, his 6.37/225.00 qualified #14, and he repeated the number in the first round but lost to John Lombardo's 6.27. He was at West Salem's Dragway 42 at the end of July for the AHRA Grandnationals. His 6.46/222.77 qualified #5. That set up a first-round meeting with low qualifier Tom Hoover. Graham got crossed up in their race and shut off to 11.73/89.91 while eventual winner, Hoover, ran 6.45/221 to advance. Early in August, he faced Gary Bolger driving the "Golddigger" in a best of three match race at Tri-City. The race didn't go three rounds as Stan won two straight with times of 6.48/219 and 6.60/215. He was at Martin, Michigan, shortly after for the PHR Championships. The first round was a qualifying round, and his 6.48 over Kenny Safford made the eight-car field. In the first round, he lost to Hoover again. Stan ran 6.35/229.59 in winning Beech Bend WCS over Billy Meyer in Al Bergler's car. He was the fifth alternate at NHRA Indy at 6.306/230.17. That was his last NHRA national event of the year. | Competitive with steel, '58 heads. - Joe Moore

Notes: The Condits went out on their own after Dave drove for Plueger & Gyger in late 1974 and drove the LA Hooker in 1975 and 1976. Best Appearing Car at 1978 NHRA Winternationals. Dave qualified #13 at Pomona for the NHRA Winternationals with a 6.398/203.61. An opening round 6.450/216.86 lost to Tom McEwen's 6.32/220. At the Bakersfield March Meet, Condit's 6.22/213.77 in the opening round defeated Gary Densham's 6.55/217. He got to solo in round two when John Force was unable to show, and he advanced with a 6.32/196.07. Unfortunately, the transmission locked up in the semifinal, and he could not race Tripp Shumake. Dave was at OCIR on May 13 for the NHRA Division Seven race. A 6.29 qualified #6 in the eight-car field. He and his opponent, John Force, smoked the tires in the first round, but Condit's 6.53/213.27 got the win light ahead of Force's 6.65/215. But an off-pace 6.70/181.08 in the semifinals lost to Henry Harrison's 6.26/223. The team failed to qualify at Indy with a 6.343/230.17 on 9/3/78 but could not qualify at Ontario for the NHRA World Finals.

Notes: Qualified #9 at NHRA Gainesville at 6.540/213.77 and dropped a first-round decision to eventual winner Gordie Bonin, 6.27/225 to 6.63 (no speed recorded). Midway through the 1977 racing season, the team of Jim Fox & Fred Frey decided to break from active participation and the hectic pace of all-night traveling and running the car 2/3 dates per week, week in and week out. With an agreement with Fox and Frey, the entire operation was handed over to Dodger to run as his own deal. | Glenn competed at the Dutch Classic at Maple Grove on May 15. He didn't run quick enough to gain access to the final round, but he did run 6.52/209 in one race to beat "Jungle Jim" Liberman's 6.66/206. Glenn qualified on the "bump" at Englishtown for the NHRA Summernationals with a 6.47/222.70. In the opening round of eliminations, his opponent, Dale Emery, fouled. It should have been an easy win for Glenn, but he blew the motor on his 6.39/230.17 pass. The team installed a new "bullet" for the next round, but the car got out of shape, and he lost to Billy Meyer, 6.82 to 6.96/182.18. That was the team's last NHRA national event in 1977.

Notes: Began the year in the 1975 car before the new car was completed. Ran 6.46 at Bakersfield March Meet 3/76. | Tom had a good season in '76. It could have been a great season if it wasn't for his old teammate Don Prudhomme. That could be said for a lot of the funny car drivers in '76 as the "Snake" was cleaning up and winning everything. McEwen started the year by winning the Nitro Bowl at Fremont in Jan. All fourteen cars in the field made three runs and the driver with the most wins was declared the winner. Tom started by running 6.52 to beat Jim Dunn, a second-round 6.56 beat Tommy Ivo and a 6.51 in his last race beat Ed McCulloch's close 6.52. He then went to Tucson where he qualified #7 in the eight-car field for the AHRA Winternats. Traction was marginal at best and Tom beat Gary Burgin's 7.02 in the first round, with a 6.99. In the semifinals, he smoked the tires and shut off to a 12.74 loss to Shirl Greer's 6.84. He did not go to Beeline and race the NHRA Phoenix Winter Classic, but he was at Pomona for the NHRA Winternationals McEwen ran a best of 6.37/230.17 that failed to qualify. He then won the OCIR East-West meet the following week. He lost to "Jungle Jim" Liberman in the first round, at the Bakersfield March Meet.

Notes: Burned up his Monza at Columbus 1976. Wallace finished the year with this Vega. Wallace qualified #6 at Englishtown for the NHRA Summernationals with a 6.449/230.17. An opening round 6.491/214.28 beat a troubled Rick Johnson who shut down early, but in round two he had difficulties and shut off to 12.05 in a loss to Gary Burgin's 6.29. Pee Wee qualified #6 at Sanaair at 6.517/213.77. He lost to Tom Prock in round one, 6.43/219 to 6.64/210.77. That was his final NHRA national event of the year.

Notes: Hoover qualified #6 at Pomona with a 5.38/265.40 for the NHRA Winternationals. Unfortunately, in the first round, an even better 5.37/275.14 lost to Dale Pulde's 5.36/269 in a close race. At the NHRA Arizona Nationals, he qualified #2 with a 5.31/273.55. He beat Jerry Caminito in the first round, but in round two, his 5.47/266.27 fell to Pulde's 5.32/268. The next NHRA event was the Supernationals at Houston. Tom again qualified well, running a 5.34/260.64 for the #5 spot in the field. He beat Whit Bazemore in the first round, with a 5.40/259.21. But it was a costly win as Hoover hurt his motor and could not run Mark Oswald in the "Candies and Hughes" Probe in round two. The "Showtime's" next stop was at Darlington for the IHRA Winternationals. It was an eight-car show, and Tom qualified #5, but in the first round, he smoked the tires and lost to the eventual winner Chuck Etchells. He lost in the first round, the following week (March 18) at the NHRA Gatornationals. He qualified #10 with a 5.51/253.02, but Caminito beat him in round one. Atlanta hosted the fifth race of the NHRA season, the Southern Nationals, and Tom qualified #9 with a 5.44. He was starting a habit that he would have loved to shake: that is, losing in round one. Paul Smith stepped up to a 5.29 to drop him in that round. Tom's best times this year were 5.311 at Phoenix and 275.65 at Englishtown.

Notes: Jim qualified on the "bump" with a 6.086/250.97 at Pomona for the Winternationals. in the first round, an off pace 6.189/226.47 lost to Rick Johnson's 5.66/259. On April 6, he was at Firebird Raceway for the Coors Funny Car Championships. His 6.08/245.23 in the opening round beat a tire-smoking Tom McEwen. In his second race, he ran another 6.08 at 243.90, but he lost to John Force's blower popping 5.82/247. He was at Bakersfield in May for the "March Meet." Jim's 6.10/245.90 qualified #5 in the eight-car field. That set up a first-round meeting with Rick Johnson, driving the "Hawaiian." Unfortunately, Dunn smoked the tires, and eventual winner Johnson advanced with a 5.76/252. Had tragic wreck at Nitefire Nationals in Boise, ID in '85 where a spectator was killed after the car went through the wire fence and throttle got hung up. We formerly listed 6.05 for Jim this year. Removing that until we get confirmation.
