Notes: Built by the Antiques car club in Scotty's Muffler Shop, this blown roadster made a sound reminiscent of the old Speed Sport rear-engine roadster, Old Noisy. It was a frequent racer and winner at nearby Colton Drag Strip. At Riverside on July 12 it ran 11.18 at 121.82 mph to win the A/R class. It took top gas eliminator at Colton on July 18 with 12.11 at 122.63 mph. On July 26 at Riverside it took an A/R class win at 11.42 at 119.25 mph. It won its class again at Riverside on August 9 with 12.45 at 109.09 mph. In August, Colton began experimenting with 3/16 mile drag racing. At Colton on Aug. 15, Barnett took a 3/16-mile class win with 10.51 at 103.09 mph. Two weeks later at Colton at the 3/16-mile races, he took top gas eliminator with a best clocking of 9.67 and 114.50 mph. On September 12 at Colton, he set a track A/R record with 9.68 at 117.34 mph for the 3/16th mile. The next week he took an A/R class win at Lions with 11.66 at 118.73 mph. On September 26 he returned to the 3/16th-mile racing at Colton to win the A/R class with 9.51 at 113.50 mph. The next week at Colton he won top gas eliminator with 9.50 at 114.35 mph. At Colton the following week he won the A/R class for the 3/16th-mile with 9.89 at 114.21 mph. To close out the season, Colton alternated with 1/4 mile and 3/16th-mile races. On November 1, the '23 T roadster won the A/R class with 126.40 mph at a quarter mile race. Barnett finished up the year with a class win at Riverside on Nov. 29 with 11.37 at 124.31 mph.
