Notes: Gary qualified #1 at Pomona for the NHRA Winternationals with a 7.91/187.88. A 7.94/190.72 in the first round, beat Gordon Craig's 8.02/189. In round two, he hurt his motor on an 8.44/131.57 run that advanced when Dick Padar shut off. He borrowed a motor for the semifinals, and it produced an 8.04/163.93 but lost to Kelly Brown's 8.03/185 in the "Diaz-Brown" car. Murphy was at Irwindale for an eight-car show on May 27, but his 8.13/178.92 in the opening round of eliminations lost to Bob Noice's 7.98/188. |

Notes: Credited with a 7.72 in 1966. Can this be verified? | Not many gas dragsters had a Cadillac as a push car, but this one did. Tom Larkin had been racing for 11 years. He started with a '55 Chevy and moved up through the classes until he ran this Top Gas dragster in '66. It was based on a 132" chassis built by Roy Fjasted at Speed Products Engineering. The engine was a 392 Hemi that used a Delta stroker crank to achieve 462 cubic inch It used M/T rods and 7.5:1 pistons along with a Crower cam. Mondello was responsible for the porting and polishing of the heads. Both the intake and the exhaust valves were 2/1/16" and came from Donovan. An M/T manifold secured the Larry Bowers prepared magnesium blower that was overdriven 24%. The blower drive was from Delta. The power was put to the ground through an Olds rear with 3.90 gears. This was the third gas dragster to run a "seven.” It came at Lions on April 23 when Larkin ran 7.98. Tom reset the NHRA record to 8.11 on May 1 at Half Moon Bay for the NHRA Division 7 race. To prove it was no fluke, he also won Top Gas eliminator with a final round 8.01/190.66. |

Notes: Jack was at Lions for an eight-car show on March 18. The field had an 8.12 "bump," and he qualified easily (#4). Unfortunately, he lost to Frank Lee in the first round. On April 15, he was back at Lions for another eight-car show. His 7.93 qualified second behind Larry Bowers' 7.83. He lasted until the semifinal before losing to Bob Noice. |

Notes: Note the correct spelling of 'LeColst' per Bill Schultz. | Kelly qualified #3 at Pomona for the NHRA Winternationals with a 7.97/191.08. He beat Ron Colson in the first round, with a 7.95/189.06 and another 7.95 at 189.46 beat Mark Pieri in round two. He smoked to an 8.03/185.18, but it was still enough to beat low qualifier Gary Murphy's 8.04/163. That put him into the final against Gordon Collett in which he lost. |

Notes: Qualified at Pomona 1966 with an 8.31. One of just a handful of 7 second TG cars in 1966. He was runner-up to Billy Scott at San Fernando on May 1 where his 8.27/189.06 lost to Scott's 8.31/189. Amyx fatally injured in crash at Lions May 1966. It happened in qualifying for the eight-car show on May 21. The engine let go and Harrell crashed hard. He was taken to the hospital and was originally thought to be OK with minor injuries. But shortly after, he died of a skull fracture. He was 33 years old. |
