Notes: The Twisters car club of Vista built this dragster, probably driven primarily by Don Bennett in 1957 and early 1958. Its first outing may have been on Sep. 17 at San Gabriel Valley Drag Strip where it turned 128.18 mph. It had a couple of outings at Santa Ana, taking Top Eliminator on Dec. 1. On Dec. 29 at the Perryville Airstrip in Arizona, the dragster set a new track record in B/OG class with 128.02 mph. This was a portent of good things to come in 1958. Notes: After Joe Tucci was paralyzed following the mid-summer accident at Petersburg, VA, Bilbow built a new dragster using Tucci's motor from the mangled old race car. Bilbow took over the driving duties, but Tucci, who used a wheelchair, did his tuning. In one of Bilbow's first outings at York U.S. 30 on Sep. 10, he clocked 9.27 at 163.636 mph. Two weeks later, at York, he got Top Eliminator with 9.18 at 166.66 mph as one of the country's top ten gas dragsters, Bilbow and Tucci decided to take the dragster out to Southern California for a few weeks.
