Notes: I belong to the Classic Gassers and run B/Gas. I have been racing this car for nearly 20 years down here in Florida. It won its class at the Gateway Gasser Gathering in St. Louis 1999. Notes: Jack was at Englishtown on July 30, where he reset the NHRA A/GS record down to 9.61. He had just reset it two weeks previous to 9.64. His speed on the run was 140.34. He then came out and lowered it again with a 9.53 at 147.54. He also ran the car in BB/A the same day and reset that record to 9.61 after an earlier 9.70 run on a 9.75 record. His speed on the two runs were 145.86 and 146.10. The car was within the legal weight, falling in at 2,225 lbs. Jack won B/GS class at Indy with the previous car, his '39 Willys coupe, two years running ('63-'64). This car followed the same recipe: blown small-block Chevy bolted to a hydro trans. Notes: This car was found in storage around 2000 as a rolling chassis (never had engine, trans, wiring, fuel system, etc.) This original steel bodied car was originally built in the mid to late 70's, but wasn't finished until Mullin Motor Sports completed the build with help from Easy Street Performance Fabrication (chassis builders) located in Lock Port, Illinois (708) 362/0269, and Romito Race Engines in Frankfort, Illinois (708) 479/7223, plus a lot of help from friends and family. The car is seen most often at Nostalgia events in the Mid-West such as the NHRA Hot Rod Reunion in Bowling Green, KY, Goodguys events at Indianapolis, Norwalk, OH, Joliet IL, at the Muscle Car Reunion at Gateway, and with the Mid-West Gassers at Union Grove, WI. It was built with 1969 NHRA Supercharged, Gas class rules in mind and runs a Mooneyham 6:71 Blower with 2 Quick Fuel 750 CFM gas carbs on a 427 CI small block Chevy/Dart block. The trans in a TH 400 with a Coan break, and the rear axel is a Moser 9 with 4:10 Pro gears. The chassis is 2x3 box with chromemoly 12 point cage, Koni coil overs all around with Alston ladder bars and independent front suspension. Current Sponsors are Quick Fuel Technologies located in Bowling Green, KY, Easy Street Race Car Fabrication in Lock Port, IL, and Ray Romito Racing Engines in Frankfort, IL. |
