Notes: Frederick Garth Hardacre was a longtime crewman of the Arfons brothers who also drove their jet cars. He was killed on May 10/1970, at Pittsburgh International Dragway while driving Art Arfons' Jetvette in a race against Walt Arfons' jet Mustang. He lost control at the top end and hit a steel guardrail. Newspaper accounts say he was turning "about" 250 mph at the time of the accident, so posted time is approximate. - RT |

Notes: Renewed Auto Palace, Pontiac sponsorships. Match raced two car father/son team nationwide. Designed and built two new track dryers for NHIS. Ran a new best ET for center-drive car at 5.77 seconds. As a result of his continuing work on a television series, Al debuted a new series on CBS sports - the inaugural "Ultra Teams Challenge" featuring jet funny cars and dragsters. This was the first time CBS covered drag racing in their history and the show was a success. Voted Pro-Jet "Person of the Year" for his achievement with the CBS "Ultra Team" event. |

Notes: World's First Jet Funny Car. The J-46 Westinghouse jet, formerly powering the Vought F7U Cutlass, was the weed burner of choice for most of the Arfons family's drag ventures. During 1967 Walt Arfons' stable alone included three jet funny cars and a pair of jet dragsters, all touring simultaneously. - RT |

Notes: Brand new car for 2007. Also 5.69 at Atco testing 2007. | One of my favorite runs captured on film. 2007 vs. Paul Miller who was very fast at the time. 89 degrees at 10:15 pm, 2900' corrected altitude. My 5.61 at 281.89 beat his red-lighting 5.65. A very proud night for the team. - Rich Hanna |
