Notes: Clark ran a career-best (to this point) 7.63 at 179.14 to qualify #13 at Gainesville for the NHRA Gatornationals. Unfortunately, he lost to Bruce Allen in the first round. He was the ninth alternate for the NHRA Southern Nationals at Atlanta with a 7.73/179.49. Was still in the 81 Camaro at Columbus. |

Notes: In June, Frank was at Hallsville Dragstrip for the Texas Pro Stock Association opener. It was a 1,000-foot track, and Sicinski qualified #1 with a 6.76 (Low ET) at 159.87. Pat Pesz fouled against him in the first round, and Frank's 7.22/151.51 advanced. He had a close race with Richard Otwell in the semi-final that saw the T-Bird's 6.93/157.89 beat the Firebird's 6.94/149. He faced the only other Ford in the field in the final, Neil Hieb's T-Bird. We have no times for the final, but Sicinski picked up the win. |

Notes: Number 3 qualifier at Indy 82 at 7.784 and then runner up to Frank Iaconio at Indy, 7.803 to 7.809. #3 qualifier at first 500-inch pro stock race at the Winters, 7.899/174.08. This car was being built by Don Hardy with the intent to run a 351 Cleveland motor. When NHRA switched to the 500 ci rules format, Ford wanted Bob to run the EXP anyway. Glidden had to shove a Boss 429 into the little 92" wheelbase car and hope for the best. He stated after he retired that it was the worst car he ever drove and that it handled like a fuel altered. Even with his limited experience with the 429 (he had tried a small cubic inch Boss motor in testing in '81) he managed to qualify #3 at the season-opening NHRA Winternationals with a 7.89/174.08. He stayed in the sevens during eliminations, running a 7.94/172.74 over Don Campanello in the first round, and a 7.95/173.41 over Jim Meyer in round two, but going up against Lee Shepherd in the semifinals, Bob fouled. The Gatornationals showed how far behind the Glidden's were with the little car. His mph readings were great, third highest in qualifying at 174.41. But the car wouldn't ET. His 7.97 qualified #9 in the field setting up a first-round meeting with low qualifier Shepherd. In that race, Bob's 8.09/171.75 finished second to Lee's 7.86/175. Things went slightly better in Atlanta for the NHRA Southern Nationals. Glidden's 8.03/174 got past a fouling Frank Iaconio in the first round, and in the semifinal, a 7.89/173 beat Joe Lepone's 8.00/170 in Bill Jenkins' Camaro. The EXP was in its first final round appearance, but an 8.02/174.41 performance gave Bob a runner-up finish to Shepherd's 7.81/174. A 7.90 qualified #3 at the NHRA Cajun Nationals. He beat Andy Mannarino in the first round, but facing Shepherd in the semifinal Bob fouled out. Somehow the car got down the track straight in four runs to win the NHRA Springnationals. This was Bob's only NHRA win of '82. He qualified #2 with a 7.82/175.43. He had a little luck in the semifinals when Warren Johnson fouled away a 7.96 to Glidden's 8.01. But in the final, he met Shepherd again. This time Bob outran the Texas Camaro with a 7.92/170.77 to Lee's 7.93/172. He got another runner-up finish to Shepherd at the NHRA Mile High Nationals in Denver. An 8.31 qualified #2 and in the first round, an 8.35/162.45 beat Bubba Corzine. In the semifinals, he beat Don Coonce, but his final round 8.30/156.79 lost to Lee's 8.27/164. Glidden made it as far as the semifinals at the NHRA Grandnationals. There he lost a 7.84 to 7.85 decision to WJ. At the NHRA Summernationals at Englishtown, a 7.83/177.86 (Top Speed) qualified #2. He ran a 7.94 in the first round, over Mannarino, but an off pace 8.10/154 lost in round two to Lepone. In August, he was at US 131 for the PHR Championships. He ran a 7.83/172.74 to qualify #3. In the first round, a 7.85/173.41 beat Lepone's 7.99/169. But in the semifinals, once again his nemesis Shepherd downed him with a 7.85/174 over Bob's 7.94/173.07. He got his first pole of the year at the next NHRA event, the Northstar Nationals. Bob ran 7.87 (Low ET) at 174.75 to get the spot. Unfortunately, in the first round, both he and Iaconio ran 7.92 with Frank getting the win at 168 mph over Glidden's hard-charging 174.08. At Indy for the US Nationals, the EXP dipped into the 7.7's for the first time, qualifying #3 with a 7.78. Bob made it into yet another final (his fourth of the year), but this time it wasn't against Shepherd. Iaconio had taken Lee out in the semifinal, so it was Frank facing off against Bob this time. Both ran 7.80's in the final, with the EXP hitting 175.78 to the Camaro's 173. But Iaconio got the win and Bob had to settle for another runner-up spot. Bob qualified third in the eight-car field at Fremont with a best-ever 7.680 at 178.92 for the NHRA Golden Gate Nationals on October 3. He beat Lepone's 7.85/172 in the first round, with a 7.70/178.21. In the semifinals, he lost to Shepherd. |

Notes: Bubba Corzine had a good year in '83. At Pomona for the NHRA Winternationals, he qualified #9 with a 7.90/173.74. Unfortunately, he faced low qualifier, Bob Glidden, in round one, and his 8.01/172.08 lost to Bob's 7.86/174. At the Gatornationals, a 7.804/177.51 qualified #12, and in the opening round, he fouled away a 7.83 against Frank Iaconio who advanced with a 7.69. He stopped off at Green Valley Raceway on April 10 for a four-car show. Corzine set Low ET and Top Speed in qualifying #1 with a 7.72/178.92. In the opening round, his 7.87/175.43 beat Chuck Nuyten's 8.16/168, and in the final, his 7.86/176.12 picked up the victory over Eddie Conrad's 8.12/168. The Southern Nationals at Atlanta featured only an eight-car field. Bubba was able to run 7.85/175.78 to qualify #6, but he fouled away a 7.92 in the opening round against the eventual winner Lee Shepherd, who advanced with a 7.85/172. He also lost to Shepherd in the first round at the NHRA Cajun Nationals, where he fouled again. He qualified #7 in the eight-car field with a 7.85/175.09. Shepherd continued to have Corzine's number at the next NHRA event, the Springnationals. There Bubba's 7.92/175.09 qualified #9, and that forced him to run Shepherd, who qualified #1 in the first round. Corzine pushed the tree a little too hard and fouled away a 7.94, while Lee moved on with a 7.86. He then made a stop at St.Louis for the AHRA Gateway Nationals. He qualified #3 in the sixteen car field with a 7.93/176.13, and he lasted until round two where the car broke. He did not attend the Grandnationals, but he was at Englishtown for the Summernationals. There a 7.97/172.74 qualified #12. In the first round, his 7.94/173.41 fell to Don Coonce's 7.87/174. A couple of weeks later, he was at Denver for the Mile High Nationals. It was another eight-car show, and his 8.39/164.23 qualified #7 in the thin air. An opening round 8.38/162.16 lost to Warren Johnson's 8.22/170. The next stop on the NHRA tour was the Northstar Nationals at Brainerd. Once again, Corzine qualified well, running an 8.01/171.42 for the #13 spot. He lost to Coonce in the opening round. Bubba's Gatornationals times were the best NHRA national event times of the year. | Sharp Chaparral outfit at the '82 Finals. In '83 they came back with Tharp, Schultz, and a Swindahl. - Joe Moore |

Notes: Listed times from The Drag Racing List December 86/January 87, Volume 1, Number 9. Wyman attempted to qualify at Atlanta for the NHRA Southern Nationals. Unfortunately, his 8.221/167.72 was the slowest of the 32 cars attempting to make the field. Where did Wyman run the 7.845/178.92? |

Notes: Tom, Dick, and Harry Scribner had an unusual entry in competition. When they showed up at an event, they were sure to have the only Cougar running in Pro Stock. On January 19, the team was at Firebird for the Super Bowl of Drag Racing event. There were only four Pro Stock cars there, but Scribner ran the best time, a 7.87/174.75. The '86 NHRA season started at Pomona for the Winternationals. Harry ran a best of 7.811/178.21 in qualifying, but failed to make the show. The team also failed to qualify at the NHRA Gatornationals and the NHRA Southern Nationals where a 7.732/178.92 best was good for the eighth alternate. Those ended up being the team’s best times for the season. They were sixth alternate with a 7.78/178.11 best at Baton Rouge for the NHRA Cajun Nationals. They followed the tour to Columbus for the NHRA Springnationals where once again they failed to qualify. This time, Harry was the twelfth alternate with a 7.83/177.40 best. They were learning fast why Bob Glidden was the only competitive Ford in NHRA Pro Stock. The going was tough. At the NHRA Grandnationals, a 7.79/178.14 best left them as the fourth alternate for the show and at Englishtown for the NHRA Summernationals, a 7.74/177.65 failed to qualify as well. The team traveled to Denver for the NHRA Mile High Nationals, but once again failed to make the show with an 8.15/169.17 best in the thin air. Shortly after this, the team went to Martin, Michigan, for the PHR Championships. It was their first IHRA sanctioned event and their 500 cubic inch engine was up against some 700 cubic inch "Mountain Motors.” Still, Harry ran 7.83/176.12 to qualify #13. An opening round 7.84/176.47 lost to eventual winner Rickie Smith's 7.42/183. At Brainerd for the NHRA Northstar Nationals, Harry's 7.79/176.81 failed to qualify. The next event on the NHRA trail was the NHRA US Nationals at Indy. It took a 7.60 to make the sixteen-car field and their best of 7.73/178.21 was only good for the sixteenth alternate position. The Cougar was a crowd pleaser, but it needed a few more ponies to get into these shows. These were hard fields to qualify at and despite not qualifying, they were still running well. At Maple Grove in September for the NHRA Keystone Nationals, a 7.73/177.97 best failed to qualify (tenth alternate). Harry was twelfth alternate at the NHRA Chief Nationals at the Texas Motorplex with a 7.78/177.40 best. The team didn't give up, running a 7.79/173.98 for the eighth alternate at Phoenix for the NHRA Fallnationals and a 7.85/176.88 that failed to qualify at the NHRA World Finals at Pomona. You have to give them credit; in a Pro Stock world of Camaros and Firebirds at the time, they choose to be different and ran the untried Cougar body style. Not sure how much the rear window configuration did for aerodynamics. All in all, it was a refreshing change, but I'm not sure the boys would agree, as they were probably sick of not making the fields. They still finished 24th in the season long NHRA points chase as points are awarded even for attempting to qualify at national events. Did the team run 180 mph somewhere this year? (They did not at an NHRA national event). |

Notes: The last Pro Stock car Don Hardy built. Considering the relatively short time Rickie had been racing in Pro Stock (since mid-1979), he was quite competitive in the NHRA ranks. He had been racing in IHRA for years in the Super Modified class. He dominated the class so much with his Maverick that they abandoned it. Entering into Pro Stock, he stayed with IHRA and was the first to run a "7" there. He was the '82 IHRA P/S World Champ. NHRA was a whole new ball game for him. Smith switched from his trusty Mustang to this all-new T-Bird for '83. It was a good-looking ride, and it caught the eyes of some crooks as it was stolen just before the NHRA Winternationals. Rickie got it back and repaired the vandalized car, but it was ready for eliminations. Smith qualified #6 with a 7.887/177.51. He had one of three Fords that qualified. In the opening round, his 7.91/176.47 beat Gordie Rivera's 8.01/170. In the second round, eventual winner Frank Iaconio ran 7.79/175 to beat his 7.96/173.41. At Gainesville, for the NHRA Gatornationals, the same three Fords qualified for the show (Bob Glidden, Roy Hill, and Smith). Smith was the quickest of the group at 7.74/176.81, which put him #6 overall. A 7.76/175.43 in the opening round beat Roy Hill's 7.99/159. He had a very close race with Reid Whisnant in round two, where both ran 7.75 (Smith at 175.43), but Rickie got the win. Once again, Iaconio had his number, and in the semifinal, the Camaro's 7.68/181 put the T-Bird's 7.80/177.51 on the trailer. Things didn't go too well at Atlanta for the NHRA Southern Nationals. It was an eight-car show, and Smith's 7.95/174.41 best was the fourth alternate. It was unusual that no Fords qualified there. Smith was busy running the IHRA Circuit as well, and after winning two IHRA races with the big engine combination, he showed up at Baton Rouge at the end of May for the NHRA Cajun Nationals. This was another eight-car field, and this time his 7.90/174.75 qualified on the "bump." Once again, the same three Fords qualified for the show. Unfortunately, Rickie didn't hang around long as in the first round, Glidden's 7.87/176 beat his 7.96/172.74. He won an IHRA race at Bristol the following week before returning to NHRA for its Springnationals in Columbus. A 7.85/174.75 qualified #6, but in round one, his 7.89/173.07 fell to Whisnant's Mopar at 7.83/171. At Englishtown, for the NHRA Summernationals, he fell back a bit in qualifying. His 7.95/175.09 qualified #11, and he went out in the first round, where his fouling 8.00/174.41 lost to Glidden's 7.79/177. He did not race at Denver for the NHRA Mile-High Nationals, but he was at Martin, Michigan, for the PHR Championships. This was an eight-car show, and he qualified on the "bump" with a 7.88/175.09. Smith beat Don Campanello in the opening round before fouling against Warren Johnson in the semifinal. He shut down to 8.09/141.73 in the loss. He bypassed the NHRA Northstar Nationals but was one of almost 50 Pro Stock drivers attempting to qualify at Indy for the NHRA U.S. Nationals. His 7.84/177.16 qualified #7. In round one, he improved to 7.82/176.81 to defeat Dave Hutchens' 7.95/174. In round two, his 7.91/176.47 fell to Iaconio's 7.77/177. The next race on the NHRA schedule was the Golden Gate Nationals held at Fremont early in October. Almost everyone that qualified for the tough eight-car fields ran personal bests. Smith found himself on the "bump" with a 7.78/178.57. In the first round, he upset WJ with a 7.80/178.71 that beat the Cutlass' 7.88/174. In the semifinal, he fouled away a 7.83 against Lee Shepherd, who won with a 7.70/176. The NHRA's season came to a close at OCIR for the World Finals. Smith qualified #11 there with a 7.79/177.51. But his day was cut short in the first round, where WJ beat him. Still, he finished seventh in the points for his first full season in NHRA competition. That was ahead of many drivers that had been running a lot longer in the class. Rickie's best times came from Gainesville and Fremont at 7.745/178.71, respectively. |

Notes: Reid was one of the few Mopar Pro Stock campaigners in '85. At Pomona for the NHRA Winternationals, his best of 7.820/175.57 was good for the sixth alternate. He did not appear on the qualifying lists for the NHRA Gatornationals but entered the NHRA Southern Nationals, where his 7.880/176.40 was the eighth alternate. Reid made a trip to Bandimere for Mile-High Nationals, but his 8.313/170.45 was a second alternate DNQ. He was the fifth alternate DNQ at Indy, with his best times of the year at 7.791/178.71. Reid finished the year at Pomona, where his 7.839/178.64 finished as the sixth alternate. Whisnant entered the 1986 season in a Chevy Camaro. |

Notes: Doug Williams second car Texas Pro Stock Association. Mark was at Houston in October for the Armadillo Nationals. He qualified #1 with a 7.81/174.41. It was an eight-car show, but only seven showed so Mark got the "odd-lot" solo in the first round, and ran 7.87/165.44. In the semifinals, his 7.84/173.09 lost to Carl Bell's 7.76/183. His next stop was at the Texas Motorplex for the fifth Texas Pro Stock Association race. A career best 7.69 at 178.67 qualified #2 behind teammate Bell's 7.53. A 7.97/166.29 in the first round, beat Frank Sicinski and a semifinal 7.75/163.19 beat Bobby Burns. In the final he faced Kim Barr and another 7.69/170.71 got the victory over Kim's 7.82/169. |

Notes: The 7.62 at 176.47 was a questionable run but has never been disproved. Lee Shepherd came from behind to clinch his third straight Winston Pro Stock championship after points leader and No. 1 qualifier Frank Iaconio was upset by Reid Whisnant in round one. Whisnant clocked a stunning 7.620, the quickest run ever by a Pro Stocker in NHRA competition. - NHRA | Whisnant also ran a 7.71 early in the season but was mired in the 7.80s for most of 1983. | Reid Whisnant had the lone Mopar to qualify at Pomona for the NHRA Winternationals. His 7.88 qualified #8, and in the opening round, he beat Harry Scribner. In round two, his 7.95/177.16 beat Ronnie Manchester's 8.01/172, but a semifinal 8.05 lost to eventual winner Frank Iaconio's 7.83. It was a good showing for the Mopar, and he continued to run well at Gainesville for the NHRA Gatornationals, where Reid qualified #2 with a 7.71/178.57 behind Lee Shepherd's 7.67/181. He beat Mark Yuill in round one before losing to Rickie Smith in round two, where both drivers ran 7.75. Whisnant then went to Darlington for the IHRA Winternationals, where he qualified #7, but an 8.02 in the first round, lost to Mickey Stephens' 7.94. He was the only non-GM car to qualify for the eight-car field at Atlanta for the NHRA Southern Nationals. He qualified #5, which set up a first-round meeting with low qualifier Iaconio. The Camaro got out of shape, and Reid advanced to the semifinals, where he lost to Joe Lepone. The Mopar driver continued to impress when he went to Rockingham for the IHRA Pro-Am Nationals. The Rock had 26 cars attempting to qualify, and his 7.80 qualified #8. Unfortunately, he lost early. |

Notes: Manchester started the season by qualifying #4 at Pomona for the NHRA Winternationals with a strong 7.86/175.09. An opening round 7.95/173.14 beat Terry Sherrill's 8.10/169, but a round two 8.01/172.41 fell to the lone Mopar in the show, Reid Whisnant, who advanced with a 7.95/177. The Gatornationals field was tough. Ronnie ran 7.858/178.47 in qualifying, but that was only good enough for the #15 spot. In the first round, he fouled away a 7.90 against Bob Glidden, who advanced with a 7.75. He failed to qualify at the next NHRA race, the Southern Nationals at Atlanta. A 7.93/173.41 best was only good enough for the second alternate for the eight-car show. He then went to Maple Grove on May 1st for its U.S. P/S Manufacturers Championships. This was another eight-car field, and his 7.97 qualified #5. That set up a first-round meeting with low qualifier Frank Iaconio. Manchester repeated his qualifying number at 170.45, but it wasn't good enough to beat Frank's 7.88/178. But he got back into the show on the "break rule" and ended up running Joe Lepone in the final. Joe was running about a tenth faster, and it stayed that way in the final, with Manchester's 7.98/170.45 losing to Lepone's 7.90/171. Ronnie's best times of the year happened in qualifying at Indy, 7.850/178.57. |

Notes: Reid entered the 1984 NHRA season with a lot to prove after his amazing 7.620 at the World Finals in 1983. He started inauspiciously with a 7.918/175.09 first alternate shot at the Winternationals. However, he did get into the show and lost to Warren Johnson in the first round, 7.884/178.21 to 7.886/176.12. Reid then brought out a brand new Don Hardy Daytona at Gainesville. He was first alternate DNQ at 7.844/176.81 but got into the show and – like the World Finals a few months earlier – ran an out-of-this-world 7.615/174.41 to defeat Ken Dondero’s 7.814/175.78 in round one. Amazingly, a two-tenths Dondero holeshot (.450 to .646) almost stole the race. The margin of victory was .003 seconds! This run only added to the mystery and suspicion about Whisnant’s combination, especially after Don Coonce defeated him in round two, 7.78/179 to a ‘normal’ 7.893/175.09 from Reid. Whisnant followed this with DNQ efforts in Atlanta (7.943/174.75) and Columbus (7.940/176.12). He qualified #15 at Sanair at 7.839/178.57 and lost in round one, to Frank Iaconio, 7.76/180 to 7.956/176.47. Reid was a third alternate DNQ at Englishtown at 7.854/175.78 and also DNQ’d at Indy at 7.881/176.47. He qualified #14 at the World Finals at 7.814/176.47. He got a legit win over Andy Mannarino in round one, 7.890/175.78 to 8.015/176.12, but lost to Butch Leal in round two, 7.765/178.92 to 7.867- 176.47. Reid was a hard-running campaigner who often qualified and ran well. But his ability to drop two tenths from his normal times in 1983/1984 will have pro stock fans forever questioning those low 7.6 second runs. |

Notes: Manchester did not race at Pomona for the NHRA Winternationals, but he did go to Gainesville for the NHRA Gatornationals. Forty-six cars were attempting to qualify for the sixteen-car field, and his 7.784/176.81 qualified #13. In the opening round of eliminations, his 7.84/178.57 lost to Frank Iaconio's 7.71/180. In the middle of April, he was in Atlanta for the NHRA Southern Nationals. A 7.853/177.16 qualified #10, and once again, he was paired up against Iaconio in the opening round. This time, Ronnie's 7.820/175.43 got the better of Iaconio's 7.93/149. unfortunately, he lost to Don Campanello in round two, 7.91/177 to 7.95/154. He did not go to Baton Rouge for the NHRA Cajun Nationals. His next stop was at Capitol Raceway's Pro Stock Shootout event. There he finished runner-up to Ken Dondero. Ron then went to Columbus for the NHRA Springnationals, where he qualified #13 at 7.857/175.78, but he lost in the first round to a Gordie Rivera holeshot, 7.88/176 to 7.85/176. He also lost early at Martin, Michigan, for the PHR Championships after qualifying #4 with a 7.78. Ron was at Maple Grove on June 24 for the Super Stock Nationals. He qualified #4 in the eight-car field with a 7.75/177.16. But he slept on the line in the opening round, and his 7.80 lost to Reid Whisnant's 7.91. At the NHRA Grandnationals in Canada, Ronnie qualified #10 at 7.773/178.21. But he again went out early with a first-round loss to Lee Shepherd, 7.77/178 to 7.92/176. Englishtown was the next stop on the NHRA calendar for the Summernationals. Manchester's 7.775/176.47 got him the #11 spot in the show. In the first round, he improved to 7.749/177.51 to beat Dondero's 7.79/178 before losing to Sam Carroll in round two, 7.86/175 to 7.92/175. Ron qualified #11 at Denver with an 8.24/169. In round one, he lost to Bob Glidden, 8.14/169 to 8.23/166. Brainerd was next, and Ron qualified #12 at 7.868/175.78. He fouled against Iaconio in round one, tossing out a 7.865. Ron really moved up the ladder at Indy for the NHRA US Nationals, where his 7.737/177.86 qualified in the top half of the field (#6). He beat Jerry Eckman in round one with a 7.77/176 before his consistent 7.76/177.51 lost to the eventual winner Warren Johnson's 7.64/182. Ron wrapped up the year with a #12 qualifying effort of 7.787/176.47 at the World Finals. He fouled against Butch Leal in round one. In NHRA's season-long points chase, Manchester finished tenth. Ronnie's best times were 7.737 at Indy and 178.57 at Gainesville. Photo from Indy 84. |

Notes: Hill had Budget Rental Car come on board for the '84 season and had a new 18-wheeler to haul his two new Capri's. Motorcraft stayed to board as well. He was racing in both IHRA and NHRA events this season. Roy started the NHRA season by qualifying #10 with a 7.83 at Pomona for the Winternationals. His 7.85/176.81 lost to eventual winner Lee Shepherd's 7.73/178 in the first round. At the Gatornationals, 46 cars showed up to qualify for the 16 spots, and he again qualified #10 (7.75/178.57). A first-round 7.87 beat Bob Glidden's quicker 7.81, but in the second round, the Capri broke and gave opponent Butch Leal a free pass into the semifinals. Hill just made the field with a 7.87/174.75 (#16) in Atlanta on April 15 for the Southern Nationals. He fouled away a 7.96/174.08 in the first round against Ken Dondero. Baton Rouge was NHRA's next stop for the Cajun Nationals. Roy qualified #9 with a 7.80/177.16. In the first round, he faced low qualifier Warren Johnson and upset him with a 7.84/176, beating Johnson's 7.89/179. Unfortunately, his 7.89/178 lost to Glidden's 7.74/182 in the second round. His next stop was at Maple Grove for the Super Stock Nationals. Unfortunately, he failed to qualify for the eight-car field. He also failed to qualify at Englishtown for the NHRA Summernationals. The next stop on the NHRA schedule was the Mile-High Nationals in Denver. Hill's 8.28/168.95 qualified #13 but in round one, his off-pace 8.69/146.81 fell to Butch Leal's 8.20/166. He also lost in the opening round at Brainerd for the NHRA Northstar Nationals. Indy had 42 cars show up and attempt to qualify for the NHRA U.S. Nationals. Roy's 7.90 best failed to crack the 7.83 "bump." Shortly after that, he was at Moroso Motorsports Park for its Pro Stock Challenge race. It was an eight-car show, and Hill set Low ET and Top Speed in qualifying #1 at 7.76/178.21. In the first round, his 7.87/174.75 defeated Johnny Dowey's 7.85/173. In the semifinal, he fouled away a 7.88/175.43 against Reid Whisnant, who advanced with a 7.87. He ended his national event season as the second alternate for the NHRA World Finals with a 7.85/175.78. But at that event, he was driving his new Topaz. Formerly listed 7.550/184.61 for 1984, but that was too quick to be a legal run. Was it at match race weight and inches in 1984 or legal weight in 1985? |
