Notes: Danny faced John Livingston in a best of five match race at Carlisle in March. He fouled in the first race and just plain got beat in the second. But in the third race, his 10.35 beat Livingston. Another 10.35 in the fourth race lost the match to John's 10.16. Also ran 10.40 at Baton Rouge, LA. |

He improved to 9.03/151.00 in the first round to beat Pat Musi's 9.21/147, but the car broke on the line against Carl Hobson in the semi-final. Don ran 8.98 at Great Meadows, NJ, 5/29/76. He qualified #6 at Suffolk Raceway for the Little Guy National Open in November with an 8.88/150.50. In the first round, he fouled and shut down to 9.59/105.38 in a loss to Pat Musi's 8.72/151. |

Notes: Racing in Division One in "77-'78 was not exactly the best place to be when learning the ropes in Pro Stock. But that's just where Don Campanello found himself. The competition was really fierce between Larry Lombardo and the "Team Jenkins" car and Frank Iaconio. Those two won the bulk of the races. But maybe having such tuff competition also brings you along quicker as you have to compete or drop out. So Don worked hard to get competitive.'77 was not one of his best years in racing, but it was a learning experience. Don was at Englishtown on May 1 for the NHRA Division One Opener. He qualified #5 in the eight-car field, but then it rained, and the race was postponed until the following week(May 8). He qualified #12 at NHRA Englishtown at 8.890 (no speed). Lost round one to Frank Iaconio, 8.71/155 to 8.93/152.80. Entered but did not race at NHRA Indianapolis IN 9/77. |
