Notes: Memory tells me this was a Don Hardy car. We need to confirm. | Mills failed to qualify at Pomona for the NHRA Winternationals. In April, he was at Baton Rouge for the NHRA Division 4 race. He reached the finals, but his 9.23/145.63 finished runner-up to Larry Huff's 9.00/150. |

Notes: AHRA Champion. | Dondero was at Tucson for the AHRA Winternationals where he qualified #5 with an 8.99. A first-round 8.97/150.75 beat Danny Leavitt's 9.38. In the second round, his 9.10/151.26 was no match for eventual winner Larry Lombardo's 8.84/153. Ken qualified #9 at Pomona for the NHRA Winternationals at 8.866/153.84, but he lost to Don Nicholson in the first round, 8.90/155 to a shut off 9.57/119. The "Gapp and Roush" team had one of their better outings of 1977 at the NHRA Gatornationals. Ken qualified #8 at 8.90/152.28, and then best Lee Edwards in round one. He then advanced into the semifinals after Bob Glidden broke in round two. But in the semis, the Pinto could only produce a 9.11 that lost to Wally Booth's 8.98. That was Ken's last NHRA national event of the year. He ran 8.88 at AHRA St. Louis. |

Notes: Hill started the '79 season at Tucson for the AHRA Winternationals. He lasted until the semifinals before fouling against Kevin Rotty. Roy qualified on the "bump" at Pomona for the NHRA Winternationals with an 8.80/156.79. In the first round, his 8.82/155.17 advanced when Tom Chelbana's Starfire broke. Ronnie Sox's Omni broke in round two, and Roy moved into the semifinals with an 8.80. Unfortunately, his Arrow broke in just off the line in his semifinal race with Joe Satmary. He failed to qualify at Gainesville for the NHRA Gatornationalsand at Columbus for the NHRA pringnationals where his 8.88 best was only good enough for the third alternate. Roy failed to qualify at Indy for the NHRA US Nationals. He blew an engine so badly during qualifying that the rods coming out of the engine actually damaged the frame. His 8.89/154.10 best was good for the sixth alternate. |

Notes: The team started the NHRA season at Gainesville but was the first alternate at 8.74/154.37. Sonny was at Baton Rouge in April for the NHRA Cajun Nationals. He qualified #7 in the eight-car field with an 8.588 (no speed reported). That was impressive as he out-qualified Bill Jenkins and non-qualifiers "Dyno Don" Nicholson and Joe Satmary. Unfortunately, his ailing 9.49/103.32 in the opening round lost to Kevin Rotty's 8.54/158. On May 18, he was at Amarillo for the NHRA Division Four race. He reached the final, where his 8.95/152.67 finished runner-up to Lee Shepherd's 8.83/155. At Columbus, for the NHRA Springnationals, his 8.83/155.17 qualified #14. In the first round, his 8.70/154.37 lost to Ronnie Sox's 8.75/155.44 holeshot (need to confirm that we don't have those times swapped - that's what the NHRA sheets say). Car was former Sox & Martin machine. That was the team's last NHRA national event of the year. |
