Notes: Bob qualified #14 at Columbus (times unknown but slower than 8.99. He ran 9.09/148.76 in a round one loss to Frank Iaconio at 8.77/155. Bob was at Englishtown for the NHRA Summernationals, where his 9.02 (unknown speed) qualified on the "bump" for the sixteen-car field. He lost to Ronnie Manchester in the opening round of eliminations, 8.80/155 to 8.99/153.32. That was Bob's last NHRA national event of the year. |

Notes: Lamar was at Desoto on April 11 for the NHRA Division Two race. He qualified #2 with a 9.04/150.75. While that sounded great, the problem was, Wally Booth qualified #1 with an 8.75/155. These two would make their way into the final, where it wasn't much of a contest. Lamar tried hard, but his 9.10/150.75 was no match for the AMC's 8.77/154. |

Notes: John was at Columbus for the NHRA Springnationals where he qualified #13 with a 9.105/150.25. Unfortunately, he hurt some parts and was unable to run in eliminations. John was the first alternate at Englishtown at 9.038/152.28, but he did make the first round as an alternate. He fouled against Larry Lombardo, who won 8.74/154 to John's 9.122/151.00. Notes: On May 4, Sam was at National Trail for the NHRA Division 3 race. He ran a first-round 9.11/146.34 to beat Stacy Shields' 9.39/146, but a 9.15 in the semifinal lost to the race's eventual winner Bobby Yowell, at 9.00. In June, he was back at National Trail for the NHRA Springnationals but failed to qualify. Shortly after, Sam was at Edgewater for the third NHRA Division Three race. His 9.03 qualified #2 in the eight-car field behind Bob Glidden's 8.86. An opening round 9.12/147.78 beat Bob Morrison, and he took out Floyd Williams in the semifinal. He faced Glidden in the final, and Bob had been running steady eight-second times. Gianino caught a bit of good luck when Glidden broke in the final, and he snatched the victory with a 9.09/149.50. Sam qualified at Indy with a 9.22. His best NHRA national event times were 9.073 at the Gators (# alternate) and 150.75 in a first-round loss at the Summernationals. |

Notes: AKA The Quiet One. Brannan's 10.26/134.93 failed to qualify for the NHRA Summernationals, being only good enough for the fourth alternate. This was his first time back in a race car in four years. A 10.18/135.74 qualified him twenty-first at the US Nationals. On October 3 at Blaney for the Dixie Finals, a final Round 10.26/134.72 beat Bill Tanner for the win. On October 18 in Atlanta, Calvin Nabors beat Brannan in the first round. At the NHRA Supernationals, a first Round 10.16 beat Dick Loehr (10.22). But he fouled against Dick Oldfield in round two. |

Notes: Oncale was at LaPlace for an eight-car show on March 15. In the opening round, his 10.40 advanced when Harold Tomlinson fouled. In the semifinals, his 10.44 lost to the eventual winner Herb McCandless' 10.24. Dennis won the NHRA Division 4 race held at Southland Dragway on May 24. Jim Hayter fouled against him in the final, and Dennis' 10.38/133.53 got the victory. He ran the best NHRA national event times at the Springnationals at Dallas. He qualified #21, between Rich Mirarcki's 10.433 and Chick DeNinno's 10.484 (the qualifying list does not show his own ET). In the first round, he lost to Dick Landy, 10.190/134.93 to 10.600/130.81. Former Vanke car. He also ran 10.38 at Houma. |

Notes: Roy Hill started his '81 season at Tucson for the AHRA Winternationals in January. He qualified #6 in the eight-car field, but an opening round 8.64 lost to Pat Musi's 8.32. At Pomona, for the NHRA Winternationals, he qualified in the dreaded #9 spot with an 8.56/159.01. In the first race, he faced low qualifier Bob Glidden, and his 8.66/157.34 fell to Glidden's 8.41/159. His next stop was at Gainesville for the NHRA Gatornationals. He qualified #11 with an 8.54/158.45. In the first round, his 8.57/158.45 lost to the eventual winner Frank Iaconio's 8.39/161. Did Roy go 8.355 at 165.59 in 1981? It's listed as match race times. Roy recorded his best NHRA legal times at the World Finals at OCIR: 8.505/159.85. |

Notes: Terry ran really well at the NHRA Winternationals, running an 8.566/157.61 to qualify #8. Unfortunately, his 8.65/157.06 lost to Bob Ingles' 8.62/158 in the first round. He went to Famoso for the Bakersfield March Meet, where they held a six-car Pro Stock show. Terry qualified #4 with an 8.68/158.45 and, in the first round, beat low qualifier Larry Johnson with an 8.70/155.97. He got the odd-lot single in the semifinals. In the final, he ran Mark Yuill, but he crossed the centerline and gave Mark the win. He was at OCIR for the NHRA Western Regional. An 8.70/157.97 qualified #3. He singled in the first round, with an 8.65/159.01 when Jim Basko could not show. But Terry fouled away an 8.88/159.85 in the semifinals against Mark Yuill's 8.60/158. He was at Fremont early in October for the NHRA Golden Gate Nationals. An 8.54/159.57 qualified #15, and in round one, his 8.60/158.17 lost to Bob Glidden's 8.37/159. Terry qualified on the "bump" for the sixteen-car field at OCIR for the NHRA World Finals with an 8.525/158.73. His 8.63/155.70 in the opening round fell to Mark Yuill's 8.48/158. |

Notes: Nicholson borrowed the Mustang II he had sold to Johnny Dowey for the NHRA Division Two Opener at DeSoto. He borrowed it back because he had wrecked his own Mustang II, and his Fairmont was set up for match racing and was not NHRA legal. It proved to be a wise move as the veteran ran 8.77 at only 141.73 in the first round, to beat Pat Williams' 9.22/147, and he made an easy solo in the semifinals as only six cars had shown for the eight-car field. In the final, he set low et with an 8.63/151.77, winning over Jim Kinnett's 8.83/153. Dyno Don ran this 77 Mustang at Indy and ran an 8.657/156.24. Confirmed by National Dragster, Nicholson family. |

Notes: Pat ran one NHRA national event in 1979, the Summernationals. He drove a Camaro there. We are assuming it was this car. He drove the Monza on the IHRA and match race trail. Pat's qualified #14 a6 8.785/156.24 and lost in round one to Lee Shepherd, 8.71/155 to 8.83/154.10. |
