Notes: Charlie was the first alternate at Gainesville at 9.035/149.75 but got into the show and lost to Dave Kanners in round one, despite improving, 8.86/154 to 8.97/150.00. At Columbus, Charlie qualified #7 at 8.950/151.00. He beat a fouling Bobby Marriott in round one with a 9.33/117. In round two, Charlie took out Roy Hill, 9.07/138.46 to 9.39/120. Charlie was unable to show against eventual winner Wally Booth in the semis. Charlie shocked the world at Indy, qualifying #3 at 8.716/149.50 and was reported to be running a big block Chevy in the Vega. Unfortunately, he fouled against Roy Hill in round one, and coasted to a disappointing 9.43/129 as Hill took the win despite breaking. Charlie also ran at least as quick as 8.89/149 in match race trim. We need his. best match race times (if they were quicker and faster than Charlie's legal times). |

Notes: Photo from the 1976 NHRA Gatornationals, Gainesville, Florida. | Rivera started his season at Tucson in January for the AHRA Winternationals, where he qualified #7 in the sixteen-car field. He ran well, lasting until the semifinals before losing to Lee Edwards' 8.94/150 with an ailing 9.69/128.02. At the Phoenix Winter Classic, he qualified #8 with a 9.09, but it lost to Larry Sengstack in round one, when he fouled(9.26/150). His next stop was at Pomona for the NHRA Winternationals. A 9.02 qualified #14, but his 9.05/152.28 lost to Wayne Gapp's 8.86/153 in the opening round. Gordie qualified #16 at 8.9966/152.80 at the Ontario World Finals. He lost in round one, to Paul Blevins, 8.90 to 9.028/152.80. |

Notes: Kevin started the year at Irwindale's Grand Premiere race. He qualified #4 in the eight-car field with an 8.93/151, and in round one, his 9.08/148 beat Jack Manchester. He lost to Mark Yuill in the semifinal. After that, he was at Tucson for the AHRA Winternationals. Rotty was unlucky there as he qualified #9, which set up a first-round meeting with the low qualifier, Lee Edwards. Rotty lost to Lee's 8.96. His next race was the Phoenix Winter Classic held at Beeline. There, he qualified #10, and in the opening round of eliminations, his 9.60/144.92 lost to Bob Glidden's 8.97/153. Kevin just made the field at Pomona for the NHRA Winternationals, where his 9.06 qualified on the "bump." He fouled against Don Nicholson in the first round. The next stop was at the Bakersfield March Meet. Rotty did well there. His opening round 9.21 stopped Jean Batteux's 9.45. In round two, his 9.10/148.02 beat Brad Yuill's 9.51, but the car broke before his semifinal race with Tom Chelbana. Ran 9.02/149.00 at NHRA D7 Fremont CA 3/76. |

Notes: Getting out of Pro Stock was a $ thing. I was able to stay 'competitive' on the West Coast for a couple of years. The car went into M/P and or B/Gas when the Lenco transmissions came out. What? $2,750 for a transmission? This was an original factory SS/B car (50 made by Dodge and Hurst) for Dick Landy! Might have made a big mistake selling it. Ya think? - Dean Tait |
