Notes: Edwards was the defending race winner of the IHRA Winternationals. He showed up at Darlington and "only" qualified #9. Surprisingly, he lost early. He also had some bad luck at Rockingham for the IHRA Pro-Am Championships. He qualified #15 for the show but then came back on a time trial and broke. He was unable to run in eliminations. His problems continued at Bristol for the IHRA Springnationals, where he blew an engine and failed to qualify. Lee was at Maryland International in August for the Mountain Motor Nationals. He was running his new Camaro, and as only seventeen cars were attempting to qualify for the sixteen-car field, he made the show easily. He lasted until the second round, where his 8.20/165.14 lost to eventual winner Warren Johnson's 7.91/167. |

Notes: Finished number 3 in IHRA 1978. | John set Low ET in qualifying #1 at Rockingham for the IHRA Pro-Am Championships in April with an 8.19/161. An opening round 8.57/160 beat Alfred Williams' 8.72/156 and in round two, Pat Musi fouled against him and he advanced with an 8.67/159. But in the semifinals, he was paired against Roy Hill and Brumley fouled with an 8.68/159 while Hill ran 8.54/165 to go into the final. John was at Atlanta in May for the IHRA Dixie Nationals where he qualified #7 in the sixteen-car field, but lost early. His next stop was at Bristol for the IHRA Springnationals. He qualified in the top half of the field (#8), and in round one, he beat Sam Carroll with an 8.64. In round two John's 8.60/158.73 lost to "Dyno Don" Nicholson's 8.53/157. John was at Milan for the IHRA Northern Nationals in July where he qualified #4 with an 8.43. An opening round 9.11/159.27 beat Wayne Gapp's troubled 9.59/156 and in the semifinals, his motor blowing 8.49/159.29 advanced him to the final over Musi who fouled. Unfortunately, John was unable to repair for the final and Lee Edwards soloed for the victory. |

Notes: DeMory had a trying season. In March, he was at Darlington for the IHRA Winternationals, where he qualified #12 at 6.67/205.33. The race was postponed until May due to rain. He did not race at the IHRA Amelie Nationals, but he was at Rockingham for the IHRA Springnationals. His 6.84/202.33 qualified #12, and in round one, he fouled away a 6.91/200.66 against Jon Yoak's 6.81/206. Chuck then went back to Darlington to finish the running of the Winternationals. Unfortunately, his 6.90/200.74 in the opening round fell to eventual winner Chris Holbrook's 6.74/206. Things didn't go too well at Cordova for the IHRA Summernationals, where he was the second alternate for the program with a 6.94/201.34. He qualified on the "bump" at New York for the IHRA Empire Nationals with a 6.89/200.53. That set up a first-round meeting with low qualifier Holbrook. Chuck knew he had to get a good light to have a chance, and he ended up fouling. His 6.87/201.25 would have been hard-pressed to beat Chris' 6.70/207. He was back among the non-qualifiers at the IHRA Northern Nationals, where he was the third alternate at 7.02/197.45. He also failed to qualify at Norwalk at the end of August for the IHRA World Nationals. There he was, the fourth alternate at 6.95/197.19. He was outside looking in at Rockingham as well, where he was the fourth alternate for the IHRA Autumn Nationals with a 6.88/198.32. He did not go to Maryland International for the IHRA President's Cup Championships, but he returned to the schedule at Shreveport for the IHRA World Finals. Unfortunately, he was the fifth alternate with a 7.00/196.67 best. Notes: Jenkins was running hard for the GM camp in IHRA competition. He started the year at Bradenton for the IHRA Winternationals, where his 6.78/203.25 qualified #9. In the opening round, his quick-leaving 6.87/200.98 beat Ron Miller's 6.86/201. Unfortunately, he lost to Jerry Yeoman in round two. IHRA's second race of the season was the Southern Nationals held at Darlington early in May. David's strong 6.73/204.05 qualified #3. But in the first round, he was late off the line, and his 6.79/204.98 lost to Tom Lee's 6.83/204. He also ran well at Cordova for the IHRA Summernationals. There, a 6.83/201.55 qualified #4. In the opening round of eliminations, his 6.90/201.22 beat Tim Nabors' 6.97/198. In the second round, Yeoman had problems and shut down to 8.97 while Jenkins advanced with a 6.89/200.83. Another 6.90 at 200.08 fell to Floyd Cheek's 6.86/203 in the semifinal. He was disappointed at the IHRA Empire Nationals, where he was the third alternate with a 6.92/181.91. Shortly after that, he was at Maryland International for the Mountain Motor Nationals. It was an eight-car show, and he failed to get in as his 6.94/196.82 was the first alternate. He also failed to qualify for the IHRA Northern Nationals, where David's 6.82/202.82 was the second alternate for the show. Things didn't go any better at Norwalk at the end of August for the IHRA World Nationals. There he was the sixth alternate at 6.83/201.74. After running so well earlier in the season, these non-qualifiers must have been tough, but the competition was intense. He went to Epping with high hopes for the IHRA North American Nationals but failed to make the field again. His 6.81/203.19 was the fifth alternate. The trend continued at the IHRA President's Cup Championships, where Jenkins' 6.79/201.91 was the sixth alternate. He ended his season as the first alternate for the IHRA World Finals held at Shreveport with a 6.83/201.91. |

Notes: Dave was in New England for an eight-car unlimited Pro Stock race in June. He set Low ET while qualifying #1 with an 8.68 at 153. In the opening round of eliminations, Scott Shafiroff fouled against him, and his 8.71/149 advanced. A semifinal 8.76/153 beat Ken Dondero's 8.77/154. He went up against Joe Satmary in the final, and the AMC campaigner ran 8.76/153 for the victory over Satmary's 8.89/153. Shortly after that, he was in Milan for a six-car show. All cars there were to run three rounds. Dave's 8.75/154 defeated Gary Dyer's 9.05 in his first race. He beat Wayne Gapp's 8.87 in the second race with an 8.71/153, and he went undefeated in the third round by running another 8.71 over Gapp, who lost a door off his Mustang II on the run. |

Notes: Team started the season running a Dale Eicke built 645 engine with Craig's dad, Dick serving as crew chief. Craig failed to qualify for the season opening IHRA Winternationals where his 7.10 was good for third alternate. He did manage to qualify #12 at the IHRA Springnationals with a 7.22/191.32. A good holeshot and a 7.27/191.97 beat Carlton Phillips quicker 7.24/194 in the first round, but a 7.13/195 by Rickie Smith dropped Craig's 7.21/192.59 in the second round. He again made the field at the next event, the IHRA Summernationals. There a 7.20/193.75 qualified #14. Once again, he got past the first-round when Billy Huff's Beretta came up ailing and could do no better than an 18.24. We needless to say, Craig's 7.55/189.07 advanced. In the second round, Smith seemed to have his number as a 7.05/196 by Rickie dropped Craig's 7.26/192.96. He dropped out of the qualified field at the next stop, the IHRA Empire Nationals on July 5 where an off pace 7.42/193.34 was eighth alternate. He also failed to qualify for the field at the IHRA Bluegrass Nationals at Ohio Valley. The next race he qualified at was the IHRA World Nationals at Norwalk on August 30. There a 7.17/193.96 qualified #13. Unfortunately, he was unable to run and alternate Dale Kindl took his place in the field. That was the last IHRA race he ran in '92. |
