Notes: Photo from Milan, MI, 1985. Joe was at Rockingham for the IHRA Pro-Am Championships in May. It was a tough sixteen-car show as it took a 7.62 just to qualify. Lepone lasted until the semifinals before his 7.64/185 lost to Bruce Allen's 7.49/185. |

Notes: Lee started the season off by winning the IHRA Winternationals at Bradenton. His 6.72/205.15 qualified second behind Chris Holbrook's 6.69/206. A first-round 6.84/203.66 defeated Larry O'Brien's similar 6.84/203 in a close race. In round two, he beat John Montecalvo with a 6.81/204.31. A consistent 6.80/204.45 in the semifinal beat John Konigshofer's 6.94/201. He faced the #16 qualifier in the final, Jerry Yeoman. But Yeoman had mirrored Lee's times in eliminations, so it was expected to be a close final. But Jerry had problems with his Cutlass and slowed to 7.26/146 while Tom ran 6.79/204.73 for the victory. At Darlington, in May, for the IHRA Southern Nationals, Lee didn't qualify so well. His 6.78/204.20 got him the #14 spot in the show. But in round one, he caught a good light, and his 6.83/204.57 beat David Jenkins' better 6.79/204. Ron Miller had to shut down in round two, and Tom's 6.87/203.46 advanced. His ride ended in the semifinal, where his 6.89/205.16 lost to Tim Nabors' 6.80/203. The IHRA Summernationals at Cordova was a nightmare as Lee could not get in a good run, and his 9.80-85.15 best failed to qualify. The next IHRA event was the Empire Nationals. Tom's 6.88/201.22 qualified #12. He went out early here as his 7.05/198.26 lost to Pete Berner's 6.97/197 in the opening round. Shortly after that (July 22), he was at Maryland International for the Mountain Motor Nationals. It was an eight-car field, and his 6.82/203.34 qualified #3. He showed his driving ability in the opening round, where his 6.90/202.73 beat Harold Denton's quicker 6.82/204. But he fouled in the semifinal against eventual winner Tony Gillig. The following week (August 2), he competed at the IHRA Northern Nationals. Unfortunately, a best of 6.82/204.32 (third alternate) failed to qualify for the show that had a 6.81 "bump." It was then off to Norwalk for the IHRA World Nationals; again, he could not qualify with a 6.82/203.75 (third alternate)best. Things went better at Epping in September for the IHRA North American Nationals. There a 6.75/206.29 qualified #14. In the first round, he repeated the 6.75 at 205.94 to defeat Gillig's 6.74/206. But a problemed, shut off 14.91/59.84 in round two lost to Konigshofer's 7.38/130. It was a long wait, but he was back in the winner's circle on September 27 when he won the IHRA President's Cup Championships at Maryland International. He qualified #8 with a 6.71/206.13. In the opening round, his 6.79/204.45 beat O'Brien's 6.85/204. In round two, he had a close race that saw his 6.87/202.70 beat Dwayne Rice's 6.89/202. Montecalvo fouled against him in the semifinal, and Lee's 6.80/204.70 advanced. He faced the similar Probe of Daniel Seamon in the final, and Seamon had been running quicker throughout qualifying and eliminations. But Lee pulled one out of the hat, running 6.76/204.85 for the victory over Daniel's 6.79/204 runner-up effort. Westu Racing. Notes: Tom qualified #3 at Darlington in March for the IHRA Winternationals with a 6.70/206.86. In the first round, his 6.75/206.67 beat Wally Stroupe's 6.82/205. In round two, his 6.72/207.66 lost to eventual winner Steve Spiess' 6.69/207. He failed to qualify at the IHRA Springnationals, where his troubled 7.17/195.14 was the tenth alternate. In the first week of June, he was at Grand Bend for IHRA Canadian Nationals. His 6.626/209.74 (Top Speed) qualified second to Ron Miller's similar 6.62/208. In round one, Lee's 6.64/208.47 drove around Tim Nabors' 6.79/203. Jon Yoak fouled against him in the second round, and Tom advanced with a 6.65/208.76. In the semi-final, his 6.76/207.42 lost to John Montecalvo's 6.70/206. He debuted his new Mustang at Cordova. | 3. 6.708 206.86 IHRA Darlington NC 3/10/00, 6.72 207.66 Darlington NC 3/11/00 (quarters) | 26. 7.174 IHRA Rockingham NC 4/08/00 | 2. 6.626 209.74 IHRA Grand Bend ON 6/03/00, 6.648 208.47 IHRA Great Bend 6/03/00 (Quarters) - Danny White |

Notes: At Bristol, for the IHRA Springnationals, Parris qualified on the "bump" for the sixteen-car field with an 8.37. That wasn't too bad, considering that 32 cars were attempting to qualify. In the opening round of eliminations, his 8.24 beat Harold Denton. But in round two, his 8.30 lost to Pat Musi's 8.28. He was back at Bristol in the first week of August for the IHRA Summernationals. His 8.31 qualified #6 in the sixteen-car field, and he lasted until round two before losing to eventual winner Rickie Smith. The slanted front end was legal at the time. Car was sold to Jim Ruth and became the first Party Time Pro Stocker. IHRA series regular. | 1981 handout/postcard states best in 1980 of 8.08 Sec at over 167 MPH. Finished 5th in 1980 IHRA Points. - MO | Confirmed 8.109 at IHRA Milan 7/20/80. |

Notes: Denton opened up his season running a 769 cubic inch engine in his Firebird at Darlington for IHRA's season opening Winternationals. He qualified #10 with a 6.94/200.57, but a 7.05/198.45 in the first round, lost to Floyd Cheek's 6.93/200. He went into the IHRA Dixie Nationals at Carolina Dragway as the track record holder (4.65), but couldn't crack the field's 4.62 bump. His best of 4.67/154.77 was the fourth alternate for the show. At Bristol for the IHRA Springnationals, his best of 7.12/195.69 was good for first alternate. He qualified at Alabama International for the IHRA Supernationals. Harold's 7.08/196.97 placed him in the #15 spot. Unfortunately, tire shake did him in in the first round. He shut off to an 8.65/113.73 that lost to Craig Hankinson's 7.02/199. |

Notes: Photo from the 1998 IHRA Northern Nationals, Mid-Michigan Motorplex, Stanton, Michigan. Yoak debuted the Probe mid-season after driving his T-Bird for the first half of the year. He was driving the Probe at the IHRA Empire Nationals in July where he qualified #3 with a 6.82/201.94. He ran 6.94/199.17 in round one, to beat Stuart Evans' 7.04/197 and in round two his 6.96/199.49 advanced when Ed Machacek fouled. In the semifinals, he got a good light and his 7.00/198.03 held on to win over Tony Gillig's 6.98/199. This put him into the final against Pete Berner. Pete fouled away a 6.97/195 and Yoak saw it and shut down to 7.94/128.57 for the victory. Things didn't go as well at the next IHRA race, the Northern Nationals, where Jon's best of 6.82/202.82 was good for the first alternate. The same thing happened at Norwalk for the IHRA World Nationals. There, he was second alternate with a best of 6.82/202.74. Epping was IHRA's next stop for the North American Nationals on September 13. Yoak ran 6.75/205.29 to qualify #15. Unfortunately, a first-round 6.81/205.07 lost to the race's eventual winner Evans, who ran 6.73/207. Yoak failed to qualify at the IHRA President's Cup Championships where his 6.75/204.70 was the second alternate. IHRA wrapped up its season at Shreveport for the World Finals. Jon qualified #11 with a 6.77/205.47. He improved to 6.71/206.73 in the first round, but it was not enough to beat Evans' 6.69/206. |

Notes: Listed ET was run at less than legal weight or at a match race. 1973 Photo. Wayne was at Capitol Raceway for a six-car show. He held the track record at 8.76 going into this race. The cars were run at 6.5 lbs per cubic inch. Gapp got out of shape against Ronnie Sox and shut off to 9.79/139.50 in his first race, but in his second, he ran 8.81 at a new track record speed of 157.71 (I know the number is highly suspect, but that's what was reported) to beat Herb McCandless. In his third race, the Pinto got out of shape again, and Gapp's 9.47/146.78 lost to Richie Zul's 8.99/151. Wayne ran an 8.78 best in a Maple Grove match race over Bill Jenkins. |

Notes: Chris didn't race at the IHRA Winternats, but he ran the second event of the season the IHRA Bama Nationals on April 18. On the 1/8 mile track he ran a 4.54/156.11 to qualify #13. A first-round 4.76/133.94 advanced when Billy Ewing fouled away a 4.59/156. In the second round a 4.58/155.97 fell to Charlie Garrett's 4.52/157. At the IHRA Springnationals, a 7.18/192.76 qualified on the bump and another 7.18/193.50 in the first round, fell to Doug Kirk's 7.06/197. He qualified one spot better at #15 with a 7.19/192.76 at the IHRA Empire Nationals, but he hurt parts and was unable to run. He then went to Maryland for the Mountain Motor Nationals where he qualified a great fourth with a 7.13/193.84 and before the rains came and rained out the show he ran another 7.13/193.46 to beat Rickie Smith in the first round. At Atco for the IHRA Summernationals, a 7.01/195.69 qualified #7. A first-round 7.08/195.05 beat Jim Revis, but an off pace 7.33/193.42 lost to Kirk's 7.17/197 in the second round. A 7.09/197.02 just made the field (#16) at the IHRA Northeast Nationals. Roy Hill beat him in the first round, with a 6.94/199. Chris didn't run at the IHRA Mid America Nationals at Nebraska Motorplex, and he failed to qualify at the IHRA World Nationals, where a 7.22/193.54 was good for the sixth alternate. He skipped the last three events. |
