Notes: Charlie qualified #6 at the season-opening IHRA Winternationals with a 731 ci engine running 6.99/198.28. A first-round 7.09/198.54 lost to Jerry Yeoman's 7.07/197. At the second event, the IHRA Bama Nationals, a 1/8 mile track, he used the same engine to qualify #5 with a 5.52/157.92. Another 4.52 at 158.25 beat Steve Williford (4.59/155) in the first round. Yet a third 4.52/157.86 beat Chris Hunt (4.58/155) to get him into the semifinal where a 4.53/157.97 lost to Doug Kirk's slower 4.57/157. It was on to Bristol in June for the IHRA Springnationals where a 7.04/194.46 qualified #2. A 7.19/193.79 beat Terry Walters (7.28/192), but he slept in the second round when Terry Leggett's 7.18/196 beat Garrett's quicker 7.10/194.67. At the next event, the IHRA Empire Nationals at New York, he again qualified #2 with a 7.11/196.29 and a first-round 7.18/194.93 beat Mark Thomas (7.24/191) in the second frame a 7.15/193.88 took out Williford (7.20/193). In the semifinal, Floyd Cheek's 7.20/194 beat Charlie's quicker 7.18/195.60. He then ran at MIR on July 14 for the Mountain Motor nationals and although the event was rained out they did get in qualifying and the first-round. A 7.19/192.88 qualified #7, but an off pace 8.79 lost to Ron Miller's 7.26/190.55 in the first round. July 18 saw Garrett running a 6.98/195.43 to qualify #4 at Atco for the IHRA Summernationals. A first-round 7.14/176.33 beat John Nobile (7.30/193). He lost to Floyd Cheek's 7.09/196 in the second round. All these races were run with the 731, but on July 25 he showed up at New England Dragway for the IHRA Northeast Nationals with a bigger 765 engine. A 7.03/196.29 qualified #8 and a first-round 7.01/196.72 beat Robert Patrick (7.20/193). A second round 7.12/195.77 fell to Roy Hill's 6.95/199. At the IHRA Mid-America Nationals at the Nebraska Motorplex on August 15 a 7.12/194.51 qualified #5 and a first-round 7.16/191.81 beat Carlton Phillips (7.21/190). In the second round, a 7.17/191.44 lost to Harold Denton's 7.14/193. It was on to the IHRA World Nationals on August 29. A 7.09/195.48 qualified #8, but tire shake slowed him to a 9.21 in the first round, losing to Cheek's 7.11/195. Garrett continued to qualify in the top half of the field at the next race, the IHRA North American Nationals, where a 6.96/198.19 was #6 on the grid. A first-round 6.93/199.37 beat Jim Revis (7.02/197). He made it into the semifinal before Doug Kirk's 6.95/200 beat his quicker 6.94/199.51. Back at Maryland in October for the IHRA President's Cup Championships, Garrett ran a 6.93/198.67 to qualify #6 and a career-best 6.92 at 198.36 beat Cheek (7.09/192) in the first round. Unfortunately, he fouled against Hill in round two. At the season-ending IHRA Fallnationals at Bristol on October 10, a 7.03/195.31 (#6) kept his qualifying in the top half of the field streak alive. A holeshot by Terry Leggett (7.02/195) beat his 6.99/195.77 and ended his season. |

Notes: Floyd started the season running an 806 inch Jon Kaase engine at the IHRA Winternationals by qualifying #10 with a 7.03/198.80. A first-round 7.14/196.54 lost to Robert Patrick's 6.96/197. For the second IHRA event, the 1/8 mile Bama Nationals in April, a 714 inch engine was used and a 4.53/156.68 qualified #9. He had set the track record two weeks previous at 4.51 going into this event. Once again, Patrick got him in the first round. This time Floyd's late leaving 4.58/156.27 lost to Patrick's 4.62/156. He used a different engine size/combination at the next event as well. At the IHRA Springnationals on June 6, he showed up running 786 cubic inches. A 7.11/195.43 qualified #5. A first-round 7.15/194.04 beat Craig Hankinson's 7.21/195. Tim Nabors' 7.20/195 fell to Cheek's 7.16/193.67 in the second round. A semifinal 7.23/192.76 was no match for Doug Kirk's 7.10/197. It was still a good showing and things would continue to get better for the team. On June 27, he showed up at New York International for the IHRA Empire Nationals running the same 786. A 7.14/194.59 qualified #5. A 7.26/189.27 got past Nabors' tire shaking Lumina. Tire shake slowed Billy Huff in the second round while Floyd cruised to a 7.19/193.42 win. In the semifinal, a holeshot 7.20/194.42 beat Charlie Garrett's 7.18/195. In the final, a 7.22/191.77 had to settle for runner-up to Kirk's 7.15/196. It was on to Atco for the IHRA Summernationals on July 18. Everyone was flying there and a 7.05/198.54 only qualified #12. Cheek gave Terry Leggett a driving lesson in the first round, with his 7.09/195.35 beating Terry's 7.05/195. Another 7.09 at 196.16 beat Garrett in the second round. In the semifinal, Harold Denton's 6.99/196 beat the Probe's 7.08/195.01. After running the 786 for the last three events the team went back to the 806 engine for the IHRA Northeast Nationals at Epping, New England, on July 25. Once again, everyone was putting down the numbers with Floyd's strong 7.04/198.71 only qualifying #10. An off pace 7.18/194.59 lost in the first round, to Mike Thomas' 7.05/198. It was back to the 786 for the next race at the Nebraska Motorplex for the IHRA Mid-America Nationals on August 15. Once again, Floyd qualified well with his 7.15/193.96 qualifying #6. He ran 7.17/193.79 over Jim Revis and 7.19/193.17 over Nabors before losing to Thomas again with a 7.16/193.50 to Mark's holeshot 7.17/192. A new engine combination (810) was run at the next event on August 29 for the IHRA World Nationals at Norwalk. He qualified #9 with a 7.11/195.73 and repeated that number in the first round, at 195.27 in beating a tire shaking Garrett. He slowed to a 7.17/195.10 in the second round, but it was enough to get around Kirk's 7.21/195. In the semifinal, a 7.15/195.73 beat a tire shaking Roy Hill and put him in the final against Patrick. There, despite a 7.14/196 he had to again settle for runner-up to Robert's 7.08/194. The Alvin Whaley led team stayed with the 810 engine for the IHRA North American Nationals, and they were rewarded with a 6.98/200.17 that qualified #7. Another six, a 6.99/201.88, beat Billy Huff's 7.03/199 in the first round. In the second round, a 6.98/201.47 beat Hill's quicker 6.95/201. Unfortunately, a semifinal 6.97/201.61 lost to Kirk's 6.96/200. For the last two IHRA events of the season, an 812 Kaase power plant was used. At Maryland for the President's Cup Championships, a 6.99/198.67 qualified #11. A first-round 7.09/192.10 lost to Garrett's 6.92/198. At Bristol for the season-ending Fallnationals in October, a 7.05/197.15 qualified #8. For the second race in a row, he was stopped in the first round, when John Montecalvo's 7.02/195 beat his 7.05/198.67. This team was good as attested by them qualifying at all the IHRA races, something few teams could say. He finished the season third in IHRA points. |

Notes: Mark was at the Nebraska Motorplex on August 15 for the IHRA Mid-America Nationals. His 7.16/193.63 qualified #7. His 7.18/192.67 beat a tire-shaking Jerry Yeoman in the opening round. In round two, his quick-leaving 7.16/192.02 defeated Roy Hill's better 7.14/193. He also got out on Floyd Cheek in the semifinal, and his 7.17/192.80 held on to win over Cheek's 7.16/193. He faced Billy Huff in the final, and the two had a great race that saw Huff's 7.21/194 win over Mark's 7.20/192. |

Notes: John was the first alternate at Darlington for IHRA's season-opening Winternationals with a 7.11/195.10. At IHRA's second event, the 1/8 mile Bama Nationals, his best of 4.58/154.45 was good for the fourth alternate. A 7.21/191.44 failed to qualify (fifth alternate) at Bristol for the IHRA Springnationals, and he was the first alternate with a best of 7.21/191.69 at New York for the IHRA Empire Nationals. The non-qualifying rut continued for John at the IHRA Summernationals at Atco. There, his best of 7.15/191.93 was the seventh alternate for the show. In late July, he showed up in New England for the IHRA Northeast Nationals, showing that he was not so easy to give up. He ended up as the fourth alternate with a 7.13/193.92 best. He skipped the IHRA Mid-America Nationals but was back on the IHRA trail at Norwalk for the World Nationals, where he finally broke through and qualified #13 with a 7.14/194.59. He ran an off-pace 7.41/183.71 that lost to Roy Hill's 7.18/193 in the first round. Even with the first-round loss, it was like a victory, as qualifying for these races was extremely tough. He was outside looking in at the next IHRA event, the North American Nationals, where he was the second alternate with a 7.08/196.72. He had been running a 731 cubic inch engine until that race, but at the IHRA President's Cup Championships at Maryland International in October, he debuted a 769 cubic inch motor. He qualified #10 with a 6.98/197.62 and, in the first round, ran a career-best (to this point) of 6.95/199.02 to beat Terry Leggett's 7.00/199. He fouled away a 7.11/197 in round two against Robert Patrick, who ran 6.99/198. At IHRA's season final, the Fallnationals at Bristol, John again qualified. He ran 7.06/195.90 for the #9 spot in the field. He improved to a 7.02/195.48 in the first round to beat Floyd Cheek's Probe at 7.05/198, but a 7.09/195.48 in round two lost to Patrick's 6.97/197. |

Notes: Chris didn't race at the IHRA Winternats, but he ran the second event of the season the IHRA Bama Nationals on April 18. On the 1/8 mile track he ran a 4.54/156.11 to qualify #13. A first-round 4.76/133.94 advanced when Billy Ewing fouled away a 4.59/156. In the second round a 4.58/155.97 fell to Charlie Garrett's 4.52/157. At the IHRA Springnationals, a 7.18/192.76 qualified on the bump and another 7.18/193.50 in the first round, fell to Doug Kirk's 7.06/197. He qualified one spot better at #15 with a 7.19/192.76 at the IHRA Empire Nationals, but he hurt parts and was unable to run. He then went to Maryland for the Mountain Motor Nationals where he qualified a great fourth with a 7.13/193.84 and before the rains came and rained out the show he ran another 7.13/193.46 to beat Rickie Smith in the first round. At Atco for the IHRA Summernationals, a 7.01/195.69 qualified #7. A first-round 7.08/195.05 beat Jim Revis, but an off pace 7.33/193.42 lost to Kirk's 7.17/197 in the second round. A 7.09/197.02 just made the field (#16) at the IHRA Northeast Nationals. Roy Hill beat him in the first round, with a 6.94/199. Chris didn't run at the IHRA Mid America Nationals at Nebraska Motorplex, and he failed to qualify at the IHRA World Nationals, where a 7.22/193.54 was good for the sixth alternate. He skipped the last three events. |

Notes: Smith was at Darlington for the IHRA Winternationals held in mid-March. He had run 7.16/194.21 on an early qualifying attempt but then rain postponed the race one week. He could not return as it was being held the same weekend as the NHRA Gatornationals, where he had been already committed to run. In April, he was at Huntsville Raceway for the IHRA Bama Nationals, where his 4.54/156.65 qualified #10 on the 1/8 mile track. In the opening round, his 4.58/155.65 beat Jim Revis' 4.65/155. A second-round 4.59/155.49 lost to Terry Leggett's 4.52/157. In the first week of June, he was at Bristol for the IHRA Springnationals. He had borrowed an engine from Billy Huff to run for this race. A 7.05/197.49 qualified #3. He then ran 7.14/196.97 in the first round to drop Mark Thomas' 7.19/193. He set Top Speed in round two, where his 7.05/198.23 defeated Revis' 7.17/194. He continued to make his way to the final by stopping Leggett's 7.20/195 in the semi-final with a 7.11/196.37. He faced low qualifier, Doug Kirk in the final, and Smith ran another 7.11 at 196.54, which was good enough for the victory over Kirk's 7.15/196. Smith was at Richmond in June for a four-car P/S show. All cars made two runs, with the two Low ET cars meeting in the final. Rickie ran 7.41/190.67 to qualify low. He then beat John McLain in the first round with a 7.35/189.87. In the next round, he ran 7.42/188.28 over Harold Robinson's 7.64/181. He faced Terry Walters in the final, and Smith got crossed up and shut down while Walters ran 7.46/185 for the victory. Smith then backed up, restaged, and ran 7.39/190.67. He did not run at the IHRA Empire Nationals as it was run on the same weekend as the NHRA Western Nationals, where he was competing. He did not race at any other IHRA events this season due to his busy NHRA schedule. He did make it to the Mountain Motor Nationals, held at Maryland International. His 7.27/191.73 qualified #13. He had problems in the first round and slowed to 9.53 in a loss to Chris Hunt's 7.13. Despite not competing in the full IHRA schedule, he finished fourteenth in points. |

Notes: Mike attempted to qualify at the Mountain Motor Nationals on July 14 at Maryland, but a best of 8.48/146.57 was well off the pace (7.38 bump) leaving him as seventh alternate. The only car running slower was Roy Hill at 9.68/95.79. A few days later, on July 18, things improved at Atco for the IHRA Summernationals. Although he didn't qualify, a 7.12/191.97 was fourth alternate ahead of some "big" names. Another week and things again improved as on July 25 a 7.05/197.67 qualified #11 at Epping for the IHRA Northeast Nationals. Mike lost to Tim Nabors' 6.98/199 in the first round, but he was learning fast. |

Notes: Peppers qualified #13 with a 7.06/196.63 at the IHRA Winternationals. A first-round 7.16/195.31 lost to Tim Nabors' 7.00/198. At the second IHRA event of the season, the 1/8 mile Bama Nationals, a 4.61/155.52 was good for tenth alternate. He attempted to qualify for the IHRA Fallnationals at Bristol, but a best of 7.13/194.30 was only good for second alternate. That was it for IHRA in '93. Peppers didn't race at any other IHRA races that year. |

Notes: Miller was at Bristol in June for the IHRA Springnationals. Unfortunately, he ended up as the fourth alternate with a 7.20/191.04 best. He also failed to qualify at New York International, where his 7.39/189.07 was the eighth alternate for the IHRA Empire Nationals. In July, he went to Maryland International for its Mountain Motor Nationals. A 7.22/191.69 qualified #10. Miller's 7.26/190.55 beat Charlie Garrett in the first round, but the race was rained out after the opening round of eliminations. Late in August, Ron was at Norwalk for the IHRA World Nationals. His 7.47/188.63 was the thirteenth alternate. |

Notes: Midwest Pro Stock Association & IHRA. | Darrick showed up at Darlington for IHRA's season-opening Winternationals with a 742 cubic inch engine powering his Grand Am. His best time of 7.14/191.08 ended up as the third alternate for the show. He also failed to qualify at the IHRA Bama Nationals in April. His best of 4.61/153.42 on the 1/8 mile track was good for the eleventh alternate. His next IHRA showing was at Bristol for the Springnationals. This was the first event he showed up with a new 772 cubic inch engine. It paid off as he qualified #9 with a 7.14/192.10. Another 7.14 at 195.10 in the first round, beat Jerry Yeoman's ailing Beretta. But in the second round, an off-pace 7.28/194.25 lost to Doug Kirk's 7.14/197. He qualified #13 at the IHRA Empire Nationals at New York with a 7.19/194.38. He lost to Craig Hankinson's 7.17/194 in the first round, with a 7.23/192.80. Atco hosted the IHRA Summernationals in July and Darrick qualified #15 for the show with a 7.09/195.27. He had troubles in the first round, and shut down to an 11.32 that lost to Kirk's 7.02. He was #15 again at the IHRA Northeast Nationals at New England. He ran 7.07/197.54 to get the spot. A consistent 7.08/197.84 lost to Kirk's Low ET and Top Speed of the meet run of 6.93/201.47. His qualifying spree ended at the IHRA Mid-America Nationals at the Nebraska Motorplex. There, he ended up as the first alternate with a best of 7.25/191.77. That showing was followed by another non-qualifying effort at the IHRA World Nationals where he was the second alternate running a best of 7.16/195.08. At the IHRA North American Nationals in mid-September, Darrick ran a strong 7.08/196.97, but it still wasn't enough to break into the field (first alternate). |
