Notes: Billy Huff was the 1992 IHRA World Champion. Confirm that they ran their own car this year or if Billy won in someone else's car (Haas?). | Billy started the year by being one of the four cars that qualified in the sixes at Darlington for the IHRA Winternationals, a 6.98 qualified #4. In the first round, he ran a 7.06/199.46 against Doug Kirk's 7.13/195. Doug and Billy would race one another hard for the IHRA season championship. In the second round, Huff's off pace 7.40/155.49 advanced over Tim Nabors' troubled 7.97/130. In the semifinal, he picked up the pace to a 7.00/199.20 to beat John Nobile's 7.05/197. In the final, Billy ran his best run of the day, a 6.97/195.91, to beat Rickie Smith for the title. The second IHRA event of the season was the 1/8 mile Nitrous Nationals at Huntsville. Billy qualified #3 with a 4.56/157.04 but failed to make the finals. On May 17, he ran a 7.36/191.93 to qualify #11 at the IHRA Cornplex Nitrous Nationals, where he again failed to make the final. At both events, he watched Kirk take the victories, giving Doug the lead in the points chase. At the IHRA Springnationals at Bristol, Huff gained some points back by making it into the final before losing to Smith's 7.12/195 to his right there 7.12/196.16. He got there by qualifying #2 with a 7.09/196.12. In round one, a 7.12/195.77 beat Mark Stockseth's 7.23/188. In the second round, a 7.08/196.54 (Top Speed) beat Harold Denton's 7.10/195. He watched Kirk lose in the semi's to Smith and then went out and beat Jerry Yeoman's 7.13/193 with a 7.08/195.86 in his semifinal race. He had a bad outing in Canada on June 21 for the IHRA Summernationals. He qualified well enough with a 7.04/197.88 being #3 in the field, but in the first round, the car came up ailing giving Craig Hankinson an easy (7.55/189) win. He came back strong at the next IHRA event, the Empire Nationals, on July 5. He qualified #1 with a 7.04 (Low ET) at 196.93, ran a 7.08/196.72 over a fouling Stockseth, then a 7.10/196.12 beat arch-enemy Kirk's 7.17/194 in round two. He lucked out in the semifinals when Denton slept and wasted a better 7.16/195 in a losing effort against Huff's 7.21/193.92. In the final, he won a close one running a 7.06/196.85 over Carlton Phillips' 7.07/196. He doubled up by taking the next IHRA event and the Northeast Nitrous Nationals at Epping on July 19. Once again, he qualified #1 with a 7.06/197.45. A first-round 7.09/197.19 advanced when Sherrie Kamp fouled. A 7.14/197.02 beat Terry Walters' 7.38/191 in the second round and in the semifinal a 7.12/196.54 beat Jim Revis' 7.25/192. In the final, he beat Todd Tutterow with a 7.12/197.19 to Todd's 7.21/192. Another 1/8 mile race was IHRA's next stop on their schedule. It was at Ohio Valley Raceway for the Bluegrass Nats. Billy qualified #5 with a 4.60/155.44. He ran 4.62 to beat Robert Patrick's 4.78 in the first round. A second-round 4.60/156.33 beat Kirk's quicker 4.58/156 in the second round. A slight holeshot again won him the race in the semifinal when his 4.59/155.62 beat Floyd Cheek's 4.58/155. He found himself in the final for the third straight event. Unfortunately, Revis'4.56 in the final was too much, and Huff had to settle for runner-up. At the Nebraska Motorplex on August 16 for the IHRA Mid-America Nationals, Billy's 7.16/194.46 qualified way down in the field in the #11 spot. He met Kirk in the first round, and downed him with a 7.17/194.17 to Kirk's 7.18/193. A second-round 7.22/193.96 beat Sherrie Kamp's 7.30/191. In the semifinal, a 7.15/194.59 beat Cheek's 7.18/191. All of a sudden, he was in his fourth straight final. Alas, Denton's strong 7.07/195 beat Huff's 7.26/193.92. It was now on to Norwalk for the IHRA World Nationals on August 30. Billy qualified #3 with a 7.07/198.41 (Top Speed). Facing Tutterow in the first round, he lost an engine and slowed to a 7.97/132.58, ending his day and his run of making it to the finals. He made up for it on September 13 at Epping for the IHRA North American Nationals. He qualified #1 with a 6.94/201.43, which was good for Low ET and Top Speed. A 7.02/201.07 beat Bob Simmons (7.17/193), a 7.07/200.00 beat Revis (7.03/197), and in the semifinals, a 7.05/199.95 beat Tutterow's 7.07/196. He was back in the finals and determined to win. A 6.99/200.80 beat Chris Hunt for his fourth win of the year. A fifth win came at the next IHRA event, the US Open at Darlington on September 27. He qualified #5 with a 7.01/198.93. In the first round, a 7.11/197.67 beat Joe Folgore's 7.40/186. He showed he could drive with a 7.13/187.23 holeshot win over Patrick's 7.07/197 in the second round. In the semi's, a 7.12/197.45 beat Charlie Garrett's 7.16/194. In the final, he met Kirk. It was a good race, but Huff's 7.09/196.93 prevailed over Doug's 7.15/194. At the season-ending IHRA Fallnationals at Bristol, a 7.07/198.01 (Top Speed) qualified #2. He ran 7.05/197.32 over Gary Van Vallis, 7.06/197.58 over Garrett, and 7.07/197.15 over Patrick's 7.08/197 to make it into the final against Yeoman. Huff fouled in the final, giving the win to Yeoman.

Notes: Cheek qualified #8 at the IHRA Winternationals with a 7.01, but a 7.07/195.73 by Steve Williford in the first round beat his close 7.07/195.86. At the second IHRA race of the season, the Nitrous Nationals at the 1/8 mile Huntsville track, a 4.58/155.35 qualified #5, but he failed to make it into the finals. Another good run came in the third race, the IHRA Cornplex Nitrous Nationals on May 17, where Floyd again qualified in the top half of the field with a 7.27/190.67, good for #7. Once again, he failed to make the final. At the IHRA Springnationals, he qualified #14 with a 7.23/191.65, and in the first round, a 7.18/191.85 beat Charlie Garrett's quicker 7.12/193. A 7.20/192.34 lost to Jerry Yeoman's 7.15/193 in the second round. Then came the IHRA Summernationals in Cayuga. Cheek got back into the top half of the field in qualifying #7 with a 7.09/194.13. He slowed down to a 7.24/190.71 in the first round but still beat Garrett's 7.27/196. In the second round, he won a close one with Cheek's 7.17/192.38 beating Williford's 7.17/193. In the semifinal, Rickie Smith dealt out a 7.05/197 that was too much for Floyd's 7.11/193.17. On July 5, IHRA held its Empire Nationals, and a 7.18/193.54 qualified way down in the #14 spot. A first-round 7.23/191.73 lost to Jim Revis' 7.13/192. On July 19, he qualified #13 at Epping for the IHRA Northeast Nitrous Nationals. Unfortunately, he hurt the motor and was unable to compete. He improved that finish by reaching the semifinals of the next event, the IHRA Bluegrass Nationals at Ohio Valley Raceway, another 1/8 mile track. In the semifinal, his quicker 4.58/155.92 lost to Billy Huff's 4.59/155. In August, he ran at the IHRA Mid-America Nats, where Floyd's 7.12/192.63 qualified #7. A first-round 7.21/191.08 beat David Drongowski (7.23/194), and a second-round 7.19/191.36 beat an ailing Chris Hunt (10.40). Huff got him again in the semis with a 7.15/194, beating the Probe's 7.18/191.97. Things didn't go so well at Norwalk for the IHRA World Nationals on August 30. He qualified second with an excellent 7.07/196.47, but in his first-round race, he lost an engine while running 7.17/177.47 over Terry Leggett. Cheek was unable to repair and make the second round. On September 13, he broke into the sixes at Epping for the IHRA North American Nationals, where a 6.99/198.89 qualified #6. A first-round 7.01/196.97 beat Robert McDonald (7.09/196), but a 6.99/198.98 came out on the losing end against Harold Denton's 7.02/197. At Darlington on September 27 for the IHRA US Open, a 6.94 (Low ET) at 199.60 qualified #1, and a first-round 7.11/195.73 beat Todd Tutterow (7.24/188). Unfortunately, a second round 7.12/196.37 lost to Garrett's 7.10/195. He ended the season at the IHRA Fallnationals at Bristol. The Sunoco Pro Stock Showdown was run on Sat (October 10), where the eight lowest qualifiers during the season met for the shootout. Floyd qualified well enough throughout the season to get the sixth spot in the field. A first-round 7.20/194.97 lost to eventual winner Denton's 7.10/196. For the Fallnationals race, he failed to qualify with a best of 7.23, which was good for the sixth alternate. Throughout the year, the Probe was listed with many different engine sizes. At the Huntsville track, a 798 was used; a few races later in Canada, for the Summer race, a 720 was listed on the entry sheet. At the next race, a 714 was used. By August, the motor had grown to 800 cubic inches for the Mid-America Meet. Yet in September, at Epping, the 714 was back in use. At the season-ending World Finals, where he failed to qualify, he was running an 806. All in all, the little Probe was still probably the toughest Ford on the IHRA Circuit. That would change in '93 with Robert Patrick and Roy Hill coming on board.

Notes: Doug ran hard on the IHRA trail in '92. At the season-opening Winternationals at Darlington, he qualified #13 with a 7.05/196.03. In the first round, he faced Billy Huff and lost with a 7.13/195.43 to Billy's 7.06/199. He won the next two IHRA events, the Nitrous Nationals at the 1/8 mile Huntsville track, where he qualified #2 with a 4.56/156.06 and made his way to the final where he met Gary Van Vallis and the Cornplex Nitrous Nationals where he qualified #7 with a 7.27/192.06 and in the final, his 7.24/192.71 beat a fouling Todd Tutterow. At Bristol for the IHRA Springnationals on May 31, Kirk qualified #8 with a 7.18/193.42. In the first round, a 7.16/194.26 advanced when Tutterow broke. In the second round, a 7.15/194.93 beat Jim Revis' quicker 7.11/194. In the semifinals, Rickie Smith's 7.09/195 beat Doug's 7.13/194.93. The next stop on the IHRA tour was in Canada for the Summernationals held at Cayuga on June 21. There, a 7.05/196.46 qualified Doug #5. A first-round 7.04/196.85 beat Sherrie Kamp, but in the second round, Carlton Phillips ran Low ET of the meet in beating him with a 6.99/197, stopping Kirk's 7.03/196.37. The IHRA Empire Nationals was the next race that ran on July 5. Doug used a 7.13/195.60 to qualify #8. A 7.22/185.45 advanced past the first-round when Steve Williford fouled against him. In the second round, a 7.17/194.88 lost to Huff's 7.10/196. Kirk qualified #7 with a 7.15/196.03 at the next race, the IHRA Northeast Nitrous Nationals at Epping, on July 19. He ran a first-round 7.21/195.14 over Robert McDonald's 7.20/194, but once again, he lost in the second round. This time, Harold Denton's 7.11/196 beat Doug's off pace 7.29/195.39. At Ohio Valley Raceway for the IHRA Bluegrass Nationals, another 1/8 mile race, a 4.59/155.17 qualified #4. He met Huff in the second round, and despite a quicker et of 4.58/156.16, he lost to Huff's 4.60/156. On August 16, he was at the Nebraska Motorplex for the IHRA Mid-America Nationals. He qualified #6 with a 7.12/195.31. Unfortunately, he met Huff in the first round, and lost a close 7.17/194 to Doug's 7.18/193.34. He ran well at the IHRA World Nationals, qualifying #7 with a 7.12/194.97 and running 7.17/193.09 over Kamp, a 7.16/192.14 single when Floyd Cheek broke, and another 7.16/193.00 in the semifinal over a tire shaking Jerry Yeoman. In the final, he ran Jim Revis, and Revis' 7.13/194 beat Kirk's 7.19/193.34. Up until this time, Doug had been running a relatively small 732 cubic inch motor, but back at Epping in September for the IHRA North American Nationals, he showed up with a 786. The extra cubes showed up in qualifying as a 6.95/200.75 was only second to Huff. A first-round 7.00/200.75 beat Joe Folgore's 7.23/192, and a 6.98/200.40 in the second round was good, but not good enough as Chris Hunt's 7.00/198 beat him to the finish. At the IHRA US Open at Darlington, Doug continued to run strong as a 7.02/198.76 qualified #6. He advanced past the first-round with a 7.12/193.97 when McDonald fouled, and a 7.09/196.54 got past Morris Johnson Jr's 7.16/191. In the semifinals, a 7.11/196.46 beat Jerry Yeoman's killing 15.70. In the final, he was up against Huff. Doug tried hard, but a 7.15/194.51 lost to Billy's 7.09/196. At the season-ending IHRA Fallnationals at Bristol, Doug ran a 7.11/196.50 to qualify #9. He beat Hunt in the first round, with a 7.16/196.03 and an improved 7.08/196.89 got past John Nobile's 7.22 in the second round. Yeoman ran a 7.09/195 to put Kirk's 7.15/195.56 on the trailer in the semifinals.

Notes: Jim ran well on the IHRA tour in '92, he started the season at the Winternationals where a 6.96 qualified #2. Unfortunately, he fouled away a 6.97/198.54 in the first round, against Todd Tutterow's 7.10/194. At the Nitrous Nationals held on the 1/8 mile Huntsville track, he qualified #7 with a 4.59/153.47, but he failed to make it into the finals. He qualified #1 at the Springnationals at Bristol with a Low ET of the meet 7.08/194.38. He beat Chris Hunt in the first round, but in round two a late leaving 7.11/194.80 lost to Doug Kirk's 7.15/194. A 7.03/195.99 qualified #2 at the Summernationals in Canada on June 21. Once again, he left late running a first-round 7.11/195.69 that lost to Steve Williford's 7.16/193. At the Empire Nationals, a 7.08/195.43 was good enough for #3 qualifier. He beat Floyd Cheek's 7.23/191 in the first round, with a 7.13/192.06, a second round 7.17/193.63 dropped Charlie Garrett's 7.24/196, but in the semifinals, Carlton Phillips 7.18/194 beat Jim's quicker 7.16/193.79. He continued to qualify strongly at the next event, the Northeast Nitrous Nationals at Epping. There a 7.11/194.84 qualified #4. A first-round 7.15/194.00 beat David Drongowski's 7.24/193. In the second round, a 7.21/194.34 beat an off pace Joe Folgore at 7.70. Revis slowed to a 7.25/192.80 in the semifinal; which let Billy Huff's 7.12/196 advance to the final. He took a big win at the next event, the 1/8 mile Bluegrass Nationals at Ohio Valley Raceway on July 26. He qualified #3 with a 4.58/154 and ran 4.59/155.44 over Robert McDonald, a 4.55/156.08 over Mark Stockseth and a 4.55/156.16 over Tutterow's close 4.59/155. In the final, he beat Huff with a 4.56/156.19. On August 30 he was at Norwalk for the World Nationals. Jim qualified #5 with a 7.11/194.88 and after that, there was no stopping him from another win. A 7.15/193.75 advanced over a fouling McDonald and a second round 7.14/193.96 beat Dale Kindl's 7.45/184. In the semifinal, he made up for some of his late leaves by running a 7.14/194.34 to beat Harold Denton's quicker 7.06/194. In the final, he beat Doug Kirk's 7.19/193 with a 7.13/194.42. The next IHRA event was the North American Nationals at Epping on September 13. Jim ran a strong 7.02/198.28, but everyone was running well and that time was good for #9 qualifier. He beat Robert Patrick's ailing Probe in the first round, with a 7.03/198.28 and he repeated that time in the second round with a speed of 197.93, but lost to Huff's holeshot 7.07/200. At Darlington for the US Open on September 27, another 7.03/197.41 qualified #7. He slipped to a 7.19/194.09 in the first round, that lost to Gary Van Vallis' 7.13/194. At the season-ending Fallnationals at Bristol, a 7.10/194.51 qualified #5. Jim's 7.13/194.84 beat Sherrie Kamp's 7.28 in the first round, but eventual winner Jerry Yeoman's 7.10/194 beat his 7.14/195.18 in the second round.

At IHRA's third event of the season, the Cornplex Nitrous Nationals, he qualified #1 with a 7.18 (Low ET) at 191.89, but once again failed to make it into the finals. It was on to Bristol for the IHRA Springnationals. There, a 7.15/188.91 qualified #7. A first-round 7.12/194.84 beat John Nobile's 7.19/195. He ran his quickest time of the meet, a 7.10/195.01, in the second round, but lost to Billy Huff's 7.08/196. Denton qualified #1 again at the IHRA Summernationals in Canada with a 7.00/197.06. A first-round 7.11/195.90 beat Bob Simmons' 7.26/191, but in round two a 7.02/195.99 lost to Todd Tutterow's 7.06/194. On July 5, Harold qualified #4 with a 7.08/195.69 at the IHRA Empire Nationals. He had it easy in the first two rounds winning with a 7.09/195.90 over Gary Morgan's ailing 8.10 and a 7.16/195.35 over a fouling David Drongowski. In the semifinal, a 7.16/195.05 lost to Billy Huff's 7.21/193. At the next IHRA meet, the Northeast Nitrous Nationals at Epping on July 19, a 7.07/197.49 qualified #2. Everything lined up on August 16 at the Nebraska Motorplex for the IHRA Mid-America Nationals. He qualified #1 with a 7.04/196.33, good for Low ET and Top Speed. He ran 7.07/195.86 over Bob Simmons' 7.26. A 7.08/195.99 beat Steve Williford, and a 7.09/195.69 in the semifinal beat Carlton Phillips' 7.19/193. In the final against Huff, a 7.07/195.73 took the win over Billy's 7.26/193. At the next race, the IHRA World Nationals at Norwalk, he again qualified #1 at 7.06 (Low ET) at 196.50. A first-round 7.13/194.55 advanced over a fouling Charlie Peppers, and a round two 7.08/195.77 beat Phillips' 7.13/192. He slept in the semifinals, running a 7.06/194.88 only to lose to Jim Revis' 7.14/194. They were back at Epping on September 13 for the IHRA North American Nationals. He qualified #3 with a 6.97/199.37 and a first-round 7.00/199.42 beat a fouling Drongowski. A second round 7.02/197.80 took care of Floyd Cheek's quicker 6.99/198. In the semifinal, he ran another six, a 6.99/198.89 that lost to Chris Hunt's 7.03/197. The Pro Stockers were really flying at Darlington on September 27 at the IHRA US Open. Four cars qualified in the sixes and Denton was one of them with a 6.97/199.20 for the #3 spot. In the first round, his faster 7.11/196.07 lost to Morris Johnson Jr's 7.19/193. At the season-ending IHRA Fallnationals at Bristol, he set Low ET in qualifying #1 with a 7.04/196.67. Unfortunately, a first-round 7.05/197.93 lost to Nobile's slower 7.18/193.

Notes: Yeoman qualified #7 at Darlington for IHRA's season-opening Winternationals with a 7.01. In the first round, he fell off to a 7.42/146.57 that lost to Billy Ewing's 7.11/194. At the Cornplex Nitrous Nationals, he ran 7.24/191.32 to qualify #3. Once again, he lost in the first round, this time to Chris Hunt. He qualified #6 at Bristol for the IHRA Springnationals with a 7.15/193.92. Jerry survived the first-round by beating Robert Patrick's 7.13/195 with a slight holeshot and a 7.14/193.92. In the second round, he beat another Ford driver, Floyd Cheek, with a 7.15/193.17, stopping the Probe's 7.20/192. He got beat in the semifinals, where his 7.13/193.67 lost to Billy Huff's 7.08/195. He skipped a few IHRA races until he showed up at Norwalk at the end of August for the World Nationals. There he qualified his little Beretta #11 with a 7.15/194.84. A 7.16/193.50 took care of Steve Williford's 7.20/192 in the first round, while a 7.10/194.72 took out Todd Tutterow's 7.21/190 in the second round. He had tire shake and shut down in the semifinals to 7.30/183.56 that lost to Doug Kirk's 7.16/193. He didn't go to the Epping race, but he was at Darlington on September 27 for the IHRA US Open. Yeoman qualified #2 with a 6.97/198.54. He beat Carlton Phillips' 7.14/195 in the first round, with a 7.11/195.43, and in round two, his 7.08/195.82 took out Gary Van Vallis' 7.15/194. But in the semifinals, his ailing Beretta slowed to 15.70-52.91 and lost to Kirk's 7.11/196. The IHRA season ended at Bristol for its Fallnationals in mid-October. Jerry qualified #4 with a 7.08/194.97. He went on to win the event by beating Joe Folgore in the first round, with a 7.09/195.00, a 7.10/194.93 beat Jim Revis' 7.14/195 in round two, and a 7.09/195.27 in the semifinals took care of Kirk's 7.15/195. The two Beretta's of Yeoman and Billy Huff met in the final, with Jerry running 7.10/195.55 for the victory when Billy fouled.

Notes: Charlie qualified #6 at the IHRA Winternationals with a 7.01. A first-round 7.04/197.62 advanced when Steve Schmidt broke. He fouled against Rickie Smith in the second round. At the second IHRA event, he ran a 4.54 (Low ET) at 155.49 to qualify #1, but he failed to reach the finals. He qualified well at the next IHRA event as well, when his 7.19/193.09 was #2 at the Cornplex Nitrous Nationals, but once again he failed to make it into the final. At Bristol for the IHRA Springnationals, a 7.11/195.60 qualified #3. In the first round, Floyd Cheek's 7.18/191 beat his quicker 7.12/193.59. The next IHRA event was the Summernationals on June 21 in Canada. Charlie qualified #10 with a 7.15/192.38. Unfortunately, Cheek must have had his number as in the first round, they met again with the same results, Cheek's 7.24/190 beat Garrett's 7.27/196.37. At the IHRA Empire Nationals, a 7.10/197.10 qualified #6. A first-round 7.23/193.34 advanced over Robert Patrick's ailing 8.14. A second round 7.24/196.46 lost to Jim Revis' 7.17/193. Charlie qualified way down in the #14 spot at the IHRA Northeast Nitrous Nationals at Epping with a 7.23/195.86. He ran a much better 7.06/197.88 in the first round, that lost to Carlton Phillips' slower 7.11/195. On July 26 he ran at the 1/8 mile IHRA Bluegrass Nationals. He did great at 1/8 mile tracks, qualifying #1 again with a 4.56/154.37, but he lost (round two) early. At the IHRA World Nationals at Norwalk, he lost in the first round, due to tire shake giving Phillips an easy win. He qualified #9 with a 7.13/195.05. On September 13, he was back at Epping for IHRA's North American Nationals. He broke into the sixes in qualifying #4 with a 6.98/198.80. Again, he lost early, with a first-round 7.00/198.45 losing to Todd Tutterow's 7.05/196. He did better at the next event, the IHRA US Open at Darlington. A 7.05/197.54 qualified #8. In the first round, he beat Sherrie Kamp with a 7.07/196.07. A 7.10/195.43 beat Cheek's 7.12/196 in the second round to advance to the semifinals for the first time in '92. A 7.16/194.55 lost to Billy Huff's 7.12/197. At the season-ending IHRA Fallnationals at Bristol on October 11, a 7.10/195.77 qualified #7. He beat Steve Williford's 7.19/193 in the first round, with a 7.11/196.37. Even though he ran a great 7.10/196.03 in the second round, Billy Huff put an end to his season by beating him with a 7.06/197.

Notes: Sherrie qualified #12 with a 7.04 at Darlington for the IHRA Winternationals, but she lost to Tim Nabors in the first round. At the 1/8 mile Huntsville track for IHRA's Nitrous Nationals on May 3, a 4.64/152.46 qualified #14, but once again she lost early. Another early loss came at the next IHRA event, the Cornplex Nationals, where she qualified #15 with a 7.49/180.14. A best of 7.34/189.75 left her on the outside (#11 alternate) of the field at the IHRA Springnationals. Sherrie ran better in Canada for the IHRA Summernationals, there a 7.18/194.80 qualified #12, but a first-round 7.29/186.99 lost to Doug Kirk's 7.04/196. She failed to qualify again at the next two meets, the IHRA Empire Nationals where a 7.30/192.34 was good for #3 alternate and at the IHRA Northeast Nitrous Nationals at Epping where her 7.27/192.43 was #1 alternate. She got into the field when one car was unable to run, but she fouled against Billy Huff in the first round. She jumped up in the field at the IHRA Mid-America Nationals qualifying #3 with a 7.10/194.88. A first-round 7.13/194.72 beat Todd Tutterow's 7.22/190. But in the second round, a 7.30/191.93 fell to Huff's 7.22/193. Sherrie remained strong at the IHRA World Nationals, qualifying #10 with a 7.14/195.05, but she lost to Kirk in the first round, when she shut off to a 10.98/82.50. Another strong showing came at Epping on September 13 for the IHRA North American Nationals. A 6.99/198.80 qualified #5. She advanced past the first-round with an easy 14.54 when Steve Williford fouled, but in the second round, Tutterow's 7.08/196 beat her quicker 7.06/198.01. At the IHRA US Open at Darlington, she continued with her new found form, qualifying #9 with a 7.05/196.37. Unfortunately, Charlie Garrett beat her in the first round. At the season-ending IHRA Fallnationals at Bristol, a 7.13/194.46 qualified #12, but once again she was stopped in round one. This time, a 7.13/194 by Jim Revis beat her 7.28/169.07.

Notes: Carlton ran well in '92, but the season didn't start so well at the IHRA Winternationals at Darlington. He ran a great 6.98/200.08 in time trials, but in actual qualifying, he could run no better than a 7.18 and failed to qualify. At the second IHRA event, the 1/8 mile Nitrous Nationals at Huntsville, a 4.60/155.46 qualified #10 but failed to get to the final. He qualified #5 at the third event, the IHRA Cornplex Nationals, with a 7.26/191.36, but again failed in his bid to reach the finals. At the IHRA Springnationals, he again qualified #5 this time with a 7.13/195.14, but he slept in the first round, and lost to Craig Hankinson's 7.27/191 with a better 7.24/194.67. Carlton continued to qualify well at the next event, the IHRA Summernationals held in Canada. A 7.05/196.97 qualified #4. In the first round, a 7.08/195.90 beat John Konigshofer's 7.27/191. He broke into the sixes with a second-round 6.99/197.41, beating Doug Kirk's 7.03/196. Another 6.99 (Low ET) at 197.58 beat Todd Tutterow in the semifinal. In the final, he met Rickie Smith and put him away with a 7.05/197.71 to Rickie's 7.08/197. On July 5, he ran a 7.05/196.46 to qualify #2 at the IHRA Empire Nationals. A first-round 7.08/197.06 beat Terry Leggett and a 7.16/196.03 advanced when Smith fouled. In the semifinals, a 7.18/194.59 beat Jim Revis' quicker 7.16/193. Billy Huff stopped him in the final with a 7.06/196, beating Phillips's 7.07/196.46. At the IHRA Northeast Nitrous Nationals at Epping on July 19, a 7.10/195.27 qualified #3. A holeshot aided 7.11/195.52 in the first round, beat Charlie Garrett's quicker 7.06/197 in the first round, but in round two, Tutterow ran a 7.17/192 to beat Phillips' quicker 7.13/196.07. Another good qualifier came at the next IHRA event, the 1/8 mile Bluegrass Nationals at Ohio Valley. There, a 4.58/155.46 qualified #2, but he failed to reach the late rounds.

Notes: Robert showed up at the IHRA Springnationals at Bristol and ran a 7.22 to qualify #11. It was pretty impressive considering the number of cars that failed to qualify. In the first round, he ran an even better 7.13/195.14, but lost to Jerry Yeoman's 7.14/193. He skipped the IHRA Summernationals in Canada, but was back at the next IHRA event, the Empire Nationals run on July 5. He qualified #11 with a 7.15/194.04, but lost to Charlie Garrett's 7.23/193 in the first round, with an off pace 8.14/133. He didn't race at Epping on July 19, but returned to the IHRA schedule at the Bluegrass Nationals at the 1/8 mile Ohio Valley Raceway. He qualified #12, but lost to Billy Huff's 4.62 in the first round, with a 4.78. At the next IHRA event he attended, the IHRA World Nationals, he failed to qualify when he could not get a good run in. He opened some eyes when he ran a 7.01/198.58 to qualify #8 at the IHRA North American Nationals at Epping on September 13. He lost to Jim Revis' 7.03/198 in the first round, with an ailing 15.32. He improved even more at the next IHRA event, the US Open at Darlington. A 6.99/199.33 qualified #4. He beat Tim Nabor's 7.29/203 in the first round, with a 7.08/197.32. In the second round, Billy Huff gave him a driving lesson with his 7.13/187 beating Robert's better 7.07/197.62. At the season-ending IHRA Fallnationals at Bristol, Patrick proved to everyone that he was for real. He qualified #3 with a 7.07/196.50 and beat Robert McDonald's 7.16/194 in the first round, with a 7.15/195.48. In the second round, a 7.09/195.90 beat Nabor's 7.18/193. He lost a close race in the semifinals when his 7.08/197.15 lost to Huff's 7.07/197.

Notes: Chris Hunt showed up at the third stop on the IHRA trail when he qualified #14 with a 7.41/188.67 at the Cornplex Nitrous Nationals. He lost early there. Chris went out early at the next IHRA race and the Springnationals, where he qualified #16 with a 7.24/192.10. He failed to qualify at the IHRA Summernationals and the IHRA Empire Nationals, where a best of 7.33/190.43 was good for the #5 alternate. He qualified #15 with a 7.25/191.77 at the IHRA Northeast Nitrous Nationals at Epping in July. He lost to Harold Denton in the first round. The following week (July 26), he failed to qualify at Ohio Valley for the IHRA Bluegrass Nationals. Things took a turn for the better after that, a 7.07/195.52 qualified #2 at the IHRA Mid-America Nationals. A first-round 7.12/194.97 beat Terry Housley's 7.25/189. Unfortunately, the Lumina came up ailing in the second round and lost to Floyd Cheek. On August 30, he qualified #4 at the IHRA World Nationals with a 7.11/195.48, but he fouled against Dale Kindl in the first round. At Epping on September 13 for the IHRA North American Nationals, a 7.04/197.93 qualified #10. An even better 7.03/197.88 beat Carlton Phillips' 7.05/197 in the first round. Hunt's times kept dropping as in the second round, a 7.00/198.50 bested Doug Kirk's quicker 6.98/200. Chris proved that he could drive in the semifinal, running a 7.03/197.88 to beat Denton's 6.99/198. In the final, he faced Billy Huff, who ran 6.99/200 to beat him. After a runner-up finish, he did not expect to not qualify for the next race, but that's what happened when his 7.14 was only good for the #7 alternate at Darlington for the IHRA US Open on September 27. He rebounded by qualifying #8 at Bristol for the season-ending IHRA Fallnationals. Unfortunately, Kirk's 7.16/196 beat him in round one.

Notes: Steve ran the IHRA tour in '92. He ran at Darlington for the IHRA Winternationals where a 7.02 qualified #9. He ran a close race in the first round, winning with a 7.07/195.73 over Floyd Cheek's 7.07/195. In the second round, he fouled away a 7.10/197.49 against John Nobile. He didn't race at the second IHRA race, but was at the third event, the Cornplex Nitrous Nationals. A 7.27/198.85 qualified #8. He failed to reach the finals. He failed to qualify at Bristol for the IHRA Springnationals. A 7.21/194.97 qualified #15 at the IHRA Summernationals and a first-round 7.16/193.09 beat Jim Revis' quicker 7.11/195. In round two, Steve had another close race with Cheek, only this time Cheek's 7.17/192 came out on top beating Williford's right there 7.17/193.05. At the next IHRA race, the Empire Nationals on July 5, Steve started to show the top end speed the car was soon to be known for. A 7.14/199.20 (Top Speed) qualified #9. He faced Doug Kirk in the first round, and fouled away a 7.17/199.07. At the IHRA Northeast Nitrous Nationals at Epping, his speeds blew everyone away. No one else even ran 198, but Steve was running over 200 mph four times. He warmed up in qualifying running over 200 twice before coming back to qualify #5 with a 7.14/205.33. The speed was backed up for a new IHRA record. Unfortunately, in the first round, he encountered tire shake and slowed (?) to a 7.61/200.93 to lose to Joe Folgore's 7.31/191. On August 16, he ran at the Nebraska Motorplex for the IHRA Mid-America Nationals. A 7.15/193.59 qualified #8 and a first-round 7.21/190.35 beat Robert McDonald. But in the second round, Steve shut down to an 8.22/132.95 and lost to Harold Denton's 7.08/195. At Norwalk for the IHRA World Nationals on August 30, a 7.12/194.17 qualified #6, but a first-round 7.20/192.63 lost to Jerry Yeoman's 7.16/193. It was then on to Epping for the IHRA North American Nationals. Steve qualified #12 with a 7.05/195.39, but in the first round, against Sherrie Kamp, he fouled away a 7.11/197.54. He failed to qualify at Darlington for the IHRA US Open. A 7.09 was #3 alternate. At the season-ending IHRA Fallnationals at Bristol, he made the field with a 7.12/195.01, good for #10 spot. Once again he went down in the first round, when his 7.19/193.67 lost to Charlie Garrett's 7.11/196. | Was this the Lumina or the Trans Am?

Notes: Ewing qualified #10 at the IHRA Winternationals with a 7.02. A first-round 7.11/194.80 beat Jerry Yeoman (7.42/146) and a second round 7.08/195.65 beat Todd Tutterow's 7.10/193. In the semifinal, a 7.10/194.88 lost a close one to Rickie Smith's 7.09/194. At the second IHRA event of the season, the IHRA Nitrous Nationals at the 1/8 mile Huntsville Dragway, Billy again failed to make it into the finals, but he qualified #4 with a 4.58/155.35.

Notes: John ran a 7.06 to qualify #16 at the season-opening IHRA Winternationals and another 7.06/195.45 beat Jim Yates in the first round. He advanced into the semifinal when Steve Williford fouled against him in the second round. In the semis, a 7.05/197.88 lost to Billy Huff's 7.00/199. At Bristol on May 31 for the IHRA Springnationals, he qualified #10 with a 7.19/193.38. He lost to Harold Denton's 7.12/194 in the first round, with a 7.19/195.56. That was the last IHRA race he ran in '92.

Notes: Robert qualified #15 with a 4.66/150.90 at the IHRA Nitrous Nationals held on May 3 at the 1/8 mile Huntsville track. He lost to Doug Kirk in the first round. At the third IHRA event, the Cornplex Nitrous Nationals, a 7.33/189.19 qualified #10 (ahead of Billy Huff, Tim Nabors, and some other big names), but again he lost early. He failed to qualify for the IHRA Springnationals, but a 7.13/194.67 qualified #9 for the IHRA Summernationals on June 21. He shut down early to an 11.11/79.70 in the first round, losing to Todd Tutterow. He qualified well again at the next IHRA event, the Empire Nationals, when a 7.14/194.38 placed him #10 in the field. A first-round 7.31/188.12 lost to Rickie Smith's 7.19/194. On July 19, he was at Epping for the IHRA Northeast Nitrous Nationals. He qualified #10 with a 7.18/195.10 and almost got past Doug Kirk in the first round. His 7.20/194.83 lost to Kirk's 7.21/195. IHRA's next event was the Bluegrass Nationals held at the 1/8 mile Ohio Valley Race. Robert qualified #14 but once again went out in the first round. This time, Jim Revis' 4.59/155 downed his 4.66/152.36. Robert continued to qualify strongly at the next IHRA race, the Mid-America Nationals at the Nebraska Motorplex on August 16. He ran a 7.15/195.10 to qualify #9. An ailing 8.86/112.72 lost to Steve Williford's 7.21/190 in the first round. Even though he was not getting past the first-round, just qualifying for these races was tough, and he was doing a good job of it. On August 30, he qualified #12 with a 7.17/195.10 at the IHRA World Nationals, and in the first round, he fouled away a 7.20/192.55 against Revis. Everyone was flying on September 13 at Epping for the IHRA North American Nationals. Robert was too hitting a 7.05/197.45 for the #11 qualifier. Another good run of 7.09/196.76 lost to Floyd Cheek's 7.01/196 in the first round. At Darlington for the IHRA US Open, a 7.07/196.37 qualified #11, and he fouled (7.16/195.05) against Kirk in the first round. At the season-ending IHRA Fallnationals at Bristol, Robert ran a 7.13/194.13 to qualify #14. A first-round 7.16/194.21 lost to Robert Patrick's 7.15/195.

Notes: John started the IHRA season at Darlington for the Winternationals. A best of 7.06 didn't make the cut, but he was the first alternate. He didn't make any shows until June 21, when he qualified #11 at the IHRA Summernationals in Canada with a 7.15/189.95. Rickie Smith ran a 7.05/197 in the first round to beat John's 7.24/189.59. A 7.26/193.54 qualified #16 on July 19 at Epping for the IHRA Northeast Nitrous Nationals. He hurt his engine in qualifying and was replaced in the field by Sherrie Kamp. He skipped over the following few IHRA events until he arrived at Norwalk on August 30 for the World Nationals. Unfortunately, a best of 8.03/187.77 left him a long way (#12 alternate) from making the show. He did better on September 13 at Epping for the IHRA North American Nationals, but his 7.19 still fell a bit (#2 alternate) short. At Darlington on September 27, everyone was flying with the bump ending up at 7.08. John tried hard, but a 7.13 was only good for the sixth alternate. He skipped the season-ending IHRA Fallnats at Bristol.

Notes: Joe didn't run a lot of IHRA races in '92, but when he did, he ran well. He became the first non-nitrous, carbureted doorslammer to top 200 mph when he ran 204.26 at Englishtown on March 1. On July 19 he was at New England for the IHRA Northeast Nitrous Nationals. He qualified #12 with a 7.19/191.40. In the first round, a 7.31/191.69 beat a tire shaking Steve Williford at 7.61/200. In the second round Joe slowed to a 7.70/185.18 that lost to Jim Revis' 7.21/194. It wasn't until August 30 before he raced at another IHRA event, the World Nationals at Norwalk. Unfortunately, a best of 7.20/191.00 left him as #2 alternate. Joe then went to the next event, the IHRA North American Nationals on September 13 back at New England. A 7.13/192.55 qualified #15, but a first-round 7.23/192.26 was no match for Doug Kirk's 7.00/200. He then went to Darlington for the IHRA US Open on September 27. Joe ran a stout 7.07/195.86 to qualify #12. An off pace 7.40/186.45 lost to Billy Huff's 7.11/197 in the first round. At the season-ending IHRA Fallnationals at Bristol, he qualified #13 with a 7.13/194.51. Once again he stumbled in the first round, when a 7.62/160.83 lost to eventual winner Jerry Yeoman's 7.09/195.

Notes: Tim failed to qualify at the IHRA Winternationals, but at the second IHRA event of the season, the IHRA Nitrous Nationals on May 3 at the 1/8 mile Huntsville Dragway, he qualified #8 with a 4.59/160.91 (Top Speed). A 4.62/153.87 in the first round, beat Harold Denton's close 4.64/154, but in round two tire shake forced him to shut down to a 5.91/83.83 loss to Bob Simmons. He lost to low qualifier Denton in the first round, at the IHRA Cornplex Nitrous on May 17. The IHRA Springnationals at Bristol saw another non-qualifier. He ran at Epping on July 19 for the IHRA Northeast Nationals where a 7.18/195.77 qualified #11. A quicker-leaving Todd Tutterow beat him in the first round, with a 7.19/192 to Nabors' quicker 7.17/194.30. In August he was at the Nebraska Motorplex for the IHRA Mid America Nationals. He qualified #12 with a 7.16/194.13, but lost to Carlton Phillips in the first round, with an ailing 9.08/102.83. A best of 7.21/195.43 kept him out of the field on August 30 for the IHRA World Nationals at Norwalk. The time was only good for #5 alternate. Back at Darlington for the IHRA US Open on September 27, it took a 7.08 just to make the field and Tim's 7.07/202.61 qualified #13. He had the only Pro Stock that topped 200 mph and a first-round 7.29/203.16 (Top Speed) lost to Robert Patrick's 7.08/197. At the season ending IHRA Fallnationals, he again made the field with a 7.12/195.01, qualifying #11. He eased it through with an 8.46/116.56 in the first round, when Morris Johnson Jr. fouled, but Patrick's 7.09/195 beat his 7.18/193.71 in the second round.

Notes: Mark qualified on the "bump" at the IHRA Empire Nationals on July 5. He ran a 7.25/193.05 for the #16 spot in the show. Unfortunately, he fouled in the first round, running a losing 7.42/192.51. The next IHRA event he attempted to qualify at was the World Nationals at Norwalk on August 30. His best of 7.31/190.75 was good for the eighth alternate. He also failed to make the shows at the last two IHRA events of the year, at Darlington for the US Open, he was close with a 7.08 being the first alternate while at the Fallnationals at Bristol, a 7.20 was the fourth alternate.

Notes: Terry showed up at the IHRA Empire Nationals on July 5 and ran a 7.23/189.39 to qualify #15. He ran an ailing 8.45/145.72 in the first round, that lost to Carlton Phillips' 7.08/197. He skipped the next few IHRA races before returning to the IHRA tour at Norwalk on August 30 for the World Nationals. A 7.17/192.88 qualified #15 again and a first-round 7.61/190.39 lost to Floyd Cheek's engine blowing 7.17/177. He skipped over the September 27 IHRA event at Epping, but returned at Darlington for the US Open. Unfortunately, a best of 7.09 was only good for #2 alternate. Terry ran at Bristol for the season-ending IHRA Fallnationals, there he ran a best of 7.21 that failed to make the show.

Notes: Team started the season running a Dale Eicke built 645 engine with Craig's dad, Dick serving as crew chief. Craig failed to qualify for the season opening IHRA Winternationals where his 7.10 was good for third alternate. He did manage to qualify #12 at the IHRA Springnationals with a 7.22/191.32. A good holeshot and a 7.27/191.97 beat Carlton Phillips quicker 7.24/194 in the first round, but a 7.13/195 by Rickie Smith dropped Craig's 7.21/192.59 in the second round. He again made the field at the next event, the IHRA Summernationals. There a 7.20/193.75 qualified #14. Once again, he got past the first-round when Billy Huff's Beretta came up ailing and could do no better than an 18.24. We needless to say, Craig's 7.55/189.07 advanced. In the second round, Smith seemed to have his number as a 7.05/196 by Rickie dropped Craig's 7.26/192.96. He dropped out of the qualified field at the next stop, the IHRA Empire Nationals on July 5 where an off pace 7.42/193.34 was eighth alternate. He also failed to qualify for the field at the IHRA Bluegrass Nationals at Ohio Valley. The next race he qualified at was the IHRA World Nationals at Norwalk on August 30. There a 7.17/193.96 qualified #13. Unfortunately, he was unable to run and alternate Dale Kindl took his place in the field. That was the last IHRA race he ran in '92.

Notes: David made his first IHRA race at the IHRA Empire Nationals on July 5 at New York. He ran a 7.16/193.59 to qualify #12. In the first round, he ran a 7.19/193.00 to beat Todd Tutterow's 7.34/184.53, but he fouled against Harold Denton in the second round. At Epping on July 19 for the IHRA Northeast Nitrous Nationals, he ran a 7.21/194.63 to qualify #13. A first-round 7.24/193.88 lost to Jim Revis' 7.15/194. At the next IHRA event, the 1/8 mile Bluegrass Nationals, he qualified #16 with a 4.67/153.63, but lost early. Just making these fields was tough and David did so regularly. On August 16, he ran 7.15/194.59 to qualify #10 at the IHRA Mid-America Nationals. He lost with a 7.23/194.17 to Floyd Cheek's 7.21/191 in the first round. His qualifying streak was broken on August 30 at the IHRA World Nationals when David ran a best of 7.21/193.84 that was only good for #3 alternate. Back at Epping in September for the IHRA North American Nationals, he was back in qualifying form, running a 7.13/195.60 that was good for #14 on the grid. Unfortunately, he fouled in the first round, running a 7.19/195. His competition, Harold Denton laid down a 7.00/199, so it's easy to see why David pushed the tree. At Darlington for the IHRA US Open, a best of 7.12 failed to make the field. He ended his IHRA season at Bristol for the Fallnationals where his 7.16 once again failed to qualify (#3 alternate).

Notes: Terry started the '92 season at Darlington for the IHRA Winternationals where a 7.14 best failed to qualify. At the second IHRA event, the Nitrous Nationals at the 1/8 mile Huntsville track, a 4.60/159.82 qualified #11, but he lost early. He lost early again at the next stop on the IHRA tour, the Cornplex Nitrous Nationals where he qualified #12 with a 7.38/188.48. Terry failed to qualify for the next three IHRA events, the Springnationals, the Summernationals, and the Empire Nationals where a 7.25/191.40 best was good for #1 alternate. He improved to a 7.16/193.21 to qualify #8 at the IHRA Northeast Nitrous Nationals at Epping and in the first round, a 7.22/192.06 beat Gary Van Vallis. An off pace 7.38/191.89 lost to Billy Huff's 7.14/197 in round two. He skipped the next few IHRA events before returning at the IHRA North American Nationals at Epping. A 7.27 failed to make the field. Another non-qualifier came at Darlington for the IHRA US Open where a 7.18 best was good for #9 alternate.
