Notes: Sam was formerly listed at 5.309 in this car in 1975. Car went 4.79/290.32 at Union Grove Fall Nationals in 1975. It was not Vern Anderson at the wheel, as he was driving the American Dream car at that race. We need to confirm it was Sammy. |

Notes: The 3.58/386 was the all time quickest run ever recorded on a drag strip. Photo from Santa Pod on 7th August 1984, from the grandstand, looking down on to the 'Fire-up' road. I took the shot - I think - just before Sammy's record-breaking run. - Benito |

Notes: Sammy Miller's last on-track appearance was at the Speedfreaks Ball at Santa Pod Raceway in May 2002. Following a low five-second pass Sammy put Vanishing Point into the field, as he had done previously when stopping became an issue. Ever the showman, he worked overnight to make sure he could run again on the Sunday. - UK Drag Racing Hall of Fame | Sammy ran at this one event before being killed in a work related accident in the Texas oil fields. |

Notes: Paula had driven Tony Fox's Pollution Packer car at the Winternationals and Bonneville, which gave her the bug to build her own rocket. Don Tuttle built this chassis with a Ky Michaelson engine. On her first full pass in the car at Sears Point Raceway in Sonoma, the fuel did not shut off. The parachutes failed and the car hit the end of the strip and went airborne. Paula suffered a broken neck and was out of commission for three years. She returned to race around the world with Johnny Parsons in 1976 in two different Pontiac race cars. Paula went on to race a B/Modified Datsun, but never got it sorted out. She then raced a Z/Stock Honda Civic with factory backing that was undoubtedly one of the first front wheel cars to race on a drag strip. - Paula and Dan Murphy, Racin & Rockin Radio Show, March 28, 2011 |

Notes: Paula drove the Tony Fox Pollution Packer at the Winternationals and Bonneville. She crashed the Ky Michaelson prepared car on its first pass at Sears point when both fuel shut-off systems failed, and the parachute then ripped off from its attachment point, fracturing her neck. After a lengthy recovery, she resumed racing on a global basis. | I modified the rocket chamber out of the X-1 Rislone rocket car designed by J.C. McCormick. I made an all-new fuel and pressure system, larger tank, increased the fuel flow, etc. We increased the thrust from 2500 lbs. To 3000 lbs. I installed the propulsion system in my Top Gas Dragster. The Tony Fox team sponsored the car. - Ky Michaelson |
