Notes: Won Division 7 four times, 72-76. The 5.88 was low qualifier at the 74 World Finals. Also 5.94, 241.93 low qualifier at 74 Winters. | Started the season on Jan 12 for the Irwindale Grand Premiere. There was no qualifying as starting positions were drawn from a hat. All eight cars were members of the Cragar five second club. Unfortunately, James shut down early in his first round race with an 8.48 losing to John Stewart's wheelstanding 7.62. He then went to Pomona and qualified first as mentioned above. A first round 6.01-230.17 beat Jim Murphy's off-pace 7.05, but Jerry Ruth's 6.27-202 beat his 6.43-162 in the second round. The team loaded up and went to Famoso for the Bakersfield March Meet. Warren qualified #11 but failed to make it into the finals. On March 17 at the AHRA Northern Nationals at Fremont, a 6.38 qualified #3. A first round 6.18-230.27 beat Frank Bradley. In the second round, a 6.26 beat Dwight Salisbury's 6.34. In the semis, they lost a motor at half-track, leaving Dennis Baca a 6.21-234 winner. On April 6 at the OCIR AHRA Grand American race, James set low et of the meet in qualifying with a 6.06. That was pretty good considering there were 42 cars going for 16 spots. He ran 6.22 and 6.14 in the first two rounds before exploding a supercharger in the semi-final against Dan Richins. He still advanced because Dan fouled. In the final, a 6.35-223.88 was a bit short of Don Garlits' 6.24-239.36.rn

Notes: Ewing did the tin. 392 Chrysler by Pink. Guedel was involved in the TV industry as a director, producer of some sort. The car was beautiful in that as noted Ewing built a full nose and tail piece for the car. The car was run until the end of 1968, when it was replaced by the 69 version. Car took part in the then famous Hollywood Lane Parade of 1968. Car was pushed the length of the course with driver suited up and nice looking female seated atop the engine, waving at the crowd. I saw it live on TV way back then.

Notes: Bill qualified #7 with a 7.97-189.86 at Pomona on Jan 9 for the Jackpot Pro Curcuit Fuel race. He beat Don Prudhomme in the first round before losing to Tommy Allen in the semi-finals. Another Pro Circuit Fuel race was run at Pomona on Jan 23. Once again he qualified with a 7.97, but this time it was only good enough for #14 spot. He lost early. At Lions on Feb 26 for the UDRA Winternationals, a 7.90 just made the show in the 32 spot. Once again he lost early. Bill qualified #5 at a sixteen car show at Lions with a 7.86 on May 14. In the first round, he improved to a 7.80-196.92 and he ran an even better 7.77-188.28 in the second round but lost to Ken Safford. He was back at Lions on May 28 for another sixteen car show and a first round 7.82-200.00 beat Rick Stewart but Leavitt's motor blew and Stewart got back in under the "break rule."

Notes: The team debuted a new Don Long car at OCIR on 2-11-68, running a 7.17 at only 190.26 in the unpainted car. On Sept 8 at Minneapolis, Vern set top speed at NHRA's Division five race with a 7.17-219.50 loss in the semi-finals to Leroy Goldstein. Notes: Also ran 6.21, 229.00 in winning the Tulsa PRO National Challenge (low ET and top speed). Confirmed 232.55 at Ontario 72. Speed on the 5.91 was 231.95. Set record at 6.13 at Lions on 12-72 (records were not allowed to be set at Ontario Supernationals). Also 6.14 at OCIR WCS race and 6.00 at Supernationals. Ontario 5.91 was the 2nd entry into the Cragar Five-Second Club. 6.65 Pomona, 6.33 Tulsa, 5.91 Ontario.
