Notes: John qualified #3 at Pomona at 6.174/236.22. He beat John Force in round one, 6.137/223.32 to 6.48/205. Ron Colson crossed the centerline in round two, advancing John's 6.819/149.00. Raymond Beadle got a holeshot in the semis and held on to win, 6.278/232.55 to 6.275/233.16. John suffered a fire in qualifying at Baton Rouge and ended up the fourth alternate. He returned to the NHRA tour at the Ontario World Finals, where he qualified #13 at 6.461/219.51. In round one, he lost to Gordie Bonin, 6.54/227 to 7.19/185.95. |
