Notes: Grangruth started with former Horchar Bros. Bantam and ran A/FA with BBC. Later built this unique car which featured the driver seat off set to the left. When the car was finished, the injected nitro class was dumped, forcing Grangruth to run blown gas. |

Notes: Car was owned by former dry lakes racer Jim Miles. Miles was responsible for approaching So-Cal promoters and promoting the altereds as a lucrative feature as an alternative or supplement to the weekly top fuel shows. Car was orginally powered by blown fuel 327, and continued in use until 1969, where it was powered by 392. Car ran mid 7's at 195 and won its share of races. - BD | Photo shows car in later early-hemi guise, not the smallblock Chevy it utilized this year. - RT |

Notes: Basic car debuted in 1964 as a blown fuel altered Fiat. The chassis and motor were retained for years, with year to year refinements being made. Fiberglass Bantam replaced all steel Fiat. car ran 7.60s at near 200. Car was competitive, but got little recognition. |

Notes: Car featured injected 354 Chrysler with antiquated Hillborns. Car ran against blown cars as blown and injected nitro burners weren't separated at the time. car won at least one open altered event, beating out several blown cars. The car was sold in early 1969, and resurfaced with Chevy power under the team of Cox, Ford. Also I noted absence of an injected B/FA owned by Arizona racer Ty Pollack. Car featured the same look at Pure Hell, but was powered by bored, stroked injected 327. Beautiful show car that ran high 8's. Pollack took so long to build the car, that when it was finished, the NHRA had eliminated the class, leaving him to race only AHRA tracks. |

Notes: The last of Bovan's cars. Car ran occasionally from 70 to 72. Steve did drive for others from 1973 to 1976. Best of everything in the car resulted in decent times (low 7s and 200 plus). Bovan fell on bad times with a bad group of people in the late 70s, which resulted in his demise. |

Notes: This was the car that ended Gas Rondas career at Beeline in 1970. Beautiful Molly paint scheme adorned the car. Ran low 7's on a really good day. The car was extensively modified in 1972 by moving the driver forward, the engine back and plopping a Vega panel truck body to create the famed California Stud rear-engine funny car. |

Notes: I think that the Mustang being referenced here belonged to Stone, Woods and Cook, not Mickey Thompson. Mickey Thompson ran a Vega and a Pinto about this time. Van Sant was hired driver for SWC Mach I. It was the last in the series of SWC machines. Van Sant bought the car in 73 and reknewed his own racing efforts with the car re-named the Invader. He basically ran this car for years, replacing bodies as new styles surfaced. |

Notes: Car debuted in 64 as a blown gas Fiat altered with chassis built by Barker himself. In 66, the Fiat shell was replaced with a Mustang shell and car began running as a flopper in local shows. Initially ran direct drive for Chrisman like launches. Blown 427 Wedge eventually ran mid 8's at 170 plus. Car won Comp Eliminator at 67 HRM Championships. Car was sold to Aussie racer in late 68, but he ran it with 392. |

Notes: AKA Beaver Shot. Car was originally owned by a Texan when Bizio bought it. Car was one of the few, NHRA legal, classic bodied gassers that could win in open So-Cal shows on weekly basis. He ran the car until mid 1970 when he sold it sans motor to another guy who renamed it the Mind Bender, painted it root beer brown, and plopped in a blown BBC. Bizio had a tentative sponsor deal to allow him to enter the Funny Car ranks, but it fell through and Bizio never raced again. Ron eventually succumbed to liver disease a few years later. |

Notes: 9.70-9.60's at 140. Got Runner-Up in Super Eliminator at 70 Winternationals. Car was rare in that it relied on a manual 4 speed with a blown motor. A testament to Dondero's skill. |

Notes: Car was orginally raced by Gene Conway under the C&O banner until 1966, when he sold it to Vern Hicks. Hicks re-dubbed it the Agitator, and had Gene Modlin drive it. The car was sold to Paul Day of Ohio in mid-1968 who ran a blown small-block Chevy and raced BB/GS. The car won its class at Indy (1969) and shortly thereafter was destroyed in a track accident. Day replaced it with a 33 Willys. - BD |
