Notes: Beaver shot. Car was originally owned by a Texan when Bizio bought it. Car was one of the few, NHRA legal, classic bodied gassers that could win in open So-Cal shows on weekly basis. He ran the car until mid 1970 when he sold it sans motor to a another guy who renamned it the Mind Bender, painted it root beer brown and plopped in a blown BBC. Bizio had a tentative sponsor deal to allow him to enter the FC ranks, but it fell through and Bizio never raced again. Ron eventually succumbed to liver disease a few years later. |

Notes: Blown roadsters of this ilk surfaced in response to the very liberal rules being allowed by local So-Cal promoters wherein cars were being built with little regard to NHRA rules. A sort of compromise in that liberal engine set back, and light weight similar to the more radical bodied cars (think Mike Mitchell/John Lombardo Corvettes) yet retaining traditional body style. Cars were like an altered, and performed no better than the others. On occasion these roadsters qualified for a few open fuel altered shows when car turnout was light or weather conditions negated the advantages of a blown fuel motor, read no traction. They pretty much ceased to exist by the end of 1970. Densham's car ran 8.60s at 160 plus on a good day. This explanation and recorded performance pretty much holds true for all the roadsters of that era. |

Notes: Beautiful car. Paul Sorrell body. Owner and part driver, Greenmayer was an SR71 test pilot and air plane racer, whose P-51 was sponsored by Smirnoff. Zeuschel built the engines. His encounter may have lead to his ultimate abandonment of V8 motors and interest in Allisons. In any event, Dixon first drove, then Greenmayer eventually settled in. The car won a few races. Greenmayer still owns the car as it sits in a warehouse somewhere. |

Notes: 23 T Body. Last in the series of Fire Side Inn cars, it was in essence a state of the art top fueler with a shell, unlike its fellow modified roadsters which had become a haven for outdated top fulers equipped with comp roadster style bodies. Fire Side Inn was in fact an up scale steak house located out in the valley of Los Angeles. It was the haunt of many TV and movie stars. Today the National Enquier would be lurking outside its doors looking for gossip. Its owner( his name escapes me at the moment) originally sponsored a series of exotic sports cars designed to run the dry lakes, all under the name of the restaurant. |

Notes: 9.70-9.60's at 140. Got R/U in Super Eliminator at 70 Winternationals. Car was rare in that it relied on a manual 4 speed with a blown motor. A testament to Dondero's skill. |

Notes: Vette was a regular on the then gas burning injected circuit. Featured really cool flamed paint scheme. Ran some 9.30's at 145 plus. Car crashed at Lions in late 1970 with driver Don Duke receiving some serious injuries. Oh, no relation! |
