Notes: Jeb Allen, at age 18, won the NHRA Summernationals in this car. This was the last Top Fuel car to cross the finish line, in competition, at Lions Dragway, a losing effort to Carl Olson in the final. Jeb ran a 6.38 and a bunch of 6.40s in that effort. Runner up to Flip Schofield at IHRA Dragway 42 in August 72. Note - this was the Allen family's first RE car, Woody chassis, initially powered by a 392, but soon switched to the late model hemi. 6.35 Tri-City, 6.66 Columbus, 6.33 Englishtown, 6.33 Indy. 6.46 NHRA Amarillo |

Notes: Dwight drove Jim Busby's Beach Boys car at NHRA Dallas and Indy. At Dallas, he qualified #14 at 7.065/212.76. He had a great leave, and his opponent had a bad one in the first round, where Dwight's 7.31/204.08 beat Bub Reese's much better 7.18/212. In the second round, he fouled against Chris Karamesines. His next stop was at Marion, S.D. on June 23 for a best of three match against Mark Williams. Salisbury warmed up the "Beach Boy's" car by resetting both ends of the track record with a 7.52/205. In their first race, Dwight's 7.63/203.60 won. But Mark came back in the second race and reset the track ET record with a 7.49 at 171 to beat an out-of-shape Salisbury who shut off. The third match was a good one; Dwight caught a good light, and his 7.89/199.10 held on to win over Mark's quicker 7.80/202. Dwight ran 6.985/216.86 to qualify #22 at Indy. He beat Don Prudhomme in round one, 7.01/212.25 to 7.19/215.82. Dwight topped Marvin Schwartz in round two, 7.14/207.86 to 8.73/108. In round three, he ran 7.44/198.22 to beat Cliff Zink's 7.61/215.30. Steve Carbone ended Dwight's day in the semis, 6.75/223.32 to 7.49/189.06. Dwight did not run at the World Finals. |
