Notes: Car had a front mounted Potvin blower. A subsequent car, a Fiat with a top mounted Jimmy blower, won Middle Eliminator at the US Nationals. It was also a BB/A. The Fiat still runs as a nostalgia car in the Canadian Nostalgia series. |

Notes: Went with this car for over ten years. First aspirated car in the eights. A second car with independent suspension was built after Bill spent two years in super stock. Altered (first) won 80% of the races it competed in. Two and a half by three eighth wall tubing frame with loop roll bar and two supports in front. Logghe suicide straight tube front axle. Nine inch Ford with Big Bill built shortened axles. Seat hung from tabs on the roll bar. First engine was a 413 wedge dodge. Will's Fargo, right? Second engine, 426 wedge. Third engine, 482 wedge (1/2 inch stroker). All three used direct drive. Car ran 9.72 with half arm and held MPH record at 152.28. With Hemi and Torqueflite the car set the record at 9.05/157.65. Upset a lot of people! Reset same year, I think 1968 at Indianapolis at 9.04. Tried the new independent suspension car built with the help of a super Ford engineer. We were too far behind the curve to get back in the game, but it did win class at Indianapolis the very last time they had it. Outstanding part of my life with Bill Sr. and Jr., Bud Polhill, Harold Pim, Glen Brown and several others who were involved with the car(s). Lots of stories from this car! |

Notes: Doug bought the car from Jim Parsons. It was one of the two "High & Mighty" Street Roadsters. He lowered the chassis and reconfigured the roll bar. The drivetrain was a long rod, destroked 426 Hemi. It was 396 cubic inches. The trans was a Clutchflite. Doug went three rounds at the US Nationals. He lost to a blown oil filter on the starting line. Bad break for sure. He was an independent racer and an excellent mechanic. One of the more prominent and successful racers from the London, Ontario area, that also included Glenn Gregory, Bill Kydd, and Ralph Hope. |

Notes: "Vita C" was hand built on a homemade jig in Waite's garage. Woody Gilmore assisted with the design. The chassis was stress relieved, after fabrication. Rear end was a Ford narrowed unit. Gear sets were 4.11, 4.33, or 4.44. Trans was a three speed Lenco. Carbs were 1150 CFM Holleys. Waite's engine actually out-torqued Dyno Don's 702 HP, Cleveland Motor, during same day dyno testing. A solid, fast race car! |
