Notes: Very early photo before sign writing and paint were finished. All steel body except for glass front clip. The 327 Corvette engine was a used "drum engine" imported by Bert Jones. These used engines arrived in Australia from the USA in 55-gallon drums and in some ways were an early version of today's crate engines. Engine was stripped, hot tanked, balanced, clearanced, fitted with new rings and bearings, ran a 35/70 Bert Jones solid-lifter cam, 650-cfm Holley and a set of custom scavenger headers. The car was a daily driver for nearly two years and still registered when first taken to Castlereagh in 1970. - GS |
