Notes: Set the first sub 9 second ET record at 8.94 seconds-170 MPH. | Yeiji died November 20, 1959, at Fremont. Eugene LeBlanc (owner/builder) is my uncle (who lives in Glamis, CA). I'm still not sure about the engine configuration. He was racing as a B/F dragster (Lincoln with 8 x 2 barrels) when I was there. My oldest brother helped mix the fuel with my uncle. My other brother thought it was supercharged that day (he was at the track when Yeiji crashed). The only photo I saw shows it as B/F. Contrary to the reported, "the car disintegrated at 150 mph," my brother said the car was still intact after several flips and rolls, except the front end had come off during the crash. Yeiji had no broken bones or apparent outside injuries, but he must have suffered fatal brain damage or maybe a broken neck; the roll cage was bent to one side from a heavy hit.
