Notes: First Nebraskan to win a national championship. During 1959 and 1960, undefeated in his class, competing in Omaha, Lincoln, Sioux City, Grand Island, and Kansas City. Only class loss came at the 1959 AHRA Nationals in Great Bend, KS. At the 1969 AHRA Nationals in Kansas City, beat a blown, injected Fiat called the "Pipe Dream" that came all the way from San Diego, CA. Ross had a lower ET, but he had a much higher Top Speed because Ross ran two gears and beat him off the line. Pipe Dream bogged off the line because he ran only one gear. 1959 AHRA Nationals, Great Bend - JR |
