Notes: John qualified #2 at the AHRA Winternationals, but lost in the first round. Things were even worse at Pomona for the NHRA Winternationals where he failed to qualify. If that wasn't bad enough, he went to Famoso for the Bakersfield March Meet, and while attempting to qualify, crashed into the guardrail. The Datsun Z body flew off and the car caught fire. John was OK, but the fire totaled what was left of the car. John got the first Datsun body out of the mold, which was originally supposed to be Gary Densham's. Densham had to wait for the second one. |

Notes: Davis had quit racing in 1974 after escaping injury in a severe fire at Blaney, S.C. He and Godman reunited to compete at the 25th Annual Nationals in 1979. This was the last racing season for the Bo-Weevil guys. | Dennis Simplot says that Al Swindahl built this car for Shirley Muldowney? She never ran it. DNQ at Indy 1979 at 7.160/166.66. As noted, the team's only NHRA national event this year. |

Notes: John took out an ad in November 13, 1976, Drag News that said, "6.36 at 217 MPH isn't much to some people. To me, it's like breathing! Thank you, Randy Allison and Waterman Racing Engines! (and didn't hurt a part!)” - John Force "Brute Force" AA/FC | It's amazing Force/Plueger went to the D7 Fremont final in the orange match race Monza. - Joe Moore |
