Notes: Clayton was the 16th alternate at Pomona in this car (times unknown). At the Gators, he qualified #6 at 6.63/222.77, but he lost in the first round to a massive holeshot by Buddy Jentzen, 7.16/208.33 to 6.87/183.67. Clayton was the sixth alternate at Dallas at 6.882/206.42. He qualified on the bump at Englishtown at 6.921 (speed unknown). Al Friedman defeated him in round one, 6.89/218.97 to 8.15 (speed unknown). Clayton qualified #5 at Sanair at 6.83 but lost to Arnie Behling in round one, 6.66/220.58 to 6.82 (speed unknown).
