Notes: What a fun time the '70s were. I had a small shop in the "Texas Gasoline Alley" owned by Foster Yancey and Brad Camp who campaigned an A/Fuel Dragster and later an AA/Fuel Dragster. Other funny cars in the complex were Mike Burkhart, Charlie Therwhanger, Ben Griffin, Harry Schmidt's Blue Max with many drivers, including Richard Tharp and Raymond Beadle who ended up buying the Blue Max. There was the THT racing team of Tomlinson, Higginbotham, Topletz (pro Stock). Mart Higginbotham later joined the Burkhart camp with the "Drag-on Vega." T-Bar Chassis was also in "Texas Gasoline Alley" (Henry Schroeder)(Moose). He fixed all of our broken chassis. Dennis Piranio had an engine building shop in the complex and ran an altered. Goodyear racing tires was in our complex. Johnny Johnson ran a M/P car and Gordon (can't remember his full name) bought an AA/FC from Gene Snow and he was in our complex as well. Great Memories. it was the place to be in Texas in the '70s. I will have to try and find a photo of my old Texas Bandit to put with this. |
