Notes: Beebe was driving the "Mr. Ed" car at Pomona for the NHRA Winternationals. His 7.63/199.55 qualified #13 on the hard to get a grip Pomona track surface. An opening round 7.47 beat Leroy Goldstein's 7.69 in the "Candies and Hughes" car. In the second round, he blew the clutch, and his slowing 12.69 lost to Kenny Bernstein's 7.50 in Ray Alley's Charger. He was still behind the wheel of this car on March 18, when he ran it at Fresno Dragway for the Winter Race of Champions event. He set Low ET in qualifying #1 for the eight-car field with a 6.47. The second qualifier was way back at 6.73! An opening round 6.56/219 beat Sush Matsubara's 6.85/211. Beebe got to solo in the semifinal when Mike Van Sant lost fire in the "Stone, Woods and Cook" Mustang. Dave advanced with a 7.48/126. He went up against the second qualifier in the final, Jim Murphy. Beebe would not be denied as his 6.82/200.44 easily won over Murphy's 7.11/212. The following week (March 24), he was at OCIR for the final All-Pro race. Dave qualified #6 in the sixteen-car field with a 6.77. in the opening round, Gervase O'Neil's 7.53/133 lost to Dave's 6.96/206.42. But Beebe had problems in round two with a shut-off 9.86/69.87 that lost to eventual winner Tom McEwen's 6.96/213.

Notes: Came out with this car at the New Year's race at Fremont in 1970 (although it had debuted at OCIR on 12/14/69). Note the flower print paint job. | As mentioned, Bourgeois was at Fremont for its New Year's Day race. Only six FCs ran. In his first race, Dick ran 7.77/191.08 over Don Schumacher, who broke a rear end. He also won his second race with an 8.79/171.42 when Kip Brundage fouled in the "Parts Mart" Camaro. Dick qualified in the eight-car field at the second OCIR All-Pro race on January 18. He fouled against eventual winner Gene Conway in the first round. He was at Irwindale a week later (January 26), where he ran 7.69/184.80 in the first round to beat a tire-smoking Jim Liberman, but a second round 7.95/193.96 lost to Charlie Allen's 7.67/170. The team really opened some eyes at Pomona for the NHRA Winternationals when they qualified #1 with a 7.538/194.38. This was at a show where Leroy Goldstein, Don Schumacher, Don Prudhomme, Pat Minick, Jim Liberman, Charlie Allen, and other luminaries failed to qualify. Unfortunately, he lost to Kelly Chadwick in the first round, 7.76/193.13 to 7.85/184.80. That was Dick's last NHRA national event of the year. Lions held an eight-car show on February 14 with 30 cars trying to qualify. Bourgeois made the show but shut off against Pat Minick in the "Chi-Town Hustler" in the first round. The next day Dick was running at Fremont for the Northern Nationals. A first-round 7.42/196.06 lost to Jake Johnston's 7.32 in the "Blue Max."

Notes: Bryant was at Tucson for the AHRA Winternationals. He lasted until the semifinals before his 9.12/151.26 lost to eventual winner Don Nicholson's 9.07/150. At Pomona for the NHRA Winternationals, his 8.73/155.70 qualified #7. An opening round 8.67/155.17 beat Lee Hunter's 8.88/153, and an 8.68/156.25 advanced when Lee Shepherd broke. In the semifinals, Roy Hill's Arrow broke, and Bryant's 8.64/157.06 advanced. He faced another Arrow in the final. This one was Bob Glidden's. As well as Sonny had been running, there was no stopping Glidden this day as he was running 8.4's. Sure enough, Bob's final round 8.49 got the victory over Bryant's 8.71. At the NHRA Gatornationals, Sonny qualified #5 with an 8.65/158.17. A first-round 8.67/156.52 beat Billy Wash, but in round two, he fouled away an 8.73/156.52 against Glidden, who ran 8.55/149.

In the second round, his off-pace 9.51 lost to Kevin Rotty's 9.10. Won Division 7 in 1976 or finished 5th? Notes: Lou qualified #1 at Tucson for the AHRA Winternationals with a 7.57/191. He set Low ET in the first round, with a 7.52, but in the semifinals, he got out of shape against Jack Wyatt and almost hit the guardrail. At Pomona for the NHRA Winternationals on February first, Lou's 6.86/205.94 qualified #13. He beat Ken Veney's new Corvette in the first round, with a 6.64/205.94, but then lost in round two. The Bakersfield March Meet was held in February and once again Gasparelli qualified well, running 6.96/203.61 for the #2 spot in the eight-car field. He made his way to the finals by beating Richard Day with a 7.24/198.23 and Ray Higley in the semifinals with a 7.01/200.89. He faced Jimmy Scott in the finals and smoked the tires and shut off, giving Scott the victory. At the NHRA Division 6 Opener at Fremont, Lou's best of 6.86 was good for the first alternate in the eight-car show.

Notes: This car was driven by top fuel driver Steve Carbone at the Division 4 WCS event at Albuquerque the weekend of August 11/12/1973. | Huff was runner-up to Butch Leal at the second OCIR All-Pro race. His final round 9.55/144.23 lost to Leal's 9.36/147. At Beeline for the AHRA Winternationals, he qualified #13 in the sixteen-car field with a 9.63/142.63. He lost to Dick Landy in the first round. At Pomona for the NHRA Winternationals, his 9.80/142.85 qualified #18 in the 32 car show. He lost early in eliminations. Larry qualified #3 with a 9.58 at Famoso for the Bakersfield March Meet. He worked his way to the final of the eight-car show, stopping a tough Bill Bagshaw in the semifinals. In the final, he ran Bob Lambeck and his 9.47 took the victory over Bob's 9.60. A week later (March 11), he was at Fremont for the AHRA Northern Nationals. He qualified #2 with a 9.37/145.86. Once again, he worked his way to the final, running a strong 9.26/147.28 in round two while beating Sonny Bryant's 9.38/144. In the semifinal, a 9.28 beat Larry Breaux's 9.35. In the final, he faced low qualifier Landy, who had set Low ET in round two with a 9.07. Huff tried hard in the final, but his 9.32/147.29 was no match for Dick's 9.12/150 and Larry had to settle for the runner-up spot. It was then back to OCIR for the final All-Pro race ran on March 24. Huff qualified #4 and in the opening round to beat Ken Van Cleave with a 9.36. A second round 9.28/146.34 beat Jim Baker, but he lost to Landy in the semifinals. He got another runner-up finish at the NHRA Division 4 Opener at LaPlace in April. There, his final round 9.88/142 lost to Bob Coleman's Low ET and Top Speed of the meet pass of 9.44/144. The Challenger was starting to get dated by 1973 standards, but he was still doing pretty well with it. On May 24 he was at Dragway 42 for the AHRA Grand American held there. He qualified #5, but failed to reach the finals. In June he was at Denver's Century 21 Dragway for the AHRA Springnationals. Once again, he failed to make the finals after qualifying #4 with a 10.01. He went to Columbus for the NHRA Springnationals the following week (June 10). A 9.53 got the "bump spot" in the sixteen-car field, but a 9.71 in the first round, lost to Bob Riffle's 9.51.

Notes: The 6.925/218.97 times were originally listed with the 1970 entry, but Ron Howard researched and confirmed best times of 7.03/208.32 for that year. We know he ran 6.94/205 in 1971. Sticking these times in 1972 until we can confirm when they were run. | At the Lions Grand Premiere race, Conway qualified for the sixteen-car field, but his 7.12 in the first round, lost to eventual winner Gene Snow's 6.69. At the final OCIR All-Pro race on March 25, Gene ran well. He won his first-round race, but a second round 7.02 lost to Gary Burgin's 6.97. Gene was at OCIR in May for the Hang Ten Funny Car race. His first-round 6.93/218.44 lost to Jim Dunn's 6.92/185.
