Notes: Chuck was the first alternate at NHRA Gainesville (times unavailable but slower than 6.634). He was the second alternate at NHRA Columbus at 6.359/217.85. At NHRA Englishtown, Chuck was the #1 qualifier and Low ET of the Meet at 6.148/231.95. He beat Don Powell's tough Chevy in round one, 6.279/227.27 to 6.299/227.27, and he followed that with a win over Gary Beck in round two, 6.392/227.27 to 6.613/225.56. Eventual winner Dale Funk got the best of Chuck in the semis, however, 6.234/233.76 to 6.657/184.42. Chuck qualified #31 at Indy with a 6.296/230.17. He beat Jim Walther in round one, 6.348/220.04 to 8.369/102.15. John Wiebe beat him in round two, 6.159/229.00 to a troubled 7.586/118.89. Chuck also ran 6.17 at Tri-City. |
