Notes: Also 8.00 at Tulsa. On August 10, he ran at the St. Louis AHRA Grand American race. He qualified fifth with an 8.00 and in the first round, upset low qualifier Mike Burkhart with a holeshot 7.92 that beat Mike's 7.79. Unfortunately, he burned a piston on the run, and with the break rule in effect, that reinstated Burkhart. Connecticut held a two-day Funny Car show on September 7 and 8, with eight cars running for the title on the 7th. He lost to Bill Lawton's 7.88/185 in the first round, with an out-of-shape 8.83/134.73. The following day they did it again, only this time with 14 cars. Unfortunately, he lost again in the first round. This time his 8.26/180.00 lost to Al Hanna's 7.63/178. He set a 5.97 1,000 foot track record at Southeastern's Funny Car Invitational on September 28. He won the race with a 6.15 over Bobby Wood in the final. He set the record in the semifinal while defeating Hank Clark's Rebel. He had set the track record in the first round, as well with a 6.10 over Shirl Greer's Charger.

Notes: Ran mostly in Southeast match races. For sale ad in 3/25/66 National Dragster said the car ran "9's at 140." Could have run that in 1965; 4/65 Drag News said the car runs in the 10.30/10.60 range. Listed in GASFC because it was a match racer and not a legal A/FX. Notes: Injected fuel AWB. Hood ran this car in 1967, stretching the front end. Shortly afterward, he was unfortunately killed in the Cuda at Warner Robins on November 5/1967. - DD | Not to be confused with Tom "The Mongoose" McEwen's rear-engine exhibition racer. - RT Calhoun GA 9/02/66 (Drag Times)
