Notes: On Sunday, October 2, 2006, Bunny Burkett made her debut run at Maryland Int'l Raceway for the Ford Fever Classic, and it was nothing short of spectacular. Following a double mastectomy surgery in September for two types of breast cancer, this courageous woman piloted her brand new 2006 Dodge Avenger Top Alcohol Funny Car down the MIR quarter-mile on the car’s very first pass, shocking everyone as she pitched a 5.99 ET on the scoreboards at 240 MPH. It was definitely a touching moment for everyone there at the event, from the fans to the racers to the staff. This courageous woman has been through it all. And after such a life-changing operation, she steps back up to the plate to play the game better than ever. |
