Notes: Ray was in Seattle for the Olympia All-Pro Drag Championships in July. He qualified #1 for the eight-car field with a 6.65, and in the first round, he improved to 6.59/223.88 while beating Mike Lycar. Unfortunately, the run cost him as he hurt some parts and could not run in the semifinals.

Notes: Frank was driving this car at the NHRA Division 6 Opener at Bremerton. He did well, beating his old ride, Jim Green's "Green Elephant," now driven by Mike Miller. His 6.78/220.58 got the victory when Miller broke in the final. Earlier, Hall set Top Speed at 225.00. He then went to Seattle for the Northwest Open. A first-round 6.85/203.14 beat Twig Zeigler, but he broke on the run and could not return for the semifinals. Spokane hosted the AHRA Springnationals early in June, and Frank lost to Danny Ongais in the opening round. At the second NHRA Division 6 race at Mission Raceway in B.C., Hall broke in the semifinals, but he did manage to set Low ET and Top Speed at 6.55/223.32. He did win the third Division 6 race held at Edmonton. There a final round 6.41/225.00 beat Miller's 6.58/195. Frank was the first alternate at NHRA Indy with a 6.531/226.13. He was the second alternate at Ontario Motor Speedway for the NHRA World Finals with a 6.56/177.86.

Ed ran 6.62/221.67 over Danny Ongais' 6.68/220, 6.70/221.67 over Don Prudhomme, and a 6.59/223.88 solo when Bob Pickett broke on the line in the semifinal. In the final, he lost to Jim Dunn's 6.66/220. He then stopped at Irwindale for the big 30 car Coca-Cola Funny Car Championships. In the opening round, he beat Gerry Glenn with a 6.64/203.61 but had problems in round two and shut off to 7.47 in a loss to Dunn's 6.37. McCulloch always ran well at Seattle, and in May, it was no exception for the fifth annual Northwest Open. He qualified #5 in the eight-car show, meaning he had to run low qualifier Prudhomme in the first round. Ed won, running a 6.47/213.27, while Don crossed the centerline and was disqualified. In the semifinal, he set Low ET with a 6.37/225 over Ken Goodell's 6.43/218. Somehow Prudhomme had gotten reinstated and had made it to the final to face Ed again. This time, McCulloch got out of shape (15.27) and settled for runner-up again. At the AHRA Springnationals held at Spokane, McCulloch qualified #6 and beat Mike Miller in the first round, before losing to Danny Ongais in round two. In June, a 6.453/227.27 (Top Speed) qualified #4 at the NHRA Springnationals, but a sleepy first-round 6.847/214.79 lost to Paul Smith's 7.00/214. The Rockford Manufacturer's Meet at Byron Dragway was Ed's next stop. All cars were to run three races, and Ed won his first with a 6.63/218.97. In his second race, his 6.64/217.91 lost to Richard Tharp's 6.44/223 in Don Schumacher's car, and in his final race, he lost a motor, giving Cliff Brown an easy win. In July, he finished runner-up to Gene Snow at the AHRA Drag Nationals at Kansas City when he fouled away a 6.51 in the final. Ed qualified #5 in the field with a 6.60/211.76 and beat low qualifier Shirl Greer in the second round with a 6.53/222.77 over Shirl's quicker 6.50. In the semifinals, a 6.57 dropped Dale Creasy. Another runner-up finish came the following week (July 13) at Capitol Raceway's King of Kings Funny Car race. Ed was not running up to par as he beat Russell Long with a 7.01/171.39 and an 8.17/135 beat Beadle's tire-smoker in the semifinals. In the final, he did pick up to 6.94/226.19, but it was still second best to Al Segrini's 6.65/210. The next day he was at Englishtown for the NHRA Summernationals. A 6.375/229.00 qualified #3. In the first round, the car went into a wheelstand and lost to eventual winner Segrini at 6.60/197. On July 25, he was at Maple Grove for their All-American Series race. In the opening round, he beat Tom Prock's 6.63/204 with a 6.45/205.94. Ed set Low ET in the second round with a 6.40/222.22 over Jim Liberman. In the semifinals, he broke a brake caliper and could not stage against Kosty Ivanof. The Super Stock Magazine Nationals was held at York US 30 near the end of July, and it featured two Funny Car fields. One was called the Independents, and the other was the NHRA class cars. Ed raced in the NHRA class as both were eight-car shows. He opened with a 6.93/221.67 to beat Jimmy Boyd, while a semifinal 7.31 advanced when Bill Leavitt fouled. He ran the "Frantic Ford" driven by Dodger Glenn in the final, and his 6.69/209.30 took the victory over Glenn's troubled 7.53/154. Back to Seattle in August, he set Low ET at a track record 6.27 and had Top Speed at 231, and won the Seafair 64 car show over Jerry Ruth. He was favored to win at the Irwindale Grand Prix race. There he set Low ET with a 6.38 at 219.51 in beating Dave Condit, but in the semifinals, he was surprised by Mike Halloran, whose 6.50/220 outran his 6.59/206.89. The next stop was at Tulsa for the AHRA American Challenge race. McCulloch qualified #3 and lasted until the semifinals, where he went up in smoke against Prudhomme. Then came the "big one," the NHRA US Nationals at Indy. Ed's 6.375/227.27 qualified #5, and an even better 6.319/210.77 beat Dunn's 7.09/138 in the first round. But in round two, he got out of shape and shut off against Billy Meyer, who was long gone, setting Low ET with a 6.19/218. He then got another runner-up finish at the AHRA Grandnationals, where Prudhomme beat him in the final. Ed qualified #5 at the Ontario World Finals with a 6.365/226.13. He beat Gordie Bonin in round one, 6.428/216.34 to 6.55/226, and beat Mike Miller in round two, 6.315/220.58 to 6.86/200. Ed kept rolling in the semis, taking out Jim Dunn, 6.384/209.79 to 7.04/144. However, in the final, Dave Condit got the win in the Plueger & Gyger Mustang, 6.24/212, to Ed's consistent 6.338/225.56. Notes: This team really picked up for the '75 season. Miller went to Beeline in January for the AHRA Winternationals, where he qualified #2 with a 6.35/220.58. He made it into the semifinals before the car failed to fire against eventual winner Shirl Greer. At Pomona for the NHRA Winternationals, he qualified #3 with a 6.316/213.77. A 6.430/220.58 in the first round beat Gordie Bonin's 6.54, and in the second round, his 6.503/217.91 beat a tire-smoking Jim Liberman at 7.11/166. In the semifinals, a 6.447/212.76 beat low qualifier Bill Leavitt, who also smoked the tires to a 6.72. In the final, he faced Don Prudhomme. The "Green Elephant" broke and slowed to a 9.21/99.22 loss while Prudhomme motored to the win with a 6.24/226. The team was at Gainesville for the NHRA Gatornationals in mid-March where Mike used up 20 pistons and ended up qualifying #15 with a 6.603/217.91. In the first round, he was late off the line and his 6.645/221.67 lost to Greer's 6.68/222. It was then back across the country to Seattle's opener for the '75 season. Miller ran well, hitting 6.64 twice to reach the finals, where he faced Ed McCulloch. Unfortunately for Miller, Ed was in another time zone, running 6.2s. In the final, Mike came up with a good 6.42/220.58, but it was runner-up to McCulloch's 6.24/226. These two would meet again in the Portland Grand Premiere race final. Once again, Ed was in another time zone as his 6.2s dominated the event. Miller made the final but smoked the tires and watched as the "Ace" ran 6.27/218 for the win. Mike was back across the country to attend the NHRA Springnationals but did not qualify at 6.762/208.81. At the end of June, he was in Edmonton for the third NHRA Division 6 race. Mike got the "odd-lot" solo in the first round and ran 6.41. In the semifinals, he reset both ends of the track record with a 6.38/226.13 that covered Ken McLean's 6.73. He faced Bill Spevacek in the final. Mike was late off the line, causing his 6.43/223.88 to finish runner-up to Bill's 6.47/225. Mike traveled back East to Indy for the Nationals but did not qualify at 6.580/196.07. He qualified #9 at NHRA Seattle at 6.622/223.88 and beat Gary Burgin in round one, 6.490/218.44 to 6.543/222.77. He defeated Richard Rogers in round two, 6.641/189.87 to 8.248/119.36. In round 3, Tom McEwen ended the team's good day, 6.819/214.79 to 7.116/206.94. The team ended their NHRA national event season with a DNQ (no time) at Ontario.

Notes: Mike had been running his "Boredom Zero" Mustang II early in the season, but on May 21, he showed up at Firebird Raceway for the NHRA Division Six race behind the wheel of Jim Green's "Green Elephant" Vega. It was supposed to be an eight-car field, but only seven cars showed, and Miller qualified last with a 6.83. His opening round 6.88/213.69 lost to Ed McCulloch's 6.54/216. Shortly after that, he was at Edmonton, Alberta, for its season opener. In the first round, his 6.88/206.85 defeated Bob Papirnick's 6.97/201. In the second round, he ran 6.71/209.79 to beat Nick Harmon, who shut down. This race was had the two lowest ET cars meeting in the final. Mike's times were not good enough to advance into the final. In the first week of June, he went to Indianapolis for the NHRA Division Three opener. It was another eight-car show, and his 6.55/200.89 qualified #3. Things fell into place at this race as in round one, he beat Dale Pulde's 6.53/234 with a 6.51/216.86. He got a solo in round two when Denny Savage had his parachute fall out on the line. Miller advanced with a 6.75/159.01. In the final, he faced another Vega, the Mike Kase owned "Speed Racer" driven by Tom Anderson. Tom had problems in their race for the title and shut down to 8.30/104 while Mike grabbed the victory with a 6.64/215.31. His next stop was at Edgewater for an eight-car show that all cars run three rounds and the two Low ET cars meeting in the final. In his first race, his 6.40 lost to Don Prudhomme's 6.07. He won his second race with a 6.39 over a broken Gary Burgin. In the last race, Dale Creasy had trouble in Gary Bolger's car and slowed to 10.25 while Miller got the win with a 6.93. Unfortunately, his times were not strong enough to race the final. He failed to qualify at Columbus for the NHRA Springnationals, but the following week (June 18), he was at Bristol for the IHRA Springnationals. He qualified on the "bump" for the sixteen-car field with a 6.85. In the opening round, his 6.74 advanced when Larry Fullerton's "Trojan Horse" broke. In round two, his 7.01 fell to eventual winner Pete Williams' 6.49 in the "Chi-Town Hustler." In July, Mike was at Woodburn for the fourth NHRA Division Six race. He beat Richard Rogers in round one, with a 6.82/201.34, but an even better 6.65/213.27 lost to eventual winner Gordie Bonin's 6.43/231 in the semifinal. He raced in pro comp at the IHRA Northern Nationals on July 23 before returning to the seat of the "Elephant" at Portland's big 32 car show in August. It was another one of those shows that had the two Low ET cars meeting in the final after racing two rounds. Mike won both of his races but still didn't reach the final. In his first race, he beat Steve Leach with a 6.87/211 and a 6.61/220 in his second race defeated Paul Luppy. He failed to qualify for the eight-car field at Spokane for the AHRA World Finals, where his 6.76 was the second alternate. He also raced at Seattle's 64 car show but failed to reach the finals.

Notes: Mike raced at NHRA Pomona, Columbus, and Seattle. His best NHRA ET and speed from a third alternate DNQ at the 1978 NHRA Winters (6.451/220.89). Mike was in Portland the first week of April for its opening event. However, it was not a good day for Miller as his 6.71/181 beat Ed McCulloch in the opening round, but he lost an engine while doing it and was out of competition the rest of the day. The following day (April 8), he was at Seattle for its opening race of the season. Unfortunately, his 7.07/197 lost to eventual winner Dale Pulde's 6.89/220 in the first round. At the NHRA Division Six opener at Seattle International, Mike qualified #6 in the eight-car field with a 6.52/199.11. in the opening round, his 6.63 beat a troubled McCulloch at 10.26. But the Mustang II broke on the line in the semifinal against Don Prudhomme. He was back at Portland shortly after that for the sixth annual Oregon Open. McCulloch paid him back for the last couple losses to him by running 6.56/197 to drop Miller's 6.97/141.50 in round one. At the next NHRA Division Six race held at Firebird Raceway on May 21, Miller was driving the "Green Elephant." Dave DNQ'd at the Springnationals (times unavailable) and qualified 5th at the Fallnationals with a 6.77, but could not start in round one. | The body had battle scars and 200 mph tape at the National Open, ran the 6.52 at night. - Joe Moore

Notes: Richard was at Portland in August for the NHRA Division Six race. He qualified #4 for the eight-car field with a 6.87, and in the opening round, he improved to 6.74/209.30 to beat Frank Hall. In the semifinals, he blew an engine while running against Ed McCulloch and his 7.12/165.74 lost to the "Ace's" 6.27/230. He was the second alternate at the NHRA Fallnationals with a 6.692/212.92. That was Richard's only NHRA national event. | This picture is from the '76 FCs at SIR, where Doner's radio ads mentioned a 'burnout tournament," and Rogers did a full-throttle biggie, and this picture shows a small nitro fire before he shut off. - Joe Moore
