Notes: McDuell's carbureted Comet lost to Sox & Martin's carbureted #2 car (the sedan) in the 3,000-pound gas class at the legendary first (1965) Super Stock Nationals at York, Penn. - RT |

Notes: McDuell ran a Mercury Comet in '65 and early '66, before buying Tom Grove's "Charlie Horse" Mustang mid-season. This Mercury ran the 2600 lb. class. I'm guessing this car would fall under the Gas Funny Car category. - Dennis Doubleday | McDuell ran a BIG-inch Ford Wedge in 1966. It was a Hemi killer. Around 460-inches, big for that time. I seem to remember he crashed the Comet, not sure. I remember gas burning. A great car. I do believe he had the Mustang at the 1966 Super Stock Nationals on Long Island. - Norman Hechtkoff |
