Notes: Warren Gunter was in high school when he bought original body on '32 chassis. While going to engineering school he designed and built car and began racing while in graduate school. Car was orginally designed as a street car, but it ended up on the strip instead. Debuted in 1965 with small block Chevy and was classed as an AHRA B/FA. Later BBC moved it up to A/FA. Car ran mid 8's and won at least a few injected only shows. Normally ran at Lions, but ventured to Irwindale and OCR. The car still exists set up for street with small block and original chrome megaphone headers by brother Tim. |

Notes: Basic car debuted in 1964 as a blown fuel altered Fiat. The chassis and motor were retained for years, with year to year refinements being made. Fiberglass Bantam replaced all steel Fiat. car ran 7.60s at near 200. Car was competitive, but got little recognition. |

Notes: Adolph was at OCIR near the end of March for its final All-Pro race. It was a sixteen-car field, and he failed to qualify. He got in as an alternate, and his 8.03/177.16 beat Vic Morse in round one. In the second round, the car lost reverse after he did his burnout. Eventual winner Dave Beebe soloed for the win. Jim was back at OCIR for an eight-car show on April 18. He failed to qualify but got into the show when another car broke. The Firebird came to the line ailing in the first round, and could only run 15.25 in a loss to Beebe's 7.50. He was back at OCIR on May 2 for the Big Four Championships. In the first round, he broke and advanced Mike Van Sant. |

Notes: Jim was in Seattle for the NHRA Fallnationals. Only 15 cars showed for the sixteen-car field, so qualifying wasn't much of an issue. Adolph's 7.32 qualified #13, and he beat Ed McCulloch in the first round before losing in a tire-smoking battle with Billy Meyer that saw Meyer's 6.56 beat his 6.82. He also competed at Irwindale's last drag race. It was a 32 car field, and in the opening round, his 7.29 lost to Don Prudhomme's 6.33. He ran 6.205/231.36 at Ontario for his best NHRA national event times. He made it to the semis there before losing to Don Prudhomme. |

Notes: Allen was at Irwindale on April 8 for a best-of-three-match race against Steve Bovan. He won the match two straight with times of 9.10/136.57 and 8.99/155.17, but the win didn't come without problems as his right door flew off the car at the top end of the track in his first race. He was supposed to show at Stardust Raceway for a match against Gas Ronda's Mustang on May 14, but he was a no-show. On June 24, he beat Clyde Morgan's "Vicious Vette" two straight at Irwindale. Their first race saw Allen's 8.98/159.29 nip Morgan's quicker 8.97/157. The 'Vette got out of shape in the second race, and Charlie ran another 8.98 at 162.45 to win. Confirmed 8.23/184.80 at OCIR Mfg. Meet 11/25/67 and 8.45 at Irwindale. |
