Notes: Steel GTO with factory frame. Along with Chrisman's Comet, Mr. Norm's AWB '65 Dodge and a handful of others, Beswick's blown Mystery Tornado match racer prompted Super Stock & Drag Illustrated to ask whether "we may see a return of the fuel coupe and sedan-type racing, so popular in the early days of drag racing." - RT | Built during the 1964 season when Jack Chrisman and the Dodge Chargers factory teams were grabbing headlines, this car also had the only set of aluminum 1964 GTO fenders Pontiac ever made according to Arnie. Beswick found the car so popular that he dropped his new A/FX Mercury sponsorship deal midway through the '65 season rather than park the Tornado. After building the 1963 Tameless Tiger Tempest, the chassis was sold to a circle track team in the Quad Cities region and was subsequently destroyed. The lightweight panels from the car were lost in a well-publicized fire at Beswick's farm. - GS | Arnie faced Dick Landy for a best-of-five match race at Capitol on July 31. He won the first race when Landy fouled, but Dick came back to win the second race. The third race saw Beswick's 9.72/145 beat the Dodge. Landy tied up the match at two, each with a 9.78/140 in the fourth race. The tiebreaker was won by Landy, giving him the match race win. – RH | Apparently, Arnie was credited with an 8.63/163 at Byron, IL, in the September 19, 1965, Drag News issue. Byron IL 1965 (9/18/65 Drag News), but Bret Kepner confirmed it was actually an 8.69 at Cordova (7/23, Bill & Bret late night phone call)

Notes: The car ran injected gas and injected fuel classes. These times are on gas. AWB car. It was crashed before the season was over in 1965. Bob ran an S/S car with fuel injection to finish the season. (7/31/65 Drag News) - DD | Harrop was at Cecil County on April 11 for a match race against Malcolm Durham. He warmed up with a 10.41 and then beat Durham and set a track record 134.83. Bob was at Atco on June 27 for a best of five match against Phil Bonner. Bob won the first race with a letting-off 12.45 when Bonner fouled. Phil missed second gear in his Mustang in the second race, and Harrop ran 10.57/132 for the win. Phil came back to win the third race with a 10.47/133 over the Dodge's 10.60/131. The match was wrapped up in the fourth race, where Harrop's 10.63/131 won. It was Harrop's fourth consecutive match race victory.

Notes: The car ran injected fuel, gas other times. Bob Harrop was one of the factory-sponsored full-time drivers in the 1965 AWB program. This car was raced extensively on the east coast that year. Its main claim to fame was winning the Top Stock Heads Up crown at the Super Stock Nationals on August 7/1965. Note the sagging rear quarters resulting from acid-dipping the whole body by AeroChem in California before the cars were constructed. Harrop made radical modifications to it during the 1965/66 offseason, including an engine setback. On its inaugural run in a match race with Eddie Schartman at the 1966 Cecil County season opener, it was destroyed. Harrop bought the former Ramchargers AWB to finish off the season.
