Notes: Bolger qualified #9 at Pomona for the NHRA Winternationals with a 5.25/269.29. In the first round, his 5.24/280.54 beat Gary Densham's 5.28/285. In the second round, he pulled an upset as his 5.31/278.12 defeated low qualifier John Force's 5.39/278. His run ended in the semi-final, where his 5.32/278.72 fell to Chuck Etchells' 5.12/285. At the NHRA Arizona Nationals, he qualified #4 with a 5.19/279.50. In the opening round, he slowed to 5.36/269.38 in a loss to Etchells' 5.20/290. Houston was not kind to the team as Bolger had all kinds of problems, and his 7.36 best failed to qualify. It was his first DNQ since the '93 NHRA U.S. Nationals. His first run was 10.38, and he followed that with times of 12.52, 8.69, and finally, the 7.36. Things went much better at Gainesville for the NHRA Gatornationals. A 5.24/270.83 qualified #8. Once again, Etchells beat him in round one. The next stop was at Rockingham for the NHRA Winston Invitational. Bolger ran 5.26/280.63 to qualify #5 in the eight-car field. This time he lost to Al Hofmann in the first round. At Atlanta, he qualified #7 at 5.27/282.84 but getting past that first round continued to be tough as he lost to Densham this time. Memphis was next on the NHRA calendar, and Bolger qualified #12 for the NHRA Mid-South Nationals with a 5.38/277.52. Force stopped him in round one. Photo from US 131 Dragway, Martin, Michigan. |

Notes: Photo from the 1994 NHRA US Nationals, Indianapolis Raceway Park. Confirmed 5.080 at Englishtown 94 and 296.34 at Brainerd 94. Where was the 5.069 run? (We had an archived speed of 296.73 from Brainerd 94 - need to confirm). | Bonin started the '94 season on a sour note as his "Smokin' Joe's" Mustang failed to qualify at Pomona and at Arizona. At the NHRA Winternationals his best of 5.52/261.39 was good for the second alternate and at the NHRA Quality Care Nationals, he was first alternate with a 5.58/241.15. |

Notes: Willie drove two different cars during 1976. He started the year in the former Pee Wee Wallace driven "Black Stang" Mustang II which was repainted and renamed "Wild Willie." He ran this car until mid-summer and then switched to the "Walt's Puffer" Monza, which he drove through the year's end. The photo of the "Wild Willie" Mustang II was from March 1976 at the NHRA Gatornationals, Gainesville, Florida. | Willie was at Warner Robins at the end of March for the NHRA Division 2 opener. Only seven cars showed for the eight-car field, so qualifying wasn't much of an issue. Borsch ran 7.63/134.52 for the #5 spot in the show. He had troubles in the opening round and his 10.67 lost to Tom Prock. |

Notes: One of the few fuel cars still running Firestone slicks by mid-70s. Stan was the runner-up to John Schumacher at the second NHRA Division 3 race at National Trail in May. In June, he was back at National Trail for the NHRA Springnationals, but he was the fourth alternate with a 6.926/204.08. Stan also attempted to qualify at NHRA Indy but was 17th alternate at 7.02/157.34. Photo from the 1974 NHRA Springnationals, National Trail Raceway, Columbus, Ohio. |

Notes: Jerry returned to racing at the NHRA Slick 50 Nationals at Houston for the first time since his bad crash at the '94 Mid-South Nationals. He failed to qualify as his 6.56/146.10 best was the fourth alternate. He picked up by over a second at Gainesville for the NHRA Gatornationals, but his 5.45/275.65 was still the second alternate. Atlanta was no different, as he was the first alternate for the NHRA Southern Nationals with a 5.65/251.81. He was also the first alternate at Memphis for the NHRA Mid-South Nationals, but it came at a price. He unloaded and ran 5.84/206.18 but ended up with seven bent connecting rods. He returned and made two more runs, an 11.25 and a 6.40. Caminito was the first alternate at Richmond at the NHRA Virginia Nationals with a 5.57/234.13. Jerry had a tough year in 1995, failing to qualify at all the NHRA events he entered. His best times came at Indy at 5.353 and Gainesville at 275.65. Notes: Photo from the 1990 NHRA US Nationals, Indianapolis Raceway Park. | The '90 season saw Densham without the aid of his long term crew chief, Henry Velasco. He showed up at Firebird Raceway for it's test and tune race in Jan with Richard Bays turning the wrenches. Gary also got a sponsor, Jerry Lowery's California Discount Warehouse. He made two runs at Firebird, a 5.80/231.89 and a 5.47 that came with a career best speed (to this point) of 267.06. Gary attempted to qualify for the NHRA Winternationals, but his best of 5.63/262.31 was only good for first alternate. He did make the show at the second NHRA race of the season, the Arizona Nationals where a 5.55/263.38 qualified on the "bump spot." He lost to KC Spurlock in the first round. At Houston for the NHRA Supernationals, he still lost in the first round, (to Mark Oswald), but he qualified #13 with a 5.58/255.17. |

Notes: After being in the back seat for the previous two seasons with his rear-engined Funny Car, Jim Dunn had Woody Gilmore of Race Car Engineering build him a conventional car for the '74 season. The old car tended not to go straight. The new 116" chassis was fitted with a 426 Hemi with a Reath 1/2 stroker crank that gave it a 484 displacement. The cam came from Engle. Sush Matsubara O-ringed, surfaced, and polished the heads. Ed Pink also helped out on much of the engine. The top end of the motor used a Cragar blower drive and manifold, and Marc Danekas of Air Research modified the GMC 6/71 blower. Enderle injection sat up top. A Lenco transmission transmitted the power back to a Ford rear with 4.30 gears. Mr. Ed supplied the body. The overall weight of the Satellite was 1,790 lbs. | Jim debuted his new Satellite at the Irwindale Grand Premiere on January 12. He qualified #10 in the sixteen-car field, and in round one, his 7.14/206.47 beat Gerry Glenn who got out of shape in the Plueger and Gyger Mustang. Unfortunately, Jim's Satellite broke on the run, and he was done for the day. Replaced rear-engine FC. Photo from the 1974 NHRA US Nationals, Indianapolis Raceway Park. Jim ran 6.480/221.67 at Indy US Nationals 9/74 (#13 qualifier), 6.50/221.13 at Irwindale, and 6.426/212.76 at Ontario. |

Notes: Mike qualified #4 at Pomona with a 5.39/266.82. In the opening round, his 5.44/251.53 beat Tom Hoover's 5.51/269. He then beat Al Hofmann in round two with a 5.46/263.92. Low qualifier Glenn Mikres stopped him in the semi-final with a 5.28/284 to his 5.39/266.98. He qualified #5 at the NHRA Arizona Nationals with a 5.38/266.50. He beat Jerry Caminito in round one and got some "revenge" on Mikres in round two, where his 5.36/274 defeated Glenn's 5.35/280. But he lost in the semi-final, where another 5.36 at 263 fell to John Force's 5.30/270. The next stop was at Houston for the NHRA Supernationals. Mike's 5.33/270.51 qualified #6. He beat Hofmann in round one, and a 5.46/251.39 in round two lost to Ed McCulloch's 5.30/278. Shortly after that, he was at Gainesville for the NHRA Gatornationals. A 5.31/271.98 qualified #4. Gary Densham lost to his 5.36/261.62 in round one. In the second round, Dunn's 5.34/264.93 dropped Mikres' 5.49/266. He had a close race against Mark Oswald in the semi-final that saw both drivers run 5.38 (Dunn at 269.62), but eventual winner Oswald got the "win" light. The team then went to Rockingham for the NHRA Winston Invitational. It was just an eight-car field, and Mike qualified #3 with a 5.37/271.00. Oswald stopped him again, this time in round one, where Mike's 5.52/264.23 lost to Mark's 5.38/249. He was a little "off pace" at Atlanta for the NHRA Southern Nationals. He "only" qualified #9 at 5.36/271.49. He beat Hofmann in round one before losing to Force in round two. He made up for it by winning the NHRA Mid-South Nationals held at Memphis in the first week of May. He had qualified #3 with a 5.31/273.97. A 5.35/269.86 beat Freddie Neely, followed by a 5.36/276.07 over Caminito's 5.59/258. In the semi-final, he defeated Jim White driving the "Hawaiian" with a 5.33. He faced Tom Hoover in the final, and Hoover had been running 5.4s. Mike picked up to a 5.30/275.31 in the final to claim the victory over Tom's 5.71/215. He then doubled it up by winning the NHRA Springnationals at Columbus. His 5.28/273.39 qualified second to White's 5.25/278. These two would work their way into the final together. Mike also won the Mile High Nationals this year. His best times were 5.225 at Maple Grove and 279.50 at Sonoma. Photo from the 1991 NHRA Springnationals, National Trail Raceway, Columbus, Ohio. |
