Notes: Photo shows Gabby at Oswego Drag Raceway (Oswego, IL) with his blown Olds in 1959. His trademark black Austin (aka Bantam) coupe displays the top NHRA altered class designation at that time, A/A (0-6.59 pounds, inch engine displacement). In "Those Wild Fuel Altereds," author Don Montgomery reports that Bleeker switched from pump gas to fuel in 1961. However, unattributed times posted here, if correct, are in line with fuel coupe and roadster times of the day. - RT |
