Notes: Won 1980 NHRA Cajuns over Gene Boul at 6.58-209. Photo from 1980 WWCS meet at Green Valley in March 1980. Seruntine qualified #2 and advanced to the final where the rear end ripped loose sending A.J. And the chassis barrel rolling down the track and putting Willard Buff in the winners circle. Just three weeks after the crash, he won the NHRA Division Four race at Houston. A first round 6.72-202.24 beat Buck Bellotti and in the semi-finals, his 6.80-201.34 beat Gene Boul. In the final he met Buff and this time his 6.75-203.61 (top speed) got the victory. He then got his victory at the NHRA Cajun Nationals where he qualified #3 with a 6.72-205.01. He then went 6.68-206.89, 6.79-204.54 and 6.62-207.37 to beat Bogie Kell, Charlie Durel and Brian Raymer to make it into the final with Boul. A.J. got the win with his 6.58-208.33 beating Gene's 6.79-187.

Notes: Ray was Harry's son and was only 16 in 1975. Believe it or not, 16-year-old Ray WAS officially the driver! They were at the very first drag race I attended, and the announcer made a point of saying that this car was being driven by a teenager! (He was the same age as me, which was both cool and annoying!) Notes: On Jan 1st, he was at Irwindale for the New Year's Day F/C Festival. He qualified #12 with a 7.61 and in the first round his 7.78 advanced when Don Prudhomme shut off. He lost in the next round. Dick was still driving the Javelin at the New Year's F/C Championships at Fremont. Unfortunately, he lost to Don Schumacher in the first round.

Notes: Qualified fifth at NHRA Ontario 11/21/70 at 10.023-138.03 (the quickest Chevy behind three Chryslers and Nicholson's Ford). | Next to Bill Jenkins, this had to be the strongest Chevy Pro Stocker in '70. He started the season at Beeline for the AHRA Winternationals but lost early. This was the only AHRA race he would run this season. Things went much better at Pomona for the NHRA Winternationals. There he qualified #3 behind Ronnie Sox and Jenkins with a 10.09-138.88. He made it into the semifinals before losing to Sox. The following week, he was at OCIR for the U.S. Pro Stock Championships. It was a sixteen-car show and in the second round he got around a fouling Sox. In the semifinals he lost to Don Nicholson. He seemed to be down on power at Gainesville for the NHRA Gatornationals. His best of 10.25 only qualified #14 in the field and in round one he lost to Dick Humbert. At the NHRA Division Three race at National Trail on May 3, he finished runner-up to Arlen Vanke. He fouled away a 10.20 in the final and Vanke won with a 10.27. He got a big win the following week (May 10) at York US 30 for the Super Stock Nationals. He reached the finals by running 10.00-137.14 and 9.97 twice to meet Sox in the final. Sox had run a best of 9.86 and looked like he was on his way to another victory. In the run for the money, Wally left on Sox and his 10.00-136.77 beat Ronnie's quicker 9.95-138. He was the quickest non-Mopar qualifier at the NHRA Springnationals at Dallas where his 10.12 qualified #4. A 10.20 advanced past round one while in round two Don Grotheer fouled against him. In round three (32 car field), Dick Humbert fouled against him and Booth moved into the semi-finals. There he faced Lee Smith's 'Cuda. Lee missed a shift and Wally's 10.28 moved into the final against Sox again. It wasn't much of a race as Wally blew the clutch while Sox ran 10.02-136 for the victory. Martin, Michigan's US 131 held a P/S event in early July. The two lowest ET cars would meet in the final. In the first round, Booth faced Jenkins in an all-Camaro battle. Bill's 10.11-136 beat his 10.33-134.52. He ran 10.09-135.13 on a solo pass in round two when Larry Griffith's Dart failed to start. In his third race, his 10.19-135.33 beat a wheelstanding Vanke at 10.28-135. Unfortunately, none of his ET's were quick enough for him to make the final. He was the quickest Chevy qualifier at the NHRA Summernationals where his 10.16-135.74 qualified #11. He lost to eventual winner, Dick Landy's 10.08-136 in the first round with a 10.18-137.61. On August 2, he was at Tri-City for the fourth NHRA Division Three race. He made it past a fouling Bobby Yowell in the semi-finals to run Vanke in the final. It was a close race, but Arlen's 10.08 beat Booth's 10.09-135.54 for the victory. At Indy for the NHRA US Nationals, Booth qualified #16 in the 32-car field with a 10.13-135.74. He improved to 10.11 in the first round over Joe Thompson's Dart but a second round 10.16 lost to eventual winner, Herb McCandless' 10.09. The NHRA Division Three final was held at Bluegrass Dragway on Sept 20. Wally faced Vanke in the first round and fouled.

Notes: The 5.691 qualified on the bump at the 86 Gators. Need to confirm that Jimmy did not run another 5.69 at 247.66 in 1985. Times from The Drag Racing List December 86/January 87, Volume 1, Number 9. | Jimmy qualified #12 at Pomona for the NHRA Winternationals with a 5.71-236.22. A first round 5.73-220.58 lost to Darrell Gwynn's 5.40-262. At the NHRA Gatornationals, his 5.691-241.02 qualified on the "bump spot." Gwynn got him again in the first round; this time Darrell's 5.54-251 stopped Jimmy's 5.88-210.18 from advancing. The next major NHRA meet was the Southern Nationals in April. There, Jimmy ran 5.79-241.41 to qualify #15. He shut down in the first round and lost to Gary Ormsby. He had troubles at the NHRA Cajun Nationals and his best of 6.10-220.26 failed to qualify.

Notes: Photo from 1985 Nationals. Ran 5.41 as one half of the quickest side by sider at that point (with Darrell Gwynn 5.326). | Dick started the '86 season by setting low ET while qualifying first at Pomona for the NHRA Winternationals with a 5.40 at 264.70. Unfortunately, in the first round he got out of shape and crossed the centerline losing to Gary Beck. At the NHRA Gatornationals, he qualified #4 with a 5.49-258.62. He made his way into the final by stopping Earl Whiting in the first round with a 5.54-254.66 while a round two 5.54-257.58 beat Darrell Gwynn. In the semi-finals, Dick stepped up to a 5.47-258.76 to beat Beck's 5.51-260. This put him into the final against Don Garlits. The two had a good race but Garlits' 5.50-268 beat Dick's 5.56-259.36.

Notes: Eighteen year old Darrell Gwynn had a good outing at the NHRA U.S. Nationals. He complained that he was not used to driving the dragster and having to get used to it. This was kinda strange since he had been driving the family's AA/A which was normally a handful to drive. But at Indy, he ran 6.67-204.08 to qualify #14 in the 32 car field. Another 6.67 at 205.01 in the first round beat alternate Butch Osmon's 6.83-198. In the second round, his 6.64-205.01 beat Arnie Karp's 6.78-205 in the "Boston Strangler" car. In round three, Darrell picked up to a 6.62-205.94 to beat Vern Moats' ailing Mustang. Joe Amato fouled against him in the semi-finals and his 6.62-206.89 advanced Gwynn into his first NHRA National event final. There he would run Billy Williams for the title. Unfortunately, Darrell's transmission had shifting problems and he shut off to a 9.17 while Williams got the victory with a 6.58.

Notes: Stan had one of his best weekends at Famoso for the Bakersfield March Meet. It was a 32 car show and in the first round his 7.17-189.87 beat Steve San Paolo's 7.28. Berry made an easy pass in round two when Scott Kalitta failed to get into line on time. Luck was on his side when in round three Derry O'Donovan got out of shape and shut off while Stan advanced with a 7.21-191.89. Stan's best run came in the semi-finals where his 7.02-193.54 beat Don Clar's early shut off 7.11-165. This put him into the final against recent NHRA Winternationals winner, Jerry Darien. His luck ran out there as he smoked the tires and finished runner-up to Darien's 6.68-207.
