Notes: Mark started his season at Pomona for the NHRA Winternationals. He qualified #11 with a 7.14/193.34. In the opening round of competition, his 7.16/193.21 lost to Jim Yates 7.15/193. A 7.15/192.88 qualified #15 at the NHRA Arizona Nationals, and eventual winner Darrell Alderman, stopped his 7.20/192.47 in round one, with a 7.16/193. Things didn't go well at Houston, where he ended up as the first alternate with a 7.09/194.72 best. He also failed to qualify at Gainesville for the NHRA Gatornationals, where he was the tenth alternate at 7.16/193.17. The non-qualifying continued at Rockingham, where he was the fourth alternate at 7.16/193.92 for the NHRA Winston Invitational. Things really took a turn for the better at Atlanta for the NHRA Southern Nationals. A 7.12/193.38 qualified #11, and he improved to 7.11/194.00 in round one, to beat a fouling Steve Schmidt at 7.10/194. In round two, Osborne cut a great light that saw his 7.10/194.21 beat Scott Geoffrion at a quicker 7.03/195. Yates fouled away a 7.09/194 against him in the semifinal, and Mark advanced with a 7.13/194.21. He faced Alderman in the final, and Darrell had been running steady 7.0ès. But Aldermanès Dodge broke in the final, and Osborne ran 7.14/194.17 for the victory. The next NHRA event was the Mid-South Nationals held at Memphis in the first week of May. Mark qualified #15 with a 7.10/194.76, and in round one, his 7.09/193.84 beat Warren Johnsons quicker 7.06/195. His 7.16/192.92 fell to Dester Cambron's 7.17/192 in round two. Ran 7.141/193.96 at NHRA Indianapolis 9/95. |
