Trivia

Postby Billy Mac » Thu Mar 09, 2006 9:03 pm

Hi everybody. BP here. I'm perhaps the world's worst forum admin, so I screwed this deal up. But it's WILDCAT ONE's trivia post... Although the post says it was started by Billy Mac, it was WC1 who started it with this entry:

I got a book of this stuff...Question # 1: Who is acknowledged to be the first person to run nitro in a quarter-mile race car? No cheating! Tick tock, tick tock...answer tomorrow morning...Cheers, WC1

BILLY MAC, for his part, was the first responder, as follows:

lay ya 90 to 1 odds that it wasn't Randy Baker.....LOL

And now, on to the remainder of the entries, which, I'm happy to say and you're relieved to hear, I haven't screwed up... bp

Sorry, Billy...actually it WAS Randy Baker. Not. Probably would have been if he'd have been around back then though...<g> Cheers, WC1

Don Yates, who drove into the mid-1960s, had nitro in the tank of Vic Smaldino's four-banger roadster as early as 1950 at Saugus. Yates is also given credit for running the first Gilmer blower drive. Cheers, WC1

Question #2: Who were the culprits that were ultimately blamed for NHRA's nitro ban in 1957, and what were the circumstances? (Y'all're gonna nail this one) Cheers, WC1
