It appears to me to be all about the insurance money they get. First thing: who is your insurance carrier? Well, we got Cigna. The red carpet rolls out. Then they give you so many tests, each one costing 75 bucks, it's C.Y.A. also for them, in case the ailment you're there for gets misdiagnosed or something, and then they refer you to a specialist, who refers you to another specialist, they all run the same tests for the same money, again and again, and on and on it goes and as it was with me in 2004, the doctor told me when I finally ended up on an operating table in the hospital with tubes running into me from my groin up into my heart and dye pumping through my arteries, "Mr. Bockelman, there is nothing in your heart that I can treat with bypass surgery, stints or angioplasty. Your condition is caused by stress. My advice to you is to eliminate stress." This was after 6 weeks of tests...and I already knew what he was going to say. I got angry, I made a committment to eliminate stress...my job...with my 25 year anniversary with the company coming up and after turning 55 not long before that, I suddenly found myself in the position there of being made as uncomfortable and unwelcome as they could possibly make me without me hiring a lawyer instead of a doctor. It was hard to take. I finally decided to give them what they wanted and took early retirement. The atmosphere went back to my boss telling me what a great career I had there, and the dedicated service and level of committment I showed was above and beyond any of the other people, etc. etc. ad nauseum. I took the DVD player for my 25th anniversary gift, got a screwdriver and popped the company logo off of the front of it, went on vacation the next day (I had 6 weeks) and my retirement kicked in one business day before the company got bought out. But I digress...you can't just get medicine for what is bothering you anymore. You get run through the gamut of medical services with your insurance card paving the way...95% of the 15,000 dollar bill I had for all that after my insurance paid their part was UNNECESSARY, and it was my own naivete that let them run me through the meat-grinder, both at work and at the clinic. I did make this vow: I will never again as long as I live go to a doctor unless I'm bleeding from an open wound, or unless his name is Dr. Jim. Cheers, WC1

You are fit as a fiddle, AJ. I stopped blindly trusting doctors the minute the guy tried to sew Jason's fetal probe INSIDE of Denise after an emergency c-section. I saw what was going on, but thought -- naw, they know what they are doing... don't be a moron. Well, sure enough, he missed it and the nurse called him on it before I got a chance to. After that, I'm taking everything with a grain of salt and OPENING MY MOUTH when I see or hear something that doesn't sound right! bp

when my disease got seriousto the point Ithoght I had a brain tumor ( the headaches where out of control ) my boss at the time told me to use my insurance to see a doctor and a specialist the doctor said he couldn't do anything because he was a gp the specialist said it was depression and prescribed me some meds, well one day I found out after loosing my temper and flying into a rage and beat someone up and got Fired from my job plus almost loosing my license that the meds he was prescribing me clashed and made a person very moody , well I never went back to see him again , now the doctor I have now has great manners and doesn't care about what the insurance companys have to say and it was him talking to one of his school cums that they realized what was wrong with me set up a battery of test and after 6 months had me on the proper medication to live my life, 33 years to find out I had this disease and that was 7 years ago and I will not change my doctors the good thing is his son is studying medice and his foathers instillment on how to take of his patients is one of the things he is learning .

3 weeks ago I fractured a toe. It took 2 weeks to see the doc and I'm not going to the ER for a toe. I went for thesame stuff as AJ. The nurse took my weight and height. I shunk 2 inches in 6 mos. After several tries at taking my bp, she said it was way too high. After all the med stuff I asked the doc about my toe. I asked her if I could just tape it. She said no and sent me to x-ray. I waited for an hour, then I was sent back to my doc. She sent me to an orthopedic surgeon. He looked at my x-ray, looked real concerned. I'm thinking I'm gonna get an operation. He leaves,in comes a nurse who taps my toe and gives me a funny shoe.
